The conversation starts with an argument everyone has had at least once: what fast food burger is actually worth your money. We go straight at Five Guys, In-N-Out, and Culver’s, down to the fries, toppings, and the little details that turn a “pretty good burger” into the one you keep thinking about. It’s not a food review as much as it is a debate about taste, value, and why hype sometimes holds up and sometimes doesn’t. If you love fast food rankings and you’ve got a strong opinion about jalapeños, you’re in the right place.
From there, we pivot into what really grinds our gears: traffic. We talk road rage, how people get weirdly personal behind the wheel, and why the zipper merge becomes a daily test of basic decency. “Give one, take one” should be simple, but we unpack exactly why it collapses in the real world, plus the stoplight habits and lane games that make a short commute feel like an endurance event. We also hit a few everyday-life detours, including decluttering, parking spot ethics, Larry David reactions, and a painfully relatable tech support call with an older neighbor.
Then it’s side hustles and sports. We get into starting an LLC for a small art business, avoiding the junk mail that shows up the second you file paperwork, and the idea of selling work to support local events. We trade travel notes from Pittsburgh, argue about MLB’s extra innings ghost runner rule, and take a country music turn with Charlie Daniels Band and Johnny Paycheck. We wrap with baseball bets, college football anticipation, and a food bracket finale that crowns a champion.
Subscribe for more real talk and friendly arguments, share this with the one person who never zipper merges, and leave a review with your vote: brisket, wings, or something else entirely?
Fast Food Burger Rankings
SPEAKER_04Three guys around a table. By three guys, we're talking about three friends a lawyer, an engineer, and a school superintendent.
SPEAKER_02And just like our personalities, our opinions vary, and we certainly don't always agree. Whether we're discussing the best of or giving our tips and tricks of things in everyday life, you're sure to learn something if you stick around. Do you know why five guys' burgers cost so much money? Why? Because they're worth it.
SPEAKER_04Did you get you get you some five guys?
SPEAKER_02It's a pretty good burger. It is a fantastic burger. I've not had five guys in probably a year. It's pretty good. But I've been thinking about that lately. They are so good. Yeah, they're good. And the and the fries? Well, and I like the peanuts. Oh, and the peanuts. Yes. The fries I like it because I order a large and I walk out with a trash bag full.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02And the Cajun fries, and they don't hold back on the Cajun season. I've never had Cajun fries. They're good. They're really good. What I like about their burgers on their toppings. When you get jalapenos, they're raw jalapenos. Not many people do that. In N Out does that. In and Out. Yours, I know.
SPEAKER_04Now so I know we've we've gone down this road many a time, but I I saw something recently that was talking about how In N Out, you know, this this guy did a TikTok where he claims that the best fast food burger is Culver's butter burger. That's fake enough. I never had it. Yeah, I've had it.
SPEAKER_03It's fine. Right?
SPEAKER_04I mean, I would I probably could think of five right now I like better. I I would agree. And um now overall the culverse experience is good. Really good. Really good.
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean? This will probably make gross you out, Chris. Culver's used to have a pot roast dinner. You like pots, and it was awesome. Oh yeah. Yeah, they had pot roasts. They still have a pot roast sandwich. Yeah, I've never had I've never had the pot roast sandwich, but they used to have the dinner, and that's what I'd always get. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know what Culver says that I like? Their fried fish is good.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. It's good. Oh, they have uh during some, like especially during Lent, they have
Listener Request Clip Delivered
SPEAKER_04walleye. Oh no, I like some walleye. Yeah. Haddock though, Haddock is where it's at. I I do not disagree. Um before we get started, I I just wanted to uh I wanted to say that um I had a request from a listener. Oh and um this was the request they wanted to hear this.
SPEAKER_00All of a sudden a huge creature from the payload listening comes out of the water.
SPEAKER_01I jumped up in the boat at that time. What on earth is that creature? He stood above it looking down with these big red eyes. And I yelled, I said, What do you want from us, monster? And the monster bent down and said, I need about 350.
SPEAKER_04That's funny. That was a that was a request, uh listener request, and it has been fulfilled. Was that from like Sri Lanka or somewhere like that? Uh no, no, no. This was this was a United States of America. Monster, what do you want? I need about 350.
SPEAKER_02I need about 350. I can't listen to that and not laugh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so
Traffic Rants And Zipper Merge
SPEAKER_03we're a little bit of what grinds your gears.
SPEAKER_02You know, I've got a lot of stuff that grinds my gears. Um I don't know where I'm gonna go. Give us one really um mainly traffic's what's really getting my nerves again today.
SPEAKER_03Do you know that people get more descriptive in traffic?
SPEAKER_02You mean when I'm calling the guy out there, I'm not just saying he's a jerk. I'm calling him a blank.
