Three Guys Around a Table and The Best Of…
Bench Talk Sports Showdown
Sports season is hitting its stride, and three friends with vastly different perspectives dive deep into what makes this time of year so captivating. Our passionate discussion centers around March Madness—arguably the best college sporting event of the year—as we analyze standout performances, defensive improvements, and surprising results from the tournament's opening weekend.
Duke impressed despite injury concerns, Kentucky silenced critics with their newfound defensive prowess, and Florida emerged as a genuine title contender. We explore the tournament's chalk-heavy results and debate conference strength, unanimously agreeing that the ACC is overrated across all sports while the SEC and Big Ten battle for supremacy.
The conversation shifts to a fascinating question: who are the top four college basketball coaches you'd hire today? Rick Pitino tops our list for his ability to elevate programs quickly despite compliance issues, with Bruce Pearl earning high praise for transforming Auburn into a basketball powerhouse. Both coaches share remarkable motivational abilities that maximize talent, while names like Dan Hurley, Kelvin Sampson, and Mark Few round out the conversation.
Looking ahead to Sweet Sixteen matchups, we predict each game with special attention to Kentucky-Tennessee—can the Wildcats beat their rivals for a third time this season? Baseball season prompts a friendly wager on the Cincinnati Reds, with speculation that Pete Rose's passing might finally lift the franchise's "curse." We wrap with excited anticipation for WrestleMania and a mouthwatering review of Louisville's Repeal Oak Fired Steakhouse that rivals the renowned Jeff Ruby's establishments.
Whether you're a basketball junkie, baseball enthusiast, or simply enjoy authentic sports talk among friends with strong opinions, this episode delivers passionate takes, good-natured ribbing, and the shared appreciation that makes sports fandom so special. three guys around a table and by three guys.
Speaker 3:We're talking about three friends a lawyer, an engineer and a school superintendent and just like our personalities, our opinions vary and we certainly don't always agree. Whether we're discussing the best of or giving our tips and tricks of, things in everyday life, you're sure to learn something if you stick around sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports is it a good sports time of year?
Speaker 1:yes, it is fantastic but how good is it? Is it the best sports time of year? I don't think so, but it's close, it's close is the ncaa basketball tournament, the best college sport event I think that without question before this year's football I think without question, it's always been the the ncaa basketball tournament.
Speaker 1:This year's football playoff was pretty darn good, though I will say that I agree yeah, you know something that I think the basketball team should, before we get into the tournament, something I think the men's basketball tournament should do, that the men's basketball tournament should do, that the women's basketball tournament does and that football does. What's that? I loved the first-round games in football being at the home field of the higher-seeded team, agreed, and the way women's basketball, ncaa does it is, if you're the four-seed, you host a group of games there, there, yeah, and I think that'd be great if, if give, give the people, the that are the highest seeds, a perk for being the highest seed. Yeah, I agree anyway.
Speaker 2:Well, for another day. So we're gonna talk sports today. Uh, we're, we're welcoming back our entire crew. It's been a couple of weeks because, you know, some of us stayed here and worked and others didn't, worked elsewhere.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, I mean you got to be working other places, that's right.
Speaker 2:You could have worked here and we could have podcasted. That's true, anyway, anyway.
Speaker 1:That's right. That's right. You boys will probably think baseball starts this week.
Speaker 3:Well, in my humble, old man, get off my lawn.
Speaker 2:Opinion baseball doesn't begin until the reds open it up 4, 10 thursday. But that's not true.
Speaker 1:There's two games already played and how those work for the cobes not very good they played the world champions though, so it's okay yeah that's what I'd have said, should they have counted?
Speaker 2:I mean, weren't they in Japan or something? They were in Tokyo.
Speaker 1:Yeah, those shouldn't count. I agree, those should have been exhibition spring training games.
Speaker 2:By the way, we could do a whole episode on how Rob Manfred has ruined Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3:But he had a great band when he was back in the 70s.
Speaker 1:Oh, were they blinded by the light.
Speaker 3:Wrapped up like a deuce baby, Kind of like I am in this blanket. Yes, you are Christmas blanket at that.
Speaker 1:Christmas blanket with a fleece sweater on in this house I want to say it 4-10, Thursday, March 7th.
Speaker 3:Who do they play? The Giants? March the 7th is clearly not right.
