When wrestling history is being made, you need friends to break it all down. That's exactly what happened when three very different personalities – a lawyer, an engineer, and a school superintendent – gathered to dissect the unforgettable two-day SummerSlam extravaganza that rocked the New Jersey/New York area.
Day One emerges as the clear winner in this epic breakdown. The hosts vividly recreate the electricity of Gunter and CM Punk's bloody battle, with one declaring Gunter "the best talent in the world" who carried an exhausted CM Punk to a spectacular match. But nothing compares to their animated recounting of Seth Rollins' masterful fake-injury storyline that culminated in what they call a genuine "holy ass moment" – when Rollins dramatically dropped his crutches, removed his knee brace, and sprinted to the ring as the crowd erupted.
Even Logan Paul earns surprising praise for his legitimate wrestling skills, particularly his death-defying frog splash through the announcer's table. "He can do things nobody else can do," admits one host, despite acknowledging that "everyone hates Logan Paul."
The conversation takes a poignant turn when discussing recent losses of childhood icons, particularly Hulk Hogan. Despite controversial aspects of his career, the hosts unanimously recognize his transformative impact: "Wrestling would be nowhere near where it is today, but for him." They reminisce about his historic 1984 championship victory and the birth of Hulkamania with the kind of detailed wrestling knowledge that only true lifelong fans possess.
What makes this conversation special is the genuine friendship and passionate disagreement that shines through. Whether debating Jay Uso's worthiness as a main eventer or critiquing Brock Lesnar overshadowing Cody Rhodes' championship victory, these three friends exemplify why wrestling is best enjoyed with people who don't always see things the same way.
Introduction to Three Guys Podcast
Speaker 1three guys around the table and by three guys.
Speaker 3We're talking about three friends a lawyer, an engineer and a school superintendent and just like our personalities, our opinions vary and we certainly don't always agree.
Speaker 1Whether we're discussing the best of or giving our tips and tricks of, things in everyday life, you're sure to learn something if you stick around as we sit here around the table, the three guys we are 30 minutes away from wwe raw the day after the first ever two-day summer slam from new jersey, new york city area. So we have to talk about summerSlam and where we stand with that, and then we also have to talk about there's been since the last time we've been together a bunch of our childhood icons have passed on.
Speaker 2I see dead people.
Speaker 3Everybody needs to check on Dick Van Dyke.
Speaker 2He's like 99. Is he really?
Speaker 1Yep, make sure he's in bubble wrap, but yeah, we have to talk about that a little bit, but yeah, but we we talked a little bit today. The per this, this uh episode, was going to be a recap of summer slam and what we thought about summer slam, but we have to talk about yeah, we've lost the deaths that have happened in the last, uh, couple weeks. That it's, it's almost our child. Well, two of our childhoods are dying.
Speaker 3One of your middle ages die. Charlotte chaplin's been gone for years yeah, yeah, when chaplin died.
Speaker 1It was a rough one for me no that that uh summer slam two-day event yeah, okay, first question yeah, day one or day two better, I think you and I agree no yes, so day one a show if yes, absolutely I would give it an a day, two, not so much I, I you know what really made it worse for me is is after the day one show, and we'll talk about the big, the big turn of event in the day one show, yep, but after it, triple H is on the post show and he says you thought tonight was a lot, you ain't seen nothing yet. Yeah, and I kept waiting for the. You ain't seen nothing yet. And I'll be honest with you, we're a day later.
Speaker 2I still ain't seen it I don't know if I missed it. If the big reveal at the end was Right. If that's it. If that's it, I'm sorry that isn't better than what we saw on day one.
Speaker 1Day one was millions better.
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean okay, so let's talk day one. My main, uh, my main man, uh, yes, gunter, uh lost.
Speaker 1He just beat the tar out of him and during the match, you and I were texting and we said, yep, they're setting this up for a cash in, for the money in the bank. Yes, yes, because they kept talking about how bad he was getting beat to death. Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean, uh, gunter put the hammer on him and then you know, they had the thing that happened outside the ring where CM Punk, you know, hits Gunter, he goes under the table. Blades himself, blades it up Great, great blade job, Great job Gunter, because the blood was gushing from his head and he comes out and gets. But what hit was supposed to get his head busted open?
Speaker 1That's a good question. I mean, he rolled over the announce table and then he comes out bleeding out of his head.
Speaker 2And he kind of had to crawl the last foot under the table.