SPEAKER_03Who I thought was one of the funniest comedians that I've ever seen was a guy named Ralphie May. Huge man. Huge, really short, huge. But he does this special and he says that people get um he says more racist in traffic. Okay. He said, because if somebody cut you off or something like that, your first thought is not you human, you person. I mean, and he's not wrong. Wants to find a qualifier, in other words, right? And he's not wrong. So but um traffic right now for the last three or four months, for me and you in particular, yeah, driving to Lexington has been miserable because there's been construction on every road to get there. Yep. Uh I mean the interstate had construction. Uh old Frankfurt Pike had construction. Uh Ver Sales Road's the only one that I has it had construction? Uh that may be the only one that has it, but it's miserable.
SPEAKER_02It has at um at um uh Waller Avenue. What's it's not Waller, what's it on that part?
SPEAKER_03I mean, so it's just miserable though.
SPEAKER_04So would it be appropriate then if I shared uh one of my favorite Family Guy clips that is exactly what you're doing? Can you tell our listeners how long of a commute you have before you do this? It literally is two minutes. Oh and that's on a bad day. How many miles you got on that vehicle now? Uh four. 18,000. Uh it is you've had it for like seven years. No, yeah, no, no.
SPEAKER_0218,000. Yep. What year is it?
SPEAKER_04That's a 2024. Greg, how many miles you got now? Uh 63,000 in the change. I blew by you. And you bought and you bought yours after I bought mine. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I blew by you. And Chris got his after I got mine.
SPEAKER_04So this is uh this is a family guy uh clip, one of my favorites, um, talking about an Asian driver, which hey, you know, this is not this is not us. This is this is this is family guy. So I think we're allowed to I don't know that we own the rights to this, but how much signal I need to cut across eight lane?
SPEAKER_01None? I turn now. Good luck, everybody else.
SPEAKER_04How much signal I'm gonna do. So I'm just wondering if that is kind of in line with where you're at.
SPEAKER_02You know, I think the biggest problem I have is the quote unquote zip. Yeah, when you're going from two lanes to one, I'm often wondering. It's the same thing when you go to church on a Sunday. If you go to the mega church and people are leaving, the people you sit next in there to, you know, and sing the hymns with are the ones that cut you off and won't let you get in front of them to get out of the church parking lot. But on the zipper merge, do you think it would be possible and would it work if you put a stoplight there and everybody had to come to a stop and it alternated? Left, right, left, right? Would that keep it? I am a zipper merge kind of, but I'm the guy that gets I'll get in the middle of the lane so people can't pass me. That doesn't express it. Even though I'm a zipper merge guy. But it drives me crazy because nobody knows how to do it.
SPEAKER_04Maybe you should explain zipper merge for our listeners.
SPEAKER_02Give one, take one. Give one, take one. Give one, take one. And as long as you do that, traffic moves.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But the problem is, I'm gonna get if the right lane's closed, everybody starts getting in the left hand lane for three miles back. And they get mad when everybody runs up the right hand side. I'm a run up the right hand side. I am too, and then I get mad at people and I get in the middle. But the thing is, if everybody just kept in the two lanes and just merged in between, you would go faster.
SPEAKER_04I agree.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I'm a give one take one kind of guy. I can see that. I mean, it's a even like when we were in Pittsburgh this weekend trying to come out of a parking garage and they the two lanes merged into one. I'm like, give one, take one, give one, take one, let's go. Oh yeah. And then you would have the guy who would be like, I'm gonna let five people out.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. No, UK football's the worst about that. I'm gonna sit here and let seven, eight people out. Or you've also got that idiot that if you're sitting in a stoplight and you're not within two feet of the car in front of you, I hate you. I hate when you're sitting there and there's two car links of the car, you're sitting behind a car and there's two car links open in front of him before the next car. So I think we need to. Yeah, I get it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so we've all ridden with each other. You all have ridden, you all have ridden with me and my.
SPEAKER_03We have ridden with you way less than you've ridden with us just one.
SPEAKER_04And that's and that's because we're still not there yet. It's because we're all about we're gonna get there. I drive extraordinarily cautiously. Uh don't you call it slowly. Oh, okay. I have I have been in your vehicle with you where I thought our lives were going to end because of the words coming out of your mouth and being almost within an inch of the vehicle in front of you, screaming at the person. Go. Very descriptive.
SPEAKER_03You've never been in the truck with him when he thought we were he was wrecking. No. You remember when we were getting on the bluegrass for the Anders cutting, you thought you were gonna hit the side couple because you were like, oh no, no, no, no. Look, all I gotta say is I mean, it's very rare, but I mean, he was like, he thought we were wrecking.
SPEAKER_02So there's there's still a hole in the seat in that truck for that. That was not this vehicle, no, it was the prior one.
SPEAKER_04Logan, congratulations. Wow.
Decluttering Finds And Parking Ethics
SPEAKER_04Oh, um, by the way, completely off topic, but I have a signed baseball from the 2021 Western Hills baseball team as both of your young uh sons happen to have your young son's signature on the ball. And uh again, I'm going through stuff today and I set this ball out to see whoever wants it because it has yours your son's signature.
