In this special Diwali episode,  Vandana, Rita and Monica share their thoughts, opinions and experiences as immigrant Indian Americans with a special emphasis on celebrating Diwali. They recall how they celebrated Diwali before coming here and compare it with how they do it now, and each of them comes up with her own unique conclusion about her Indian American experience. They also answer questions about their immigrant experience vs that of those Indian Americans who grew up here, and ponder what values they grew up with.

Monica came to Denver in 1993 for graduate studies. She now works as a product manager in the field of technology and life sciences, is a mom of two boys, and takes care of her parents who live close to her. When she has some free time, she loves gardening and hanging out with her two cats.

Rita came here in ’92 for graduate studies as well as to join her mom and brother who moved here earlier.  A mom of two adult kids, Rita has been working in product development for a long time, and unwinds by reading, gardening, taking long walks and occasionally dancing with friends!

Vandana came to the US in ’93, just a few weeks after she got married.  A mom of two grown-up kids as well, she works at a business office that supports 9 medical practices.  In her free time Vandana loves to play tennis and watch all the tennis she possibly can, and always rooting for Nadal if he’s involved!  She also loves to go for long walks, hang out with her dog Millie and meet new people.