Speaker 3I got a real quick question. Why is it they always? Every time there's anything with the announcer's table, it's always it's the spanish announce table. What's up with the spanish announce table? Why, is it always the one that gets destroyed?
Speaker 1yeah, well, I mean, you know it's right are there more viewers in the united states or are there more viewers in espanol?
Speaker 3I want to hear the. It's a fair question on the french announcers table, so we we look what was.
Speaker 2What was kind of interesting that I I found interesting last night was they went back to day one and they played the clips from all the different countries yes, uh-huh who are broadcasting it, and they did have the french announced team and the turkish announced team and I don't know what.
Speaker 3I got nothing. What about turk? What about the sign language team?
Speaker 2uh, the asl team, that was pretty quiet. You know, much like at the special olympics when the when the deaf team can't wake up because they can't hear the alarm, right uh homage to family guy.
Speaker 3Yes, I think you just really. Yeah, you went there. Yeah, I went there you went there.
Speaker 2I didn't go there. Family guy went there. I'm just repeating it, he went there. Yeah, I went there. I didn't go there. Family guy went there. I'm just repeating it, he went there.
Speaker 1So, so the big deal, yeah, so the big deal.
Speaker 2CM Punk wins the title and then we hear he's the five minute man, baby, five minute champion, and then we hear Burn it down and I kept waiting for it. I was like, come on, come on, come on, yep, and seth rollins comes out. Seth, and this is freaking rollins, and this is what we have to say about, uh, the whole thing, because I watched, I don't know, did you see his interview today? Seth rollins, all right. So seth rollins was interviewed today on the rich eisen show because when he was injured he actually took over for rich eisen for a day and did the show.
Speaker 2Right and he had the crutches and all that stuff, Complete kayfabe, complete work.
Speaker 3the whole thing Awesome Everything I read. Said he was really hurt.
Speaker 2Yeah. And so when he was interviewed today he said his wife Becky Lynch the man yeah, she's the man Was mad because he had to play up the gimmick the whole time. So he took her to a nice steak dinner and he did the crutches. And when he dropped his kid off at preschool he took the crutches.
Speaker 1Well, did you see her when it was happening? And they did a thing with her and she goes. Were my post misleading?
Speaker 2Yes, they were and it was awesome. He said that he was really getting aggravated with it because it was, it was painful, like doing the crutches.
Speaker 1Being on crutches is not fun. One of us knows all the time.
Speaker 2That's true a little bit they're not fun no, the one that's generally a little more quiet during the wrestling, because we do 100 but he is wearing a wrestling shirt yes we are both rocking some collar and elbow. That's true. I didn't get the memo You're wearing the. I got lucky on mine.
Speaker 3Lucky in Kentucky.
Speaker 2I would warn, the ring in a row.
Speaker 1Where do you put the Seth Rollins? Oh, it's way up there, it's way up there, it's super good.
Speaker 2His music hits and everyone's like, oh my god, oh my god.
SummerSlam Day One Highlights
Speaker 1And then he comes out and he's still on the crutches and he's hobbling down and he basically says I got, I got time, I'm coming after you, blah, blah, blah turns around, hobbles back, stops and perfect timing dropping the crutches. Drops the crutches. Perfect timing with the song.
Speaker 2Turns around, takes the knee brace off, takes the glasses off Knee brace, comes off, runs to the ring. It was a holy ass moment. Yes, it was. It was, I agree.
Speaker 1So that was what other big highlights from that one? Yeah, so oh, jelly Roll, jelly Roll getting put through the table. You know what was great about that match is they always put the celebrities over, always, and I was so happy that they didn't. And I'm a big fan of Jelly Roll singing yeah, I am I do not like the idiot that he wrestled though but look, logan paul's legit.
Speaker 1I can tell you that frog splash on the top row onto the spanish announce table. That was awesome. That dude can do things nobody else can do. He's legit, he's whacked out.
Speaker 2Here's the thing he is really good at what he does, because he ticks everyone off, everybody. Everyone hates him. Okay, here's a great example of that. You know, you remember they said the other day that the ljn wrestling figures, they're bringing them back at target. So you can pre-order them now, and one of them is the hulk hogan, the original one. I have that one right. One is a dusty roads. Uh, one is a john cena. Give me that, was it, what was?
Speaker 3that smile dusty roads had, was it the million dollar smile?