SPEAKER_02So whoever wants it, it's your ask, what's the purpose? Are we uh clearing our office out for good, or what are we doing?
SPEAKER_03We just uh you know work for Fayette County.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's what I heard. Rumor on the street.
SPEAKER_04We're clearing some things out. A rumor on the street is they'll pay you not to work up there. Well, we're we're we're we're we're decluttering a little bit. So I'm for minimalism. I got no problem with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So anyway, didn't mean interrupt. Wow. So we're still driving gears. Traffic. Traffic stinks.
SPEAKER_02Traffic is terrible. People don't know how to drive. That's just the way it is. That's just it. Yeah. And I hate to I hate to be this way. But did you know there's some people out there that get a you get a special special tag, a permit that hangs from the rear view mirror that tells you they can't drive?
SPEAKER_04Well, s and and I've been led to believe that there are certain people who get these stickers hangy thingies, and uh use them for their advantage in parking situations. So I've I've heard that that's I will allow it. Those people can't drive most of the time. So when um I think we should just, you know, just say that when when a loved one passes who has one of those stickers and happens to have three children, and the good one uh takes said sticker, changes the date so it doesn't run out until 2029. Oh and uh now gets prime spark parking. Is that is that wrong? If I'm wrong, he listened to the show to me. If he's wrong, I don't want to be a rat. He happened to tell me a story about getting a prime parking spot at the Western and Southern tennis open where they literally he pulled in, got out and limped a little, and then that's what I was gonna say. Did he limp a little and they they picked him up at his car, drove him in a golf cart up to you know what?
SPEAKER_02That's what that reminds me. You'll see this meme sometimes. Your worst nightmare realized. It shows a guy, you see his feet with his pants down around his ankles. You can tell he's in a stall, and outside the stall, you see the bottom of a wheelchair, and the guy's in the handicap stall. Who doesn't?
SPEAKER_04I mean, but the handicap stalls you can spread out. Room for activities.
SPEAKER_03It's first come, first serve, according to Larry David.
SPEAKER_02You know, there's parallel bars in there, too. You can do all kinds of gymnastics and stuff.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and as you guys know, I aspire to be more like Larry David. That's true.
SPEAKER_02You're getting here more every day.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Thank you. Yep. Yep. I take that as a compliment. That may be the nicest thing
Larry David Takes And New Listeners
SPEAKER_03you've ever seen to me. And and so this is true.
SPEAKER_01That's true.
SPEAKER_04This is kind of a potpourri episode, right? Absolutely. So have you all seen Larry David's new show? I've watched two episodes.
SPEAKER_02I have not watched it, but I know the premise.
SPEAKER_04I don't see the premise behind it. I I have I don't love it. I've watched the first episode and I haven't moved on since then. I heard in the second episode there's a pretty good skit where uh uh Rob Reiner is playing George Washington. Is that that episode? And uh Rob Reiner. Yeah, before he passed. It's like the last thing he filmed. Yeah, I mean, I don't love it. Yeah, I I haven't I didn't love the first episode. It was the first episode I didn't care for.
SPEAKER_02Correct me if I'm wrong. It's just Larry David being Larry David.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's what it is, but there's no humor to it like the show he tries to say funny things, but it's just it's it's difficult. Yeah, yeah. It's it's a little uh if you're expecting it to be curb your enthusiasm, it is not.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's a shame.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So which was a great show, by the way.
SPEAKER_04Oh, and by the way, I really should give a shout out to some new listeners. So um Clifton, New Jersey, thank you for checking in. Oh, thank you for checking in.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna love that video you just played.
SPEAKER_04I agree. About the driving. Uh Brookhaven, Georgia, and Reading, Massachusetts. Four of our newest locations uh this week.
SPEAKER_02Have you seen anybody seen the old man across the street this week? I saw him driving his car. I had two calls prior to 8 a.m. this morning. Good. Hope you liked it.
SPEAKER_04Uh Chris, uh what was the deal today?
SPEAKER_02Uh his cameras, they quit working over the weekend.
SPEAKER_03Uh I I got a thing. Mine did too. Yep. I got a thing that said you just gotta restart your base and restart the base and it's all good.
SPEAKER_02But I had to talk him through on how to do it, which Okay. Uh you know the white uh transmitter? Yep. Okay, I need you to take it down. Okay. There's a white cord and a black cord. Yep. There's a black button between them. Yep. I want you to turn the black button off. And while we're at it, go ahead and pull out the black cord. Okay. You want to pull out the white cord or the black cord? I said, let's pull the black cord out. Okay. Now what? I said, just sit there and hold it for a little bit. We're gonna let it reset, you know, whatever. Okay. Let's put it back in. Put what white back in? The black cord. Oh, I already put it back in. Okay, no problem. Hit the white black button, but every I mean, this takes what I just said in 10 seconds was a three-minute conversation. Nice.