Speaker 2:March 27th the Gi giants and this guy will be there el gigantes for all of our naturally break so college basketball the first rounds of the ncaa tournament just occurred, this past weekend fantastic duke looked good um uh unfortunately, if you're, if you live in the state of kentucky, we we have a hard time admitting that, but I kind of thought their injury, the ankle injury to the, to their best player cooper flag yeah but he he was dominant yeah.
Speaker 2:Um. I thought UK looked good. You look good and there and there are two games. I thought something they did that addressed your biggest concern earlier in the year. You know Greg had said and Chris agreed and they just don't play good defense.
Speaker 1:They picked it up. They play great Against Illinois. They played great.
Speaker 3:They Against Illinois. They played great defense. They sure did I have to full disclosure.
Speaker 2:I have not been able to watch a single game. Oh, were you kissing the Blarney stone? Huh, it happens.
Speaker 3:I was out and about, but I got to tell you, though, from watching replays and everything else I did, their defense has not only stepped up, but we're learning now what we knew already knew, but personnel makes a huge difference on this huge, huge wow and injuries, we know played a role, but I, you know, well, who else look good?
Speaker 1:arkansas look good. I mean, I hate to say it, but they've looked good. They beat Kansas and St John's.
Speaker 3:They've looked good. What was their controversial call in that St John's game? Wasn't it like a goaltending or something?
Speaker 1:I only watched a handful of minutes of it.
Speaker 2:The Gonzaga who beat Gonzaga in that last game?
Speaker 1:Houston would have beat them. No, no, no, it would have been a one seed.
Speaker 2:Florida. Yeah, game houston would have beat them right. No, no, no, no, it would have been a one seed, uh florida? Uh, yeah, maybe it was florida, um look I think florida can be the best team in the country. I think that they can as well.
Speaker 1:They, I mean they, they, they and I mean they just dominated the tournament.
Speaker 2:I think for the first time in several years, the one, two, three and four seeds all are in Right.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm, a lot of chalk yeah.
Speaker 3:Let's talk about. I know there was some gigging of some people in this room when the SEC didn't have such a great first weekend.
Speaker 1:Yeet, they had 14 teams in Yeet they were eight and six Yeet.
Speaker 3:They're showing their dominance right now, oh yeah, the. They were 8-6. They're showing their dominance right now.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, the second weekend was huge Yeet.
Speaker 3:Second game Between the SEC and the Big Ten. They have what Big Ten was 8-0. Yeet 10 of the 16. Or 11 of the 16.
Speaker 1:We can all agree that the conference that's overrated is ACC 100% in all sports. I mean they're overrated. They've got one good team.
Speaker 2:They're bad in football.
Speaker 1:They're bad in basketball. Louisville's had a decent season, much better than what the last couple seasons did. I don't have the hate for Louisville that a lot of people do, I do. I mean I don't. I think Kentucky's better when Louisville's better, but I mean Creighton beat them to death. I mean it wasn't as close off the score.
Speaker 3:It's because Louisville didn't play anybody other than Duke.
Speaker 1:It's the ACC. There's nobody in. It worth crap.
Speaker 3:Correct. By the way, Houston beat Gonzaga. It was Houston 81-77.
Speaker 1:Okay, Houston's good Good call.
Speaker 2:Houston's good. I picked Houston to win it all.
Speaker 3:Yeah, houston's good In my bracket Now. Florida beat UConn by two and I got to tell you, I watched some of that game, great game.
Speaker 1:I watched some of that game. Uconn played good. I'm just glad to see Hurley get beat. Did you see what happened? Don't get messed over by the refs like we did. Yeah, I mean, how about? How about you win with class and lose with class? He has no class. He is a coach that. If he is your coach, yep, you love him and you would go through the walls for him, yeah. But if he's not your coach, he's the biggest sob there is.
Speaker 3:I will tell you, he but and I, and I completely agree with that, except you know, we always said that about Spurrier.
Speaker 1:Yeah, if Spurrier was my guy, he's my guy.
Speaker 3:And how we would do it with Calipari and how we would have done it with, you know, even when we had Patino. But the problem is, I think he is such a detestable human being. He certainly seems that way, kentucky dodged a massive bullet with that guy.
Speaker 1:Well, you know, look Massive, a massive bowl with that down, massive, I don't disagree with that. So did the Lakers, the Lakers offered him mookers of dollars, if you remember. But when you think about the coaching changes, Mark Popes, if they get beat by Tennessee in the next game, he's had a good first year. Consider he had nobody on the roster. They set a record. No points returned. No points First.
