Meeting Pim Pim And Teddy Winkle
SamOne day, two little kids named Elliot and Isaac were outside playing in the snow. Now, they had been making a snowman for a little while and it had been lots and lots of fun. But as they were continuing to work on it, all of a sudden, the snow just near them began to move.
IsaacUm, Elliot, w-what's going on?
ElliotUh, I-I don't know. Uh, i-it seems to be- it seems to be rumbling.
SamAll of a sudden, through the snow popped up a purple fuzzy hand. Then a teddy bear popped up as well. Then a purple fuzzy creature popped through.
Pim PimUm, Teddy Winkle, this does not look like China.
Discovering Sledding
Teddy WinkleNo! I told you that digging straight down wouldn't get us to China.
Pim PimWell, where are we? It's very cold here.
SamThe kids were sitting and watching as the two climbed out of a hole in the ground.
ElliotUm, excuse me,
Samsaid Elliot.
ElliotW-what are you doing?
Pim PimWell, we were trying to dig from Australia through to China, but that whole thing of like digging straight down, it did not get us there. It's got us here. W-where is here?
ElliotUm, you're in Canada,
Samsaid Elliot.
Teddy WinkleWhat? Canada? Well, that's fun. I've always wanted to go to Canada.
Pim PimYes, me too. It is very exciting.
IsaacUm, excuse me,
Samsaid Isaac.
Pim PimYes?
Samsaid Pim Pim.
IsaacWh-who are you?
Pim PimWhat? You do not know me? How do you not know me? I am super-duper amazing.
IsaacUm, o-okay.
Pim PimI am the Pim Pim!
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Teddy WinkleAnd I am Teddy Winkle.
Isaac and ElliotOkay,
Samsaid the boys.
Teddy WinkleUm, Pim Pim. Well, seeing we're in Canada, do you think we should have some fun?
Pim PimOh yes, that sounds like lots of fun. Uh, excuse me, what is something fun that we can do right now?
Samsaid Pim Pim to the boys.
ElliotUm, well, you could go sledding?
Pim PimSledding? That sounds like fun. Uh... what is it?
ElliotYou don't know what sledding is?
Samasked Elliot.
The Lawnmower Motor Idea
Pim PimNo, I have actually never seen snow.
IsaacWhat?
Samsaid Isaac.
IsaacYou-you've never seen snow?
Teddy WinkleNah, it doesn't really snow where we live.
Isaac and ElliotWow,
Samsaid the boys.
ElliotWell, sledding is when you get a sled.
Pim PimMm, yes?
ElliotAnd then you go down a hill on it.
Pim PimOkay, that sounds amazing. Now, what is a sled?
Isaac and ElliotOh dear,
Samsaid the boys.
IsaacMaybe we'll just go get ours and we'll show you.
Teddy WinkleHooray!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle. So the boys went inside and grabbed their sleds and brought them back outside. Pim Pim and Teddy Winkle looked at them carefully.
Pim PimWhere's the motor?
Samsaid Pim Pim.
ElliotThey don't have a motor,
Samsaid Elliot.
Pim PimWhy not?
Samsaid Pim Pim.
IsaacI don't know,
Samsaid Isaac.
IsaacThey just don't.
Teddy WinkleCould they have a motor?
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
ElliotUm, maybe.
Pim PimI think it definitely needs a motor. Okay, let's go get the motor for it.
Isaac and ElliotWhat?
Samsaid the boys.
IsaacWhere are we gonna get a motor?
Pim PimWell, do you have a lawnmower?
Isaac and ElliotYes,
Samsaid the boys.
Teddy WinklePerfect,
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinkleLet's go get it.
SamSo they all raced towards the garage and they found the lawnmower. And then Pim Pim started to pull it apart.
Pim PimOoh, if I take this bit here and this bit.
Teddy WinkleOh yeah, you need that bit too,
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Pim PimOh yes, and then we'll grab this bit, oh yes, and- oh, I need that chain just there. Okay, you boys hold this!
SamPim Pim started throwing bits and pieces of the mower towards the boys. They caught them all.
IsaacUm, that's gonna make the mower not work anymore,
Samsaid Isaac.
Pim PimThat's okay. Do you need to mow snow?
Isaac and ElliotN-no,
Samsaid the boys.
Pim PimOkay, well then you don't need the lawnmower.
Isaac and ElliotIt doesn't always snow!
Samsaid the boys.
Pim PimOh, uh, well, maybe we will have to fix it later. But for now, let's attach the motor to the sled!
Teddy WinkleHooray!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle. Isaac and Elliot helped carry the motor outside, and they put it on the back of one of the sleds.
Pim PimOkay, and now we'll get this bit, and we'll attach it to this, and then... oh yes, we can use that part there to be the flippy bit.
IsaacThe flippy bit?
Samsaid Isaac.
Pim PimYes, you need the flippy bit to flip the snow to make it go fast. Okay.