Speaker 2awkward. No, it's what he did, you did. And. And the other one, the the fourth one in the series, is logan paul right. I went online last night to target to pre-order. I was like I gotta get the hulk hogan one right. Hulk hogan, john cena. Dusty roads sold out for pre-sale right. Guess which one? You can still get logan paul. You can still get to logan paul everybody hates logan paul, but he's really good I I have a million percent in agreement with greg. The man can can do things that no one else does.
Speaker 1Yeah, he's got some moves that nobody else can do when he did that frog splash yeah, that was did you see the point of view frog splash that was on going around twitter?
Speaker 3where he had a camera on him and yeah I mean he's way up there, dude well, here's what I like about. Yeah, he was way up there, but what he did you could tell. The jelly roll was laying there prepping for it yeah, sure, and when he? Hit him, he hit him, he took. Logan paul took all the hit on his elbows and his knees. Jelly Roll didn't feel a thing when he hit. He hit so perfect.
Speaker 2He raised up right when he hit him, which is what you're supposed to do. It looked great, but what was funny was you could see him scooting up. Oh yeah, he scooted up on the table.
Speaker 1Yeah, but you know what? It was not a terrible match. It wasn't. Most of the celebrity matches are terrible.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Now they said he was doing the Ric Flair strut. I thought it looked more like Jeff Jarrett to be honest A million percent. Jeff Jarrett, that's who I thought too. They kept saying Ric Flair, but I was like that's.
Speaker 3Jeff Jarrett's strut, just for the record. You mean the. I love a Jeff Jarrett.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was so. Okay, let's talk about the first match of the evening. Yes, roman reigns.
Speaker 1Yeah, teaming up with jay uso, first of all. How awesome is it?
Speaker 2he's the tribal thief by having the shoes walking down with the shoes, that's so good things like that.
Speaker 1That's so good. Um, now, I know I'm in the minority of wrestling fans here, but I'm over jay main event. Jay uso. No, you, you are. I'm over J main event. J Uso no, you are.
Speaker 2I'm over it. In this room you and I are alike on that. I think what's interesting is now that we can watch the WWE Unreal and kind of see the behind the scenes. And you see, when Triple H goes and talks to J Uso, he says I'm going to put you to the moon or whatever right.
Speaker 2He's definitely doing it. Yeah, and I don't think Jay Uso really came through. Um, I mean, he's obviously still really popular, but I thought it was telling that the night they, they, uh, you know that he won. Uh, he gets hammered. Oh yeah, he, he gets hammered.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, he's not ready for that. No, he's not ready for that role.
Speaker 2No, but the match itself. There were some great spots in the match.
Speaker 1Do you know the one thing? I was late watching that match, as you know Right, and I went back and watched it. Do you know the one thing that drove me crazy? And it's happened the last two matches? You know he's big about doing his song over and over again.
Speaker 2Don't do it in the middle of a match. That's stupid. And he even had Roman jumping in with him.
Speaker 1I think that's dumb.
Speaker 2I thought Roman Reigns looked great, as always.
Speaker 1But he is the needle. You and I have talked about that. He shifts the needle. If he's there, they sell more tickets. He's just not gonna be there much longer.
Speaker 2No, no, I mean, he is as you said. He's the straw that stirs the drink and um it, it's kind of. It's kind of interesting, I think, what we're going to see moving forward after we recap day two. What are they going to do? Who's going to be kind of the next in line to go after the titles, because now you've got Seth Rollins as the world heavyweight champion?
Speaker 1Undisputed. No, cody Rhodes is the new undisputed. Seth Rollins is the heavyweight champion of the world. Cody Rhodes is the undisputed champion.
Speaker 2Yeah, so I thought the first match was good. You know, I have no issues with the way it ended, other than it looks like Braun Breaker is truly injured.
Speaker 1Yeah, they can't do another. I'm faking hurt.
CM Punk vs Gunter Match
Speaker 2I mean, if he's hurt, he's going to be hurt, yeah he looked legitimately hurt because it was all behind the scenes stuff. It wasn't like he was limping in front of everyone.
Speaker 1Do you know? The funniest thing about that match though I don't know if you all noticed this or not, but I didn't notice it during the match, but I noticed it on Twitter. You know, when Braun Breaker's getting ready to do one of his big spears, he takes his straps off his shoulder. He takes his straps off, so they were already down around his waist.
Speaker 2So he puts it back on. I thought that was great.
Speaker 1I saw it live and I was like oh, my God, that's awesome, it was awesome. I was like wait a minute, did he really just do that?
Speaker 2What so? What else was for night? One Cause it's. It blends together after yeah.