SPEAKER_03Painful. I I wished I had a father to have that kind of conversation with.
SPEAKER_04Well, you and I have not lived the cherished life that we we are not not orphans. Correct. So, you know. I got a call from his daughter.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what's your sister.
SPEAKER_02No. I mean or your sister. I didn't I mean saying she said, I don't know what's wrong with him. He used to be this and this and this. And I said, well, number one, he's almost 85 years old. That could be part of the problem. 100%. And number two, I don't believe any of this crap. I think he has no common sense whatsoever, nor do I think he ever had it. I think he could read a manual and put it back together. That's about it.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'm just glad you're saying he could read. It's yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04When did you get him for Father's Day this year, by the way?
SPEAKER_03You know what's funny? I didn't even call him. Right. He had to start my father. You don't expect him to really hand deliver a gift, right? Because he's not my father. Uh, Jeeves, would you please have a legal documentation that says otherwise?
SPEAKER_04It's true. Uh hey, you can't get around legal documentation. Legal documentation.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you're you're you're you're stating your opinion. I have a I have a police court document that says otherwise. Yep.
SPEAKER_04Since it's a poopery issue. Uh uh.
SPEAKER_03Anything
Control Issues And The Unknown
SPEAKER_03else grind your gears real quick?
SPEAKER_02Everything, everything grinds my gears. You know what really grinds my gears is when you're getting ready to go into a situation that you know very little about and you have no knowledge.
SPEAKER_03I have no idea what you're talking about. And never had that experience.
SPEAKER_02And then you can't prepare for it because you don't know what to expect. I don't like that feeling.
SPEAKER_03Never had it. Well, but struggle bus.
SPEAKER_02Struggle bus. Yeah, I can see that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, let's be honest about it. You've got a little bit of a control issue. Yeah. You like to be in charge of things, and this is not something you can be in charge of. Correct. And that's that's a little bit of a problem for you.
SPEAKER_02No matter what you do, you can't get any answers of anything because it's a if possibly this then that, then that, and it's just it's really hit me today that there's so much unknown that I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I would have thought they would have had a cure for scurvy by now, but obviously not. I thought I was just eating oranges. Yeah, I didn't know.
SPEAKER_04And what was that noise? What happened? Sorry about that. That is a notification saying that we're about ready to get a uh thunderstorm. Oh my gosh. Um I am seeing the thunder buddy go away. Yep. You've got to Elsa this thing. I know. I know I need to let it go. You really do. It'd be difficult, though. Yeah. I'd struggle with it. Of course. But at the end of the day, you've got to place your faith in the people that understand how to how to handle Richard's Barry Berry and Scurvy. The Barry Berry's the part that scares the hell out of the way. Thousand per se.
SPEAKER_02And lumbago. What was oh, you know what? I'm funny. It's funny. You say lumbago. I've only heard that word one time in my life. I heard one other person ever say that in my life prior to tonight. Okay. Do you know where? I've heard the word lumbago. Uh in a bug's bunny cartoon.
SPEAKER_04One of the shit.
SPEAKER_02Carousel or progress. He talks about his lumbago active. Well, there you go. In the carousel progress at Disney.
SPEAKER_03Of course. Great big bill world demonstration. Look, I've never been able to go to Disney because I can't afford it like some people. Some people have annual passes when they live in a different state. That's wealth. That is wealth. Lumbago. And it's weird. They got people that walk around with them and they get to go to the front of the line. I mean, I don't get it, but you know.
SPEAKER_02Lumbago.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_04So it's popery rolling on. Yep. Um, you got you got else of that. Yeah. Um, you know, you you can you can uh mind screw things and uh I think you're thinking a different word. Yes, exactly. And you and you can't uh you can't do that. You've just gotta, you know. Everything's been good up until today.
SPEAKER_02Today has been tough.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So how do you expect tomorrow to be then? Busy. Busy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Like busy. Yeah. Hey man, that you know, these these people are experts. They're getting paid a whole lot of money to take care of you. And pirates. Right. So what you got potpourry-wise?
Starting An LLC For Art
SPEAKER_04Um well, uh thanks to my lawyer, by the way. Uh I I have uh started an LLC. Oh, yeah. I have a I have a a new business, Quiet Light Studio, which is um for my art business, which is really just me painting pictures. And you know, I don't really truly think anyone's I'm I'm not gonna make a lot of money. I'll be a starving artist. Having said that, uh, it's good to to have the protection of the LLC. So I'm excited about that. Gonna uh my my hope is to try to sell a few paintings and donate that money to uh whoever is is hosting the event. Uh so like the band does this big bazaar at at Franklin County uh at Christmas time, and if I'm I'm gonna set up a booth there and if I can sell some things, 100% of it, I'm gonna give to that's awesome. Um The fact that the old man across the street's one of your nude models is a little strange. Well, you know, it it was I I have some very small fan brushes, the number, the number one and the number three fan brushes, and they did an excellent job on certain areas of stomach of the anatomy.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that anatomy.