First Wild Ride
SamSo, in no time at all, Pim Pim, Teddy Winkle, and the boys had created a new type of sled with a very funny-looking motor. It looked rather... ridiculous as they stood back and admired their handiwork.
Pim PimOkay, it is time to go on an adventure. Okay, you boys go ask your mummy and daddy if you can come, and then we will go.
Isaac and ElliotO-okay,
Samsaid the boys. So, they quickly raced inside.
ElliotUm, mum,
Samsaid Elliot,
Elliotdo you mind if we go on a sled adventure with a teddy bear and a purple fuzzy creature?
MumOf course,
Samsaid their mum.
MumThat must be Pim Pim and Teddy Winkle.
ElliotHow do you know Pim Pim and Teddy Winkle?
MumOh, never mind,
Samsaid their mum.
MumOff you go!
SamSo the boys raced back outside.
IsaacThey said we can go!
Teddy WinkleHooray!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinkleAll aboard!
Pim PimHey, no, I'm the driver. I get to say the main things.
Teddy WinkleNo, you are not the driver. I am the driver.
Pim PimNo, I am the driver, because I thought of putting the motor mower on the back and then making it do the flippy thing.
Teddy WinkleNyaw, okay, you can start.
Pim PimHooray!
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Pim PimAll aboard!
The Big Snow Pile Jump
Samhe said. So, Isaac, Elliot, Teddy Winkle, and Pim Pim all climbed on the sled, with the very silly-looking motor on the back.
Pim PimOkay,
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Pim PimHold on!
SamAnd then he pulled the cord to start the mower. Br-br-br-br-br-br-br-br-br-brum!
Pim PimHere we go!
SamVroom! With that, the sled took off down the street.
Teddy WinkleWhaaaaaaaaa!
Samscreamed Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinklePim Pim! It's too fast!
Pim PimWhat's that? You want me to go faster? Okay!
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Teddy WinkleNo!
SamVrowhaaa! They zoomed so so quick. They started weaving in and out of houses.
Pim PimI wonder if I can get through people's front yards!
Teddy WinkleNo, Pim Pim, no!
SamPim Pim started driving the sled into people's front yards, doing laps around their gardens and then going back out again.
IsaacThis is amazing!
Samcalled out Isaac.
ElliotI love it!
Samsaid Elliot.
ElliotMaybe we should keep the motor on it for- for the whole of winter,
Samsaid Elliot.
IsaacDefinitely,
Samsaid Isaac.
Pim PimOf course!
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Pim PimOkay, watch this one. I think I can do a jump.
Teddy WinkleWhat?
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinkleNo jumps!
Pim PimYes, we need to do a jump. Okay, I think I can see one up there.
More Modifications Planned
SamPim Pim looked forward and there was a giant pile of snow that had all been pushed into one place by a snowplough.
Pim PimHold on!
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Teddy WinklePim Pim! No!
Samyelled Teddy Winkle.
Isaac and ElliotYay!
Samyelled the boys.
Pim PimWhippee!
Samsaid Pim Pim. Vroom! The sled took off into the air. They were sailing high above the houses.
Teddy WinklePim Pim! How are you gonna land this thing?
Pim PimUh-oh,
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Isaac and ElliotWhat do you mean, uh-oh?
Samsaid the boys.
Pim PimWell I didn't think about the landing, I just thought about the flying.
Isaac and ElliotWhat?
Samsaid the boys. Mrowaaaaaaaaaowwwwpfft! The sled, fortunately, landed in another giant pile of snow. And from the bottom they all started to climb back out. Spl-squ-squ-plft!
IsaacWhoa,
Samsaid Isaac. Plft!
ElliotYeah,
Samsaid Elliot.
ElliotThat was...
Pim PimThat was amazing!
Samsaid Pim Pim, as he burst up from the bottom of the snow.
Teddy WinkleYeah, I-I guess it was a lot of fun,
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinkleUm, I think we should give the boys a turn to drive.
Pim PimOkay,
Snowplough Wheels On The Sled
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Pim PimBut we cannot let them just do the boring driving.
Teddy WinkleWhat?
Pim PimYes, we need to make the driving for them a lot more fun.
ElliotHow will you make it more fun?
Samsaid Elliot.
IsaacYeah,
Samsaid Isaac.
IsaacWhat are you thinking?
Pim PimWell, I think the best kind of thinking is not thinking,
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Teddy WinkleWhat?
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Pim PimNever mind, I'm going to fix the sled.
Isaac and ElliotIt's- it's already working though,
Samsaid the boys.
Pim PimYes, it is working in the normal kind of working, but we can make it work even more amazing!
Teddy WinkleI think this is a bad idea.
Pim PimI think so too, and that's what makes it a good idea,
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Teddy WinkleI don't understand you sometimes.
Pim PimNever mind, we just need to do the more of the modifications.
SamWith that, Pim Pim started to look around to see what he could find to add to their sled. When he looked, he noticed that the snowplough that had made the giant mound of snow that they had flown off earlier was actually parked right next to where they had landed. It must have made the second pile for them to land in as well.