Speaker 1I was. I was pulling at the results. Oh, we had a women's title match. That made sense to us, with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss winning the titles that all made sense. The match that nobody cared about. I don't think Sami Zayn versus Karrion Kross I mean Sami Zayn's not mattered, since the bloodline and you know, the WWE fans are just all about carrying cross.
Speaker 2They love them.
Speaker 1Some carrying cross but is he done?
Speaker 2he's done, I think he's done and you know, at the uh last night after the day two, they had triple h come out. They're interviewing him and the fans are all chanting we want cross, we want cross, and he was like, and triple h was like. I know you want the surprise person from last night, right, uh, which we haven't mentioned yet which I'm not saying the name, but that's what.
Speaker 1That's not what they were chanting right, yeah so, and the other match we haven't talked about, the only other match from night one was tiffany stratton beating jade cargill, and that was a seven minute match fast like, a fast like, and it was.
Speaker 2It was a clean, decisive. No, no issues. Yeah, it was like what you would see on a smackdown or something.
Speaker 1Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2It was not an impressive match yeah, and I don't know what what that was all about, if they were just, you know, running short of time and maybe too many yeets in the first match they were a bunch of yeets, so so nat two started out with the triple threat women's world championship match. Chris, are you still with us?
Speaker 1We'll run through these quick, so Naomi retained the title.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1EO Sky lost EO Sky and Rhea Ripley got beat. I saw that yeah, naomi kept the title. She is definitely the worst of the three Is she won in the yellow outfit caution tape. Nope, not a fan no, I mean Rhea Ripley.
Speaker 2If it was, she's the best and it's not close and as far as technical stuff and high flying stuff, io Sky she has earned my respect.
Speaker 3She reminds me of old Ray Mysterio.
Speaker 2She's a lot like that, she can do a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1The next match. The only thing it had going for it was it was a tables, ladders and chairs match.
Speaker 3The tag team nonsense.
Speaker 1And there were 78 people in the ring at the same time and who cares Right, it was a who cares moment.
Speaker 3But I gotta tell you there and who cares? Right, it was a who cares moment but I got to tell you there were some great spots there were some great spots in it, though, some great ladders busting.
Speaker 1But that's all it had going for it. Tag team wrestling is at the lowest point it's ever been.
Speaker 2It's terrible. Yeah, something's got to give there. Put the Usos back together.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's what it was better. Bring back the New. I get it. I'd be okay with that.
Speaker 1It couldn't be worse you didn't know.
Speaker 2Bring back the road warriors. Oh wait.
Speaker 1Bring back the Dudley boys, they're 70.
Speaker 2And they'd be the champs today. By the way, before we get to other matches, can I just say Slim, jim Boy, it's smart. They advertised on all of the tables.
Speaker 1How many tables were put through last night. But wait, where was the match? Wait a minute. Where was LA? Oh, wait a minute. Yeah, sorry, la nuts, that's spokesperson for slim Jim. Where was he at? In slumber, slam, where was he?
Speaker 2Yeah, you know where he was Sidelines. Oh wait, that's music I meant. I meant that's where he was, is it?
Speaker 3that one? No, it's not that one.
Speaker 2Did he do something wrong or something? Why are my buttons all messed up? That's a fun fact.
Speaker 1Yeah, where was he at At home sleeping? Did he get kicked out, or what? No, I mean Triple H, just don't like him. Oh, I mean he's got the crowd. Yeah, it's awful, it's awful. So anyway you telling me, look, Sammy Zane won. The crowd likes LA Knight more than Sammy Zane.
Speaker 2LA Knight is going to be on Raw tonight and I'm predicting right now it is what 749, 11 minutes until Raw. I'm predicting we're going to see some stuff tonight with LA Knight. He's going to come out and he's either joining Seth Rollins in that faction which I can't see happening or he's going to get involved big time and he's going to have a promo tonight and they're going to start pushing him.
Speaker 1That's my hope he deserves it yeah.
Speaker 2A hundred percent. What was the next match? Becky Lynch.
Speaker 1Keeping the title.
Seth Rollins' Shocking Return
Speaker 2Sato masochistic. I know you didn't see this match, but there was torture via choking with a chain, oh yeah. Zip-tied handcuffs. I saw that, yeah, I did see that.
Speaker 3Yeah, I did see that. I saw the highlights of that.
Speaker 1The next match was one I thought would be really good.
Speaker 2Yeah, Steel cage match Jacob Fatu and Solo Sequoia, and it was a snoozer, it was an absolute, as I mentioned earlier, like you would see, on a Friday night, smackdown, it was just not good.