SPEAKER_04Well, I was actually talking about the oozing pustules on the top. You know, you have to mix you have to mix yellow ochre with a little bit of Indian and throwing just a bit of stuff. It's just you know, just a little uh but I do have some uh a couple of questions for off air about the uh I got a I got your letter, and uh there's something I have to send back, but I don't know what it is.
SPEAKER_03Uh and you you said there was a self-address stamped on the It's not to you that was sending it to the county clerk, and that's just a copy for you. Okay, maybe read who the letter's to. I'm a little slow. Not that I'm awkward, you're awkward with us.
SPEAKER_04I'm just a little slow. And then I got and then the same day on Saturday that I got that copy, which was great. I got a couple letters from these companies that wanted to. They're all garbage. Okay, I thought so. It was like, uh, protect your employees. I'm gonna get your employees up. Yeah, how do you gonna do payroll? Uh yeah, exactly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So awesome.
Pittsburgh Trip And Baseball Rules
SPEAKER_03That's a good one. So we went to Pittsburgh this weekend. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's good. Hear about the bird. Uh did not have any of the traditional food of Pittsburgh. What'd you eat? I had no pierogies. Terrible. I had no um the burr or the sandwich that's got the coleslaw and the fries on it. Didn't have any of that. Uh, but did go to an excellent breakfast place. Yeah. What was it for breakfast or was it later on? It was for breakfast. Okay. It was on diners, drive-ins and dives. And uh pancakes. Um everybody said they were good. I don't know. I didn't have them. So what'd you get? I had steak and eggs. Hey, it was a diner steak, too. I mean, it was it was not purple and no.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't horse liver.
SPEAKER_03No, but it was not uh very thin crispy. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I wouldn't call it Jeff Ruby's by any means. Yeah. I actually wouldn't call it Longhorns or Texas Rodeuse or any of those. But uh Ponderosa. But the egg was cooked perfectly. So it was cooked well done, hard. Uh yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04Which brings up I think it had smelled some heat. Oh it was perfect. Which brings up an excellent question before you get back into Pittsburgh. Are should we go to the Waffle House tomorrow morning for breakfast? Oh, we can definitely do that.
SPEAKER_03We could not do that. No, one of us has to be in court. Ah, damn it. But felon. But felon. I thought what you were gonna say is, and this can happen. We can go to Pittsburgh when the lightning are there. Boom! That'd be cool. Boom. Shalom. Take Hallie out to dinner. Yes. And go. She wants to go to a game. Let's go. It's a cool place, man.
SPEAKER_04I've never been in there. So guess what? I've got a couple of extra. I now have four lightning jerseys. Sweet. So Holly can get some gets gets one. We can all go sport the lightning.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Take Halle out to dinner. Yep. I heard we've got a way to cruise up there in comfort in a new minivan, too. That shag and wagon. Yeah, baby. Shabbin wagon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I like it. Uh so yeah. So down for that. Went and watched the Cubs and Pirates. That's awesome. PNC Park's awesome. Who won? Who do you think? It did go into extra innings the game we watched. Cubs won three to two. Three baseball. Uh the next game, Cubs won big. They beat Paul Skeens to death. And they lost the third game.
SPEAKER_04Horrible baseball. If it goes into extra innings, I'm out. Sorry. And you know why? Extra inning rule. It's ridiculous. I mean, where they automatically put the ghost. Oh, we're gonna put a ghost runner on second. This is not baseball. I didn't love it. Um I am not a fan of that. I I'm sorry. Uh I don't I don't get it.
SPEAKER_03And this is news to you guys. Okay. Guess what I'm doing this weekend? Uh this weekend? Racing. On Monday. On Monday, it's my birthday. Yes. What do I typically do? You go to the Chicago? I'm going to Chicago on Sunday. Good for you, man. Good for you. They play the Yankees on Sunday afternoon. Ooh, we're on Chicago to it. Oh, yeah. There you go.
SPEAKER_04Man, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_03That'll be that'd be like an old style for me. We're gonna roll up early, go to Wildberries for breakfast, go to the game, get pizza afterwards, and roll out. That's home, but that's it's a long day, but to get a hotel room and then come back the next day. Oh, okay. So you're staying up there. Okay. We're staying all night. Okay.
SPEAKER_02That'll be have an old style for me. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_04Well, happy early birthday.
SPEAKER_02That'd be fine.
SPEAKER_04That's a big one. Yeah, you're gonna be big. Half a hundred.
SPEAKER_02About about fitting.
SPEAKER_04You know, uh on the downside of 150 of life.
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, if downside means 90, well, then you're on the downside.