Pim PimI have an idea,
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Teddy WinkleThat's never a good thing!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
IsaacIt sounds like fun though,
Samsaid Isaac.
ElliotYeah,
Samsaid Elliot.
ElliotWhat is it?
Pim PimWell, I think that we should take some parts off the snowplough and we should add it to our sled.
Isaac and ElliotWhat?
Kids Take The Wheel
Samsaid the kids.
Pim PimYes, I see those giant big wheels, and I think maybe a sled with giant big wheels could also be fun.
IsaacWell, if it has wheels, it's not really a sled anymore,
Samsaid Isaac.
Pim PimWell, it is a sled if we put the sled bits on the bottom of the wheels.
IsaacWhat? How's that gonna work?
Samsaid Isaac.
Pim PimI don't know, but we should see!
Teddy WinkleOhh, a-a-a-a-a-alright,
Samsaid Teddy Winkle. They walked over to the snowplough and started looking at it.
ElliotUm, but if we take the wheels off the snowplough, the snowplough won't be able to work.
SamJust then, the man who owned the snowplough walked out.
Snowplough ownerDid you say you want my wheels?
Samhe said.
Pim PimUuum, maybe?
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Snowplough ownerWell, I was actually about to put some new wheels on this one, so you can have the ones that are on it.
Teddy WinkleReally?
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Snowplough ownerReally!
Samsaid the man.
Snowplough ownerHere you go.
SamHe helped them get the wheels off his snowplough and put them on the sled. Then they got the sled bits and put them on the bottom of the wheels. It looked quite ridiculous.
Pim PimOkay, boys, let's see what it does!
SamSo, they climbed up on top of their new sled that was now very, very high up in the air, and Isaac took control of the sled.
Pim PimOkay, Isaac, remember you are just learning, so the best thing to do is to go as fast as you possibly can.
Teddy WinkleWhat?
Plowing The Streets For Real
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinkleThat's not how it works.
Pim PimOh yes, that's how I always do it.
IsaacUm, okay,
Samsaid Isaac. So, he pulled the cord that made the mower engine start. Brum-bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-bum.
IsaacHere we go!
Samsaid Isaac.
Teddy WinkleNo, not yet!
SamVroom! With that, the sled took off down the street. It was very fun because they were now so high up in the air, because the wheels were big and they were stuck on top.
Pim PimThis is amazing!
Samsaid Pim Pim.
Pim PimAnd it wobbles now too.
Teddy WinkleNo, don't wobble it,
Samsaid Teddy Winkle. But it was too late. Pim Pim was already wobbling from side to side.
Pim PimWhoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
ElliotThis is fun,
Samsaid Elliot.
ElliotCan I have a turn of driving?
IsaacSure,
Samsaid Isaac. Elliot and Isaac swapped positions, and Elliot took control of the new sled. He had an idea.
Home Again And Goodbyes
ElliotI wonder if it can go over bigger things now coz it's so high up in the air.
Pim PimYou should definitely try.
Teddy WinkleYou should definitely not try. Actually, this is lots of fun. Yeah, try it!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
Teddy WinkleLet's go!
SamElliot started to drive over big lumps and bumps. The snow was no match for their new sled high up in the air on the wheels of a snowplough.
Snowplough ownerHey, kids, come back here!
Samyelled the snowplough man.
Snowplough ownerWhy don't you chuck this on the front as well?
SamHe brought out a funny-looking snowplough, and he attached it to the front of the kids' sled.
Teddy WinkleAlright, here we go!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle.
ElliotI've got this!
Samsaid Elliot. And they started flying down the street. They were actually helping. They were clearing all the snow off the roads, three times as fast as the normal snowplough could do.
Snowplough ownerThis is amazing!
Samyelled the snowplough man.
Isaac and ElliotThis is so much fun!
Samyelled out Elliot and Isaac.
Pim PimI am having the best time ever!
Samsaid Pim Pim, as he continued to wobble the sled from side to side. It meant that the snow on the road ended up with a slight bumpy pattern, which was actually pretty funny to watch cars try and drive over.
Pim PimOkay, I think we have done enough of the snow ploughing now. Let's go back to your house.
SamAs the kids, Teddy Winkle and Pim Pim flew back into the driveway, Elliot was very careful to make sure that he cleared all the snow out of their driveway so it was nice and clear for his parents. As they climbed off the sled and went towards the door, Teddy Winkle and Pim Pim also climbed off.
Teddy WinkleAlright, Pim Pim, we better go back down this hole and head back to Australia.
Pim PimDo you think if we go halfway and then dig sideways, we might end up in China?
Teddy WinkleI dunno. Let's try! See ya!
Samsaid Teddy Winkle, as Pim Pim and Teddy Winkle dove back down the hole. The kids went back to their front door, and when they opened it, their parents looked outside.
MumWow, kids, how did you get the driveway so clean? I-it looks amazing!
IsaacWell,
Samsaid Isaac,
IsaacI don't think you'd believe us, even if we told you.
SamAnd that is the end of the story.