Speaker 1The next match was one of the MFTs. Climbs the cage and handcuffs Jacob Fatu to the cage. Yeah, but Jacob Fatu literally puts his hand up there and holds it there for him to handcuff him to it what's an MFT? That's the people with Solo Sequoia, the three guys. Yeah, so he literally just holds his arm up there for him to handcuff to it and as soon as he does, he just breaks it. They say he breaks the handcuff because he said it was terrible.
Speaker 1It was not good. Then you had Dirty Dom against AJ Styles.
Speaker 2I appreciate the flashback paying homage to Eddie Guerrero. I love that.
Speaker 1That was the only good part of that match.
Speaker 2The only good part Become a low rider.
Speaker 3AJ.
Speaker 2Styles did.
Speaker 1But during the match, dirty Dom gets a steel chair referee's backstab and he hits it down on the mat. Makes it settle. He throws it to AJ Styles and he falls down like he's dead, yeah. But then AJ Styles says okay, and then he tacks it around his head and then he falls down and then he falls down.
Speaker 2So the ref didn't have any idea what to do. Yeah, that was good. That was the best part of that match. That's great. And I know they're not going to give AJ Styles a push. I mean, he's older.
Speaker 1He's old. Is he going back to TNA?
Speaker 2I don't know, wasn't he there not?
Speaker 1long ago. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2I prefer TNA. I am ready. I am ready for a true challenger to to dirty dom. This has got to end. I'm ready for the gold to leave the waste of dirty dom and all of the other but he's got the perfect stack yeah, he looks like a slime bag.
Speaker 1yeah. And last but not least, yes, the main event. You and I were texting saying the main event's got to save the night because it wasn't a good night and and having had a day to think about it, yeah, I think they did a disservice by the way they did it. Yeah, yeah so so the match goes, great match. Who's in it? You didn't do it. John Cena and Cody Rhodes. There you go. Great match, great. John Cena's got the crowd behind him.
Speaker 3Still, still being the bad guy.
Speaker 1No, he changed a good, he changed a, he changed to good on Friday night, but I thought everybody loved Cody Rhodes.
Speaker 1Well, they were booing him. They were totally more for John Cena. So Cody Rhodes said he wanted the best, john Cena, and you missed this on SmackDown. And then John Cena said I don't hate wrestling, I love wrestling. I'm going to give you my best. You've lit a fire under me. He turned back to a baby face instantly and people got behind him instantly, yep, behind him instantly, yep, yep. And they were all behind him like that and it was a great match. They let cody rhodes win clean clean.
Speaker 2Yeah, no interference, no, nothing.
Speaker 1I thought, I thought the match if you just look at it in and of itself great match and it was to me it was a passing of the torch from from our generation not yours, mark, but mine and chris's generation and we'd have to go back to like dino bravo or something like that for more your generation.
Logan Paul and Jelly Roll
Speaker 1Yeah, maybe dick the bruiser right something like that, but for it was passing the torch from baby face to baby face, yeah, from our generation to the younger generation. They had an emotional hug after the match blah, blah, blah. And then. Is that what people are talking about? No, what people are talking about is brock lesnar shows up yep, brock lester shows up after cody rhodes has already went backstage yep. John cena's staying out getting love from the crowd yep. And lester shows up, comes down, does f5 on whatever it's called on. John Cena rolls out.
Speaker 3Did they hate each other or something they had?
Speaker 2a big rivalry at one time, and Cena supposedly wanted to work with Brock Lesnar on this last farewell tour. Yeah, but it didn't have to happen last night. No, it did not.
Speaker 1I thought it took away from last night. It did.
Speaker 2Honestly it did.
Speaker 1I mean Cody rose won the championship right, he got very little fanfare, that's that nobody's talking about that no, and I don't look, you know I'm not a big fan of cody road right, but I thought it was a disservice to the title.
Speaker 2I have grown also to respect cody roads so much because he puts his body on the line, unlike some of these other guys, and, uh, some of the bumps he takes for being the baby face. I mean they're stupendous. Yeah, he is the baby face and John Cena being a 48 year old man, and he took that uh flip onto the uh oh, what'd he call it? The barricade last night that couldn't have felt good, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3Okay, I really thought it was dumb where they went under the stage and then he came back on the elevator yeah with uh cody rhodes on his shoulders, like really I just it's like what are they doing under the state right, the spanish?
Speaker 1announcers table. Trying to figure it out cinema was okay, but it it didn't do anything.