Speaker 3:No points returned.
Speaker 1:No points First team to ever go to the Sweet 16 with zero points returned and a team put together in three weeks. Nill, nill. So look, calipari struggled at Arkansas to start, but they're playing fine right now. Yep, he's not made a Sweet 16 until 2019, until this year, that's right, so that's been good for him. Byu had to get a new coach when Mark Pope left. Guess who's also in the Sweet 16?
Speaker 2:It's all worked out. It's all worked out I mean currently if you were a university president and you had to work with your athletic director to hire a men's basketball coach. Who are the top four names out there? Who would you go for? Wow?
Speaker 1:Well, the top two for me are easy. I mean, john, if you can get Rick Pitino, you get Rick Pitino.
Speaker 2:Correct.
Speaker 1:You may go on probation. Yep Pitino can cope, but you're going to be elite in two years.
Speaker 2:There were games that we saw this past weekend that you really saw coaching matter correct, right, yeah it wasn't all talent. That's exactly right and and patino showed that all year long with with st john's right, right, who else?
Speaker 3:bruce pearl's, my second pick yeah, I agree now you would go on probation well, auburn's not.
Speaker 1:Yet tennessee didn't Sort of Right. They got rid of him before, but anyway, I think he's exceptional. I think I mean for him to do that at Auburn yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I have no disagreement with that at all, but I think beyond coaching and I know it's a big part of coaching.
Speaker 3:I think the best thing with those two guys that they have is that, honestly, I think Mark Pope has. You know the thing is with Pope, he's so young and so new, but let's just take those guys is not what Tom Izzo has at Michigan State. I think Tom Izzo's a great coach. The difference between Patino and Pearl as opposed to like an Izzo, they all can coach but Patino can take less talent and get more out of it than anybody else on the planet.
Speaker 2:He's a motivator.
Speaker 3:The other thing is I I believe bruce pearl's the same way. He went into a football school who's down and convinced them they're gonna win and they've been successful and he's done it everywhere he's been I think those guys are such motivators and such good builders of well, you bring up tom.
Speaker 2:Is a motivation, yeah, is. Is he in your top four?
Speaker 3:Probably not, not anymore.
Speaker 1:Ten years ago. Yeah, I think Tom Izzo is really good, but what's he done since he won the national championship almost 25 years ago? I'm not.
Speaker 2:I'm not disagreeing.
Speaker 1:I asked the question. There was a time there was talk about him coming to Kentucky.
Speaker 3:What about Hurley? Is he in the top four? He's got to be. I mean, he's the man just won two back to back. He's got it.
Speaker 1:He's got to be in it, it's too. It's to me it's too early to tell my thing with hurley if you're picking today, he's got to be in it I wouldn't well you look, you can.
Speaker 2:We can say whatever we want about UConn, but UConn's been the program since 2000.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and they have, I agree with that and you know I still regret that Kevin Olley loss, but anyhow, His talent level this year was much lower than it was the last two years 100%.
Speaker 2:And he had them ready to win the other night.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, the Florida game was a good game. It was a good game.
Speaker 3:I think Golden ought to be in the conversation down in Florida. Florida was awful.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he's a one-year guy right now. For me I wouldn't put him in the top four, but they're great this year, Well here's the thing.
Speaker 3:Let's look at Indiana. They needed a coach. They have been irrelevant now for 25 years.
Speaker 1:They needed a big hire and who did they go after? They didn't get it.
Speaker 3:Who in the heck did that guy? Who was that guy? I mean, I never even heard of the guy. He was an assistant somewhere. Right, yeah, they're. They didn't get it.
Speaker 2:No, I'm shocked that they're. Look at Purdue's coach. You know I mean Gene Katie Best hair in the business.
Speaker 3:My fourth one you had to go old school on that one.
Speaker 1:It would about have to be somebody like Nate Oates or somebody like that at Alabama yeah.
Speaker 3:But, I don't know who else I'd pick. You know who's not in the conversation, who was just two years ago? Scott Drew.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I just two years ago. Scott Drew yeah, I mean, he's done. Baylor's fell off the cliff.
Speaker 2:No one's talking about Bill Self either. No, what have they done recently?
Speaker 3:Nothing.
Speaker 2:They underachieve in that program.