SPEAKER_02Well, let's just face it. I think uh, what is it, 78 is life expectancy or 73? Um I think it's in the 80s now, but for women at least.
SPEAKER_04I don't have too many summers left.
SPEAKER_03Uh I just now, Mark, I gotta be honest with you, I almost texted you during the Cubs Pirates game. Okay. Because I did see Honas Wagner was on the Wall of Fame, and I almost asked you what it was like to watch him play in person.
SPEAKER_02So hey, did you see the ghost of Roberto Clemente walking around anywhere?
SPEAKER_03No. Okay, so one thing Chris said was right. I I made the right decision being on the third base side. Okay. Even though I would have much preferred to be at the Cubs dugout. Yep. The view from the third base side's amazing. Really? Yeah. I mean, you shot a picture, it was beautiful. Yeah, I mean, when you see the cities line, you see the Roberto Clemente Bridge. I mean, it's it's you mean the big yellow one? Which one? There's three in a row that are the exact same three.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Are they all the Roberto Clemente?
SPEAKER_03Nope. I just know his was yellow. One, the next one, the next okay. So something I learned. Uh, the three in a row, Andy Warhol's the next one. And then the lady who I can't remember her name.
SPEAKER_04But if the bridge is yellow. Did you really think a bridge was named after Kent Takalve? That's funny. If the bridge is yellow, it's for cars.
SPEAKER_03If the bridge is black, it's for trains. Really? Something I found out when I was on that cruise on that riverboat cruise. Interesting. I didn't know that. Uh yeah, me either.
SPEAKER_04That's like uh, you know, Manny Sarmiento uh expressway. That's hilarious. Can we find the most obscure Pittsburgh pirate? There's the uh jumbo.
SPEAKER_0379 is the current life expectancy.
SPEAKER_02There's the jumbo diaz, bro.
SPEAKER_0376 and a half for men and 81 and 81.4 for women. It dropped because of COVID. So, Mark, you're not very far away.
SPEAKER_02I mean, hey, you've had a good run. Hey, how you feeling? How you feeling?
SPEAKER_04You're looking at okay. Uh, would this be a good time to mention the dead pool? I mean, you know, future future episode, we've got to do the deadpool. August the fourth. Yes. I have one for August the 4th. Perfect. Yes.
SPEAKER_03So uh, well,
The Fountain Numbers Sound Fake
SPEAKER_03Pittsburgh sounds great. Um it's a cool town. Pittsburgh's Pittsburgh's neat beautiful downtown. So there's a fountain right on the point. And it's at Point State Park. Okay. They they advertise something that I'm here to tell you I think is 100% fake news. Okay. Do you know what fountain I'm talking about? No. Okay. How close is it to Hinesfield? If you turn around, you see it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I know what you're talking about then. Yes, I know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_03So the city comes to a point where the two rivers come together to join the Ohio or to form the Ohio River. The Monongahila and the Ohio. That's right. And the Allegheny. So the Allegheny and the Mahonga, whatever. Monongahila combine to form the Ohio. But at that point, it's a state park. Okay. Tiny, tiny state park. Got a huge fountain in it. Okay. That shoots water up, according to the online sources, 150 feet. According to my vision, probably 60, 70. How many gallons of water do you think it says comes out of that per minute? Per minute? Yes. And I want you to think of a just a I mean, just a ridiculous guess. Like if this was a pro if this was Chris paying for a construction project and the school system paying for the same construction project, I want you to give me that school system number.
SPEAKER_0423,000 gallons.
SPEAKER_02I'm trying to figure out what Trevy Fountain does. Or Fountain Square, even.
SPEAKER_03Look it up and see what it does.
SPEAKER_04I have no idea. I have no earthly way of knowing. I'm just that's a complete guess. I would have guessed much lower than that, like a thousand gallons. Per minute. Per minute. I would have said a thousand.
SPEAKER_03It's six thousand gallons a minute. Supposedly come up this fountain. I can't imagine that's the case. Is it regurgitating? No.
SPEAKER_04Um then it's a waste. It well get off my lawn.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03It's got a deep underground glacial flow 55 feet below ground. And like they hit it and it was it was an accident. And the fountain comes. I mean, it starts spewing out, and then they're like, okay, we'll just use that. So but they say it does 6,000 gallons a minute. So I call nonsense because Trevi Fountain is crazy.
SPEAKER_02Trevi Trevi Fountain in Italy is 1,743. The Bellaggio fountains are 140 gallons per minute.
SPEAKER_04Trevi Fountain, pretty cool. A lot of people.
SPEAKER_02Awesome.
SPEAKER_03I can't imagine that's the case.
SPEAKER_02That's nonsense.
SPEAKER_03I think so.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Alright, let's see what Fountain Square in Cincinnati is.
SPEAKER_03I think it's fake news. Yeah. Because that equates to 1.2 million gallons an hour. It's no chance that's the case. Um Janie got to go see the Mr. Rogers exhibit at the Heinz History Museum. She liked that. That's awesome. She loves Mr. Rogers.
