Oscar Wilde said “Children begin by loving their parents; as they grow older they judge them; sometimes they forgive them.“

Even under the most ideal circumstances, parenting is at best a flawed act of trying to balance teaching our kids what we know, or what we think they should know,  with making them independent and well-adjusted.

Even with the best of intentions, every parent finds it difficult to be a good parent. And that task is made so much more complex when we try to find the elusive balance between acting as stewards of our cultural heritage while exposing the kids to the influences that make them well-adjusted citizens of their local environment.

The responses of my guests, their reflections and comments, reiterate that there is no right or wrong answer to the challenges of parenting,  especially for an ethnic community here in the US.  And even with its imperfections, parenting done with love, care and honesty, is a job done well!