Speaker 1:Look, when you get Hunter Dickinson, I mean he's a cancer. That dude's clearly a cancer. How do you go from the number one team in the country preseason to where you're a 7-Z in the tournament and you get beat by a 10-Z?
Speaker 3:and it really wasn't as close as the score was how many times did they get beat at home, which they never do?
Speaker 2:What about Kelvin Sampson? He's legit. He's awesome. He's legit. He may be in the top four.
Speaker 3:He could.
Speaker 1:certainly he could take Nate Oates' spot in the top four, no question. Think about how bad that went.
Speaker 3:Think about if NIL and all that had worked out and the communication and all that had worked then like it does now when he was at Indiana. Indiana would have been somebody. They'd have been back. What about Mark Few?
Speaker 2:Oh, he is an incredible basketball coach.
Speaker 1:I agree with that. He's had lower level talent.
Speaker 2:Yep.
Speaker 1:Then what then? What the big programs have had I watched played in a lower level, correct, yeah.
Speaker 2:I've watched that game against Houston, though, and they had lost. If you saw a 10 of their losses this year, or they were ahead and lost right. When you saw those two teams play, their talent level was way below Houston's.
Speaker 3:I agree with that Way below. But you know again Gonzaga. When did we ever? I mean, for God's sakes, all we ever knew about Gonzaga for years was John Stockton played there.
Speaker 1:Yep Right, and Mark Few's done a great job with them. So, after the first weekend, who's your final four? Has your final four changed?
Speaker 2:Well, I've got Houston still winning it all.
Speaker 1:I can see.
Speaker 2:Houston winning that, I'm right there with Florida and Duke oh Chonk. Mark Kopp Chonk.
Speaker 1:He does work in the school system.
Speaker 2:I just don't see too many teams beating those guys.
Speaker 1:I want to see Duke play somebody good. Yeah, I do too, because they haven't had see Duke play somebody good. Yeah, yeah, I did too, because they haven't had to play anybody good yet, yep.
Speaker 2:Um, they got a couple of kids with ice in their veins.
Speaker 1:They do, you know and it's not just Cooper. They got um.
Speaker 2:Oh that kid that can shoot the ball, gee many.
Speaker 1:Christmas. I mean they've they've got some pretty good players, harrison or whatever his name is. So is Houston still your pick?
Speaker 2:to win it all. I still well look. Of the ones we've talked about, they've had the least impressive first two games. Neither of their first two games were impressive. So that concerns me a little bit, right, but you know.
Speaker 3:Let's go game by game. Okay, there's only a few, all right. First let's go byu alabama on thursday alabama will.
Speaker 2:It will beat them like a drum.
Speaker 1:It won't stun me if byu wins the game.
Speaker 3:I could see byu winning the game I don't see it happening.
Speaker 2:Um, I watched both of their games this weekend. I'm picking alabama. Yeah, I think alabama will beat them like a drum if they come ready to play all right, what?
Speaker 3:what about Maryland and Florida?
Speaker 2:Florida.
Speaker 3:I agree with that one Arizona.
Speaker 2:Duke Arizona's going to give them fits, frankly. But I think Duke will win. I think that one will be deceptively close in my opinion.
Speaker 3:Arkansas Texas Tech. I'd pick an upset on that one.
Speaker 1:I can see Arkansas winning that game. Yep, me too. Texas Tech don't. They don't make me shiver me boots.
Speaker 3:Yep, great Really. What does make you shiver ye boots?
Speaker 1:Really cold temperatures About two more degrees than what it is in this house right now. If it was two degrees less, I'd start shivering. By the way you have an icicle dripping off your face.
Speaker 2:I know, you know I need to get a sound effect of someone whining. You know I need to get a sound effect of someone whining.
Speaker 1:That's what I need. Is your refrigerator broken? You've got to have it this cold in there to hang up your meats and things like that.
Speaker 2:So they don't go bad. I am quite comfortable.
Speaker 1:I'll bet you are.
Speaker 2:He won't pay his electric bill.
Speaker 3:We're running off a battery here, ole Miss, michigan State, michigan State.
Speaker 2:I'm going to go Michigan State in that game too.
Speaker 3:Michigan, Auburn.
Speaker 1:Auburn, auburn. You can't pick that team up north Houston and Purdue.
Speaker 2:I don't even know that they exist in my world.
Speaker 3:Houston, houston, houston, kentucky, tennessee.
Speaker 2:That's the good one Kentucky's beat them twice. It's going to be really close and I'm going to go with Kentucky.