SPEAKER_02That's 6,000. That's again the Bellagio. Come on.
SPEAKER_03Right. I mean, I think it's crazy. But uh, did you know Mr. Rogers' mom made his sweaters? I did know that. That's cool. I did know that.
SPEAKER_04So um I want to bring up something in our potpourri real quick.
Country Legends And Song Debates
SPEAKER_04You know, we've we spent some time talking about country music in here, and there's one country music artist that none of us have have brought up that I think Fair and Young. Well, I'm not gonna go back to my youth. Okay. I'm I'm gonna go back to my youth. Walking the floor over you know, look, and this is a this is a good one. And I I'm I'm shocked that we haven't brought him up before. Especially get past his first his huge hit. All of his other stuff is amazing. Charlie Daniels band. Fantastic. Why why did we why have we never really good, you know? I mean, think about Still in Saigon and uh Uneasy Rider is my favorite. I mean fantastic. Uh well the one song uh is that Uneasy Rider that brings up Pittsburgh Steeler fan. No, no, this was that's uh this was Did you ever think that we're ever getting back again? Yeah, the South. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So uh I mean so many good songs. The one is uh Uneasy Rider's one where he kicked old uh green teeth right in the knee. Yeah. That's the uh Pinko commie. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I I got on I got on a little Charlie Daniels band kicked this weekend and was just like, man, these are some good songs. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So there there was a similar to that, there was a Pirates baseball player whose walk-up song was Hank Williams Jr. Really? I love him. Yeah, it was awesome. Which song? Uh I want to know Hank, why do you drink? Why do you smoke? Um I mean, compared to all the other walk-up songs, it kind of it kind of was like, oh, that's different.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I like that because it's not just all the rap crap. I liked it even when the kids were in high school, and you know, some kid would be like, I don't care what my friends, you know, I'm gonna listen to what I want to listen to. They play something cool.
SPEAKER_04I you know, they're so The Devil Went Down to Georgia. You could almost make an argument if you listen to it lyrically and melodically, that it's the very first hip-hop song. I know that sounds crazy, but think about it. Uh we've had this conversation about this song because I said seriously. I think about sounds better. Think about melodically. I mean, I know it's not rap, but that you can't say that that didn't influence chicken in the hand I was picking that doe. You know. Seriously. I'm just saying to our listeners, listen to that song. And if and if you and if it you tell me I'm crazy, email the show. You're crazy. Uh, but uh you know one of my favorite ones by him you missed?
SPEAKER_02What? Sitting on a bar stool acting like a darnfield. That's what I'm doing today.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's a great song. How about Boogie Woogie Fiddle Country Blues? How about uh look, Still in Saigon is a fantastic song. I've been hooked on one of your guys like my younger brother called me a killer, and my daddy calls me a vet. Come on, man, that's great.
SPEAKER_02I've been hooked on one of your Ohio guys. Okay, who's that? Who is the only country outlaw country Ohio guy?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Hillsboro, Ohio, Greenfield McLean, Johnny Paycheck.
SPEAKER_02You got it. The old violin. Oh, that's fantastic. That song. And I don't think I've heard other people sing it. Yep. Nobody can sound or sound like him.
SPEAKER_04I I I my favorite uh I don't know, I can't pick just one of Johnny Paycheck, but in my top few favorite Johnny Paycheck songs would be uh uh Fifteen Beers. If you ever want to listen to a good one.
SPEAKER_02Fifteen beers. I don't think I know that one. Wow. I am impressed.
SPEAKER_03I've never been more jealous of a baby adult.
SPEAKER_02You know what? I gotta tell you something.
SPEAKER_03I um it's cold in here, yeah. Whatever. I'm hungry. It's cold in here.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, anyhow, so I've been on that old violin. If anybody, if anybody wanna wants to hear a good tearjerker song, that song is awesome. It's kind of like don't let the old man in, but in a different version. Basically, Johnny Paycheck's, you know, I'm just an old violin in the corner now. Nobody plays you, so put you out the pasture.
SPEAKER_03Good song. Well, I mean Mark knows that from years and years and years ago.
SPEAKER_04Well, we we don't need sad songs. We need songs like this.
SPEAKER_02I need about 350.
Reds Bet And Football Anticipation
SPEAKER_03Can we, while you're pulling up that song, can we talk about uh our bet?
SPEAKER_02The Reds have a 10-game homestand and they've won the last three series in a row. Just throwing that out there. Yeah, I'm not worried. Well, this this show And the trade deadline's what's coming up.
SPEAKER_03I heard they're gonna be buyers too. They're only 16 and a half game back.
SPEAKER_02You know who's getting ready to get gone. Most of them.
SPEAKER_04Hunter Green, potentially. Spencer Steer. Uh Spencer Steer got hurt, so he won't be traded now. You don't think? Well, this is not coming through now.