Speaker 2Yeah yeah, uh, when they did that, actually I thought they were setting it up for the rock or someone to come out so I think there was a bunch of things they could have done differently.
Speaker 1Yeah, so, first of all, I think if they were really wanting to shock people, they could have had seth rollins come last night and take it back away from cody rhodes, more than taking it away from cm punk.
Speaker 1I know he hates CM Punk Right. But people were kind of expecting Seth Rollins that night. Yeah, but if Seth Rollins didn't come out that night and came out and cashed in last night, that would have been a bigger shock. That would have been wild. And did I make up that the Rock was involved in the turn of John Cena? He?
Speaker 2100% was.
Speaker 1And Travis Scott was there. I don't care if travis scott comes back ever, but did that just die on the vine, or what's happened.
Speaker 2Cena mentioned it just a kind of really subtly on smackdown when he said you know, there are people that I was listening to that are no longer here, right, and that's obviously who he's talking about but, they could have had the rock come out and do the exact opposite and have Cody Rhodes turn Right, and that would have been better.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, I mean there's a bunch of, there's a bunch of ways I could have thought it would have been better.
Speaker 2Now here's what I'll say about Brock Lesnar. He is the beast.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2He's beast yeah, he's legit. I mean, yeah, he kicked butt in ufc too. Yeah, I mean he's legit. When, when the b as triple h said after the show last night, when the beast is in wwe, things are just different, right, and so I'm really looking forward to these next four or five months.
Speaker 1So so, but I agree with you, I thought it was a disservice to that match so I was reading online stuff today and stuff and it's saying you know him and Cena's gonna have their thing, but then is he gonna fight your boy the ring general? Next WrestleMania.
Speaker 2Man I. I hope that Gunter gets the push that he deserves. Here's the thing I love CM Punk. You guys know that I adore Gunter. He's the man.
Speaker 1I think he's the best talent's the thing I love CM Punk.
Speaker 2You guys, yeah, you do I. I adore Gunter. He's the man. I think he's the best talent in the world. He carried CM Punk. Cm Punk was so tired.
Speaker 2He was yeah you could just watch him. He was just like, and Gunter just carried. That match made it a just a freaking great match. I thought we had two really, really good matches this weekend that one and then the main event last night. Right, I had no issues whatsoever with either of them. However, when Gunter comes back, they better push him to the moon, and I I want to see him get a push for the undisputed championship.
Speaker 1So now we can't talk about wrestling without talking about the death of Hulk.
Speaker 2Hogan, and this is where Chris is going to wake up. There we go, I'm back, let's go, let's go. I can hear that because I am not dead.
Speaker 3Yes, hulk Hogan passed. What a shock and what a shame. Yeah, heart attack, he built wrestling. I don't care what anybody says.
Speaker 1There's no question.
Speaker 3It was mainstream.
Speaker 1because of him, wrestling would be nowhere near where it is today, but for him.
Speaker 2We wouldn't be talking about it on this podcast. No, I agree.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean no question. Who did he win the title from when he won it the first time? I know, I know, you know. Oh yeah, I know the date. I don't know the date, I'm ready, but you were probably in your no the iron chic.
Speaker 2January 23rd 1984, madison square garden. Against the iron chic.
Speaker 3Yeah that was like your 40th birthday. I remember it like it was yesterday. Yeah, I mean, right, look the iron chic had the green championship belt.
Speaker 2The belt was green with gold. It was the ugliest. That's where he had the green championship belt. The belt was green with gold.
Speaker 3It was the ugliest championship belt. That's where he won the green fairy shoes right.
Speaker 1He did have those. Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 2And he would load them up.
Speaker 1Oh yeah he'll load them.
Speaker 3I'm going to put a lid in my shoes. Here's another.
Speaker 2Okay, if we're getting into some deep trivia from back in the day. Who was Iron Sheik's manager? If we're getting into some deep trivia from back in the day. Who was iron sheik's manager? Ali Akbar Classy, Freddie Blassie.
Speaker 3Oh, yep, he wears robes. Then, when he was a manager, he wears robes.
Speaker 2No, so um, the iron sheik only had that title for a really short time, not seeing punk short.
Speaker 1No, but it was Drew McIntyre.
Speaker 2short it was less than two months. When he won the title, he defeated one of your least favorite wrestlers of all time, who had been the champion for I mean a long time. Iron Sheik defeated Bob Backlund.
Speaker 3I can't stand Bob Backlund.