Speaker 3:Really.
Speaker 1:Yep, I think it's too hard to beat a comparably talented team. I actually think Tennessee's a little more talented than Kentucky is. I think it's too hard to beat that team three times in a row. I agree with that. That's valid and also you know the whole.
Speaker 3:Rick Barnes is going to retire after the season and all that crap too, so it's not quite the John Wooden UK 75.
Speaker 1:I hadn't heard he's going to retire.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, white, the john wood and uk 75. I hadn't heard he's gonna retire.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, yeah, it's floating around out there on the old world wide web, but al gore invented it.
Speaker 3:He did invent it. That's exactly you know.
Speaker 1:But do you remember that commercial? Because I mentioned it to you over this when it was george bush and al gore were running against each other and it was a snickers commercial. Yeah, and it was like I invented the internet. And it ended up saying I invented pants. Yeah, exactly, it was like I invented the internet.
Speaker 3:And it ended up saying that I invented pants. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1:It was the donkey and the elephant going at each other.
Speaker 3:I invented pants. So do you think you think Kentucky wins? I do you think Tennessee wins, I think Tennessee wins. You know they, they, kentucky looks different.
Speaker 2:Kentucky look different. These last two they have.
Speaker 1:Kentucky looks different, kentucky looked different these last two games they have. I agree with that.
Speaker 3:My whole concern with Kentucky is foul shots and rebounding. They got out-rebounded pretty bad in that last game. Now they won, but they got out-rebounded. They can't do that against Tennessee, especially with what's that little midget kid down there that shoots lights out what you cannot say, that my gosh, especially with uh, what's that little midget kid down there that shoots lights out what you cannot say that my gosh where is?
Speaker 2:the. Where is the beep button compared to?
Speaker 3:me right, there you go, that's fine. What? All right, I'm sorry, I'll call him by his correct he's a dwarf I'm sorry I didn't end up, my goodness gracious well I don't want to get you know, I don't want to get in trouble with you. You just did my friend.
Speaker 1:Just saying who sang the?
Speaker 3:song Short People.
Speaker 1:Peter.
Speaker 3:Dinklage no, who sang the song Short People? Will Sasso. He also sang I Love LA. Did that help you? Yeah, randy Newman, there you go.
Speaker 1:It helps me see you around.
Speaker 3:If we can stop the threes from those guys, the barrage of threes.
Speaker 2:And if we can stop the threes from those guys, the barrage of threes and if we can rebound, I think we have a shot. Who's we sucker?
Speaker 3:Well, listen, I feel like I'm playing when I get done, man, I'm dripping sweat.
Speaker 1:When Kentucky's won the two games against Tennessee earlier this year, tennessee shot terribly from the field in both games. I can't imagine that's going to happen for a third game.
Speaker 2:We'll see, we shall see see. So what about?
Speaker 1:baseball.
Speaker 2:We have a bet right, we do ten dollars and you want some red action.
Speaker 1:What?
Speaker 3:is it who has?
Speaker 2:more wins by the end of the year I've got reds.
Speaker 1:He's got the reds. You want some at?
Speaker 2:10 bucks, man, they're already they're already.
Speaker 1:Oh and two. Ye right, you already got two games ahead, yep.
Speaker 3:Who's starting pitching?
Speaker 2:Thursday Don't forget about the 10-game spread.
Speaker 1:What's his name?
Speaker 2:Hunter Green.
Speaker 1:It doesn't matter what his name is, it's the. Reds, they're terrible.
Speaker 3:You got one good player. No, I'll take that action. Done Mark it eight dude Run DLC man.
Speaker 2:He's going to be $20 sliding in his wallet. Is it $20? Wait a minute no.
Speaker 3:So that's you TN and TN. You owe me $20.
Speaker 1:No, and him none, then no.
Speaker 3:Oh, okay, Run DLC baby.
Speaker 2:I think the Reds are going to surprise some people this year by finishing above $500. You know what?
Speaker 1:Look, I'm also willing to take that bet.
Speaker 3:Here's what I'm hoping for. I'm hoping I see you're not jumping on that one. I'm hoping they're doing great at the All-Star break and I hope they do great after the All-Star break. That would be a first as well.
Speaker 1:Look, Marge is not there. She's not going to be there, we're resurrecting Shotzi as well. Here's the deal. What?
