00:05:58.079 But as we break it down together, I think it will help us understand how we do this. 00:05:58.319 --> 00:06:01.519 Colossians 3, I'm going to read to you verses 12 through 17. 00:06:01.680 --> 00:06:17.040 It says, Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 00:06:17.839 --> 00:06:20.480 Bear with each other and forgive one another. 00:06:20.639 --> 00:06:26.560 If any of you has a grievance against someone, forgive as the Lord forgave you. 00:06:27.040 --> 00:06:33.519 And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:41.279 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you --> 00:07:24.240 And that sounds like a weird thing to say, but it's literally right there in the scripture. 00:07:24.399 --> 00:07:33.759 Therefore, as God's chosen people, there's this crazy theological truth that sometimes might be hard to really think is true. 00:07:34.000 --> 00:07:58.480 But when you put your faith in Jesus, when you choose Jesus, what's really happened is that he first chose you by the power of the Holy Spirit drawing you to him, even your choice to turn, the Bible word there is repent, to turn to Jesus and say, I believe in you, forgive me of my sins and enter into my heart and I surrender my life to you. 00:07:58.560 --> 00:08:02.639 That whole thing that happens is really an act of God in your life. 00:08:02.879 --> 00:08:11.839 So you'll see verses like this in Scripture where it says that we are actually chosen, that He chose us, He adopted us, He picked us. 00:08:12.399 --> 00:08:18.560 So just thinking about that for a moment inspires me child, and that means He has a purpose for me. 00:08:25.920 --> 00:08:34.799 The second thing I'll pull from there is that because of that, it lists all these things I must clothe myself with in that 00:08:56.960 Because we've been picked, because God chose us, because he adopted us into his family, we're going to develop this compassion and this love for the same things he has compassion and love them went there too, agitating the crowds and stirring them up. 00:22:45.519 --> 00:22:50.079 The believers immediately sent Paul to the coast, but Silas and Timothy stayed at Berea. 00:22:50.480 --> 00:22:55.440 So, in other words, they had to send him away because there was persecution coming upon them. 00:22:55.680 --> 00:23:04.000 It says those who escorted Paul brought him to Athens and then left with instructions for Silas and Timothy to join him as soon as possible. 00:23:04.319 --> 00:23:16.559 So his mission, entourage, took him to Athens, left him in Athens, go back to Silas and the Areopagus at a place called Mars Hill and proclaiming the gospel. 00:25:22.960 --> 00:25:28.960 I mean, once he started talking about the resurrection of Jesus, they all thought he was crazy and