SPEAKER_03My Cubs are 59 and 46, as we currently see it. Your Reds, they're close. They're 49 and 55.
SPEAKER_04They beat the Cardinals. They won the last three series. Right. They swipe the Cardinals.
SPEAKER_03They still stink. Oh, they're awful. So I'm feeling pretty good about our bet again. Yeah, I don't even remember that we made that bet this year.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's no, no, Michael made that bet.
SPEAKER_04Remember? Triple or nothing. Um, it it's uh it's documented. Can we say now, by the way, that it is almost that time of the year? It is, and we have to have a college football preview episode coming from. It's right around the corner, my friends.
SPEAKER_02Right around the corner. Saturday morning walk outside early. Awesome. Amazing.
SPEAKER_03I was I'm so ready for college football season. Yeah, but you should have been in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Even colder? Yeah, cold sweatshirt. Oh. And I mean, all the Steelers stuff. Yeah. Because Steelers training camp starts this week.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, because Bingles training camp. That's right. I just saw that on television. Right.
SPEAKER_04And where does Steelers training camp take place? Cincinnati, unfortunately. Nope. Nope. Steelers training camp.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, sorry, sorry, sorry. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04It's at that uh uh I can't remember. Nice Latrobe. That's it. Latrobe. I couldn't remember the name of it. Yeah, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the home of like uh uh beer. What's that? Why why am I like because you're old. Well, Yingling is not in La Trobe. No, it's in La Trobe. It's like Little City. Maybe I don't know. Little Kings.
SPEAKER_03I mean, first of all, it's late for you.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_03And you're old.
SPEAKER_04Well, I tried to go to bed earlier, but we had podcasts late because I appreciate that. The next time that one of us is on time will be the first.
SPEAKER_02The next time we get together, it'll be exciting.
SPEAKER_04So it'll be different.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_04So uh are you gonna when we get together next time, are you gonna are you gonna talk differently? Are you gonna be like I hope so?
SPEAKER_02I hope so. Yeah. Probably a lot of sign language going on this time.
SPEAKER_03Uh all
Food Bracket Finale Brisket Wins
SPEAKER_03right. So before we close it out, don't we have to do the championship rounds of the food thing?
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, we do. Let's finish it. We're down to the final four.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's hit it.
SPEAKER_04All right. So we have uh we've got brisket versus chicken wings. And in the other bracket, we have I'm a brisket guy.
SPEAKER_03I gotta go with brisket over wings.
SPEAKER_02You know the thing? Brisket takes away.
SPEAKER_03Look, it's my brisket. It's not like mad brisket.
SPEAKER_02Here's my thing with brisket. It kind of goes against everything I always say. If it's something that has to be cooked right to eat it, I generally don't eat it. Yeah, that's true. But I do love venison if it's cooked right. What what one in the West? Uh fajitas.
SPEAKER_04Frog legs. No. No, it's it's uh what is it an in and out double double? It or a mission-style burrito? No.
SPEAKER_03Uh had to be the energy.
SPEAKER_04There's some stuff we didn't know what it was, remember? Had to be the energy. I think it was the in-and-out double double versus the Skyline Chili. Skyline kicked its teeth in. Another baby.
SPEAKER_03I'm going brisket over chicken wings.
SPEAKER_04Brisket over chicken wings, I would agree. I'd go chicken wings just because. Well, you lose. I'm a loser. Skyline chili over the thing. Skyline Chili, in and out, double double. In and out. This is where In N Out takes it. I'm sorry. Um Skyline Chili is just I love Skyline Chili.
SPEAKER_02I do too, but I think this, the, the in and out wins it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04In and out double double versus Texas brisket. I'll go brisket on this one. I'll go brisket on it. Then it's unanimous. It is a unanimous decision. I'm gonna tell you boys.
SPEAKER_03Good brisket is hard to beat.
SPEAKER_02Good brisket is hard to beat. Wait, if what about it? What if it's bad brisket? It's not good. Bad brisket's like eating cardboard. And it's tough and overcooked. Good brisket, you don't need anything besides your fingers to eat it. That's it. You've had a lot of.
SPEAKER_04And I've been begging for burn-ins too. There's only one and one thing that brisket is better than just plain. Sushi Q. Oh, that was good. Maybe like some roasted corn. Boom, shalock, lock, boom.
SPEAKER_03So when we go to Pennsylvania to watch the hockey game, we can go through Lima first. To be a little bit out of the way.
SPEAKER_02A little out of the way, but we can do it. Can we catch another high school football game or are those still off the table?
SPEAKER_03I don't know that you can go to a high school football game yet.
SPEAKER_04Not in the state of Ohio. He shouldn't have said anything.
SPEAKER_03I know he shouldn't have, but he did. Well, and you born again. You had Jeeves get a hold of him.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. I mean, this will affect your future generations. That's true. I mean, it's daddy's fault.