Speaker 2:happened? That's changing everything. What happened? That's changing everything. Who died? Peter Edward Rose Correct yeah, the curse is over. They're winning it, baby. They're winning the Central.
Speaker 1:Oh wow, I'm willing to put whatever you want on that, I'll just stick with our original bet for now, right.
Speaker 3:Oh, we'll let it go a week you know I've got to get one of those jerseys with that 14 patch on it. I never wear the thing, but that's just cool. Yep, Hard patch Cool. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I don't want him in there now.
Speaker 1:They're definitely putting him in there.
Speaker 3:Abstain it. I think his family's fighting against it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he's going in.
Speaker 3:So anyway, what else do?
Speaker 1:we do like me some baseball.
Speaker 3:They do.
Speaker 2:I saw a video about the new Reds food at Great American Ballpark and the big thing this year is they have a walking. It's a walking bag of Saratoga chips from Montgomery.
Speaker 3:Inn. Oh, now I'm down with it.
Speaker 2:With pulled pork in it, done and sauce Sign me up.
Speaker 3:Those chips are the best, yes, but I've got to eat it. No sauce I've still got to do that. I've still got to get me some Skyline Chili Dogs and I still have to get a piece of La Rosa's pizza while I'm there.
Speaker 2:What you need to get is the Skyline Chili flavored Grater's ice cream.
Speaker 3:You know, you said it's pretty decent it? No, you said it's pretty decent.
Speaker 2:That's disgusting.
Speaker 1:It's legit. You know what I'm excited about there's a 0% chance of a true potato.
Speaker 3:Did I tell you that the-. Not in this lifetime, did I tell you the Skyline baked potato is back on the menu now.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 3:The loaded Skyline baked potato was back on the Skyline menu, do you?
Speaker 1:notice how I don't know the Skyline menu.
Speaker 3:It is so good.
Speaker 1:Because nobody should eat there terrible I've been.
Speaker 2:I've been shedding some lbs, and when you want to be a good boy, when do you want to go? Uh, I, I can't drive.
Speaker 3:I'm making great progress, oh my god listen, I can sit there and eat the oyster crackers in their hot sauce especially now that I can't walk around oh, by the way, what's up with these matching, non-matching boots you have on?
Speaker 2:he's not afraid well, yeah, I, I, I am not a fashionista, I do care. So are we going to make a trip.
Speaker 1:Hang on Is that Buddha sketchy. No, are we going to make a trip to Great American Small Park when the Cubs come and play.
Speaker 2:Absolutely. I think we should. Let's talk about another sporting event Professional wrestling oh. Totally down. Yeet, yeet. We're 25 days away from WrestleMania.
Speaker 3:Where are we watching it at?
Speaker 2:We're watching it right here.
Speaker 1:Let's do it. Yeah, janie's 50th birthday. Probably not going to be watching it.
Speaker 3:That's fair. We're watching WrestleMania what?
Speaker 2:Yeet.
Speaker 1:So and Easter? You do know that the second night of WrestleMania is Easter Sunday, yep, and you do know that the second night of WrestleMania is Easter Sunday and Janie's 50th birthday. Probably, watching it on the next day, jesus would approve.
Speaker 2:So can we throw out a request for a sponsorship from Repeal the Oak Fired Steakhouse in Louisville? We went to Repeal Carrie and I did on Saturday night. Fantastic, did you get the French onion?
Speaker 1:french onion, hey no, he's calling it above. Jeff ruby for this particular meal.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was better than any jeff ruby's I've had in lexington okay, the caveat okay and it was on par with any jeff ruby's meal overall that I've had in louisville. I will tell you that repeal.
Speaker 1:That's a pretty high praise, I wasn't expecting that at all.
Speaker 3:I've been there.
Speaker 1:And I love Jeff.
Speaker 3:Rubies and I like it and I love Jeff Rubies. Repeal has the best French onion soup I have ever eaten. How about the bread?
Speaker 2:Oh, the bread. Did you bring some home? Yes, in the fridge right now you go. Look, they have this appetizer, that heirloom carrots you're like who would order carrots? It may have been the greatest thing I've ever tasted. That's the reason I ordered brussels sprouts at ruby's. I mean just absolutely. It was a perfect meal beginning to end. What was the dessert? So, dark chocolate mousse, and again, I'm hoping something at this point is not right. This is not good, because I love jeff, jeff rubies. Everything had been perfect. Ordered the dark chocolate mousse, one bite, oh my god I don't think I'd like that.
