Honoring Women Who Lead: Celebrating Integrity in Our Communities

BBB Serving Central Oklahoma

From empowering young girls to celebrating seasoned leaders, this episode shines a spotlight on the Women of Integrity and Young Women of Integrity Awards. We delve into the mission behind these prestigious recognitions—celebrating women who inspire, lead, and uplift their communities in countless ways. As we discuss the origin of these awards and their vital importance, we introduce the newly launched category for young women aged 12-22, who are making impactful changes and serving as role models for future generations.

Listeners will gain insights on how to smoothly navigate the nomination process for both awards, the values that drive our initiatives, and the significance of community recognition. Additionally, we emphasize the handcrafted nature of the award pieces, produced by local artisans, and how they symbolize the integrity and hard work of the recipients. This is more than an award; it’s about creating a lasting legacy and motivation for all women to strive for excellence.

As we gear up for the celebration at Revere and Revel on October 23rd, we invite listeners to participate in recognizing outstanding women within their own circles. Join us in uplifting voices that often go unheard and spotlight those who are transforming lives—one act of integrity at a time. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with your community—subscribe, share this episode, and let’s celebrate together!

Speaker 1:

Hi everybody, and welcome back to the Build With BBB podcast. Today on the podcast, we're going to be talking about our annual Women of Integrity Awards and yes, I said awards, because this year, we have opened nominations for a brand new award, our Young Women of Integrity Award, aimed at honoring young women ages 12 to 22,. So middle school, high school and college-aged women and young women ages 12 to 22,. So middle school, high school and college age women and young women who are doing great things in their community. Today on the podcast, what I really wanted to do, though, is talk about our two separate awards, how you can go about nominating somebody, and all the information that you need to know, so I think the best place to start is pretty easy. We want to start with. When did these awards start? Why does BBB do these annual awards, and how can I nominate either a young woman or a woman for the Woman of Integrity Award or Young Woman of Integrity Award In 2021,?

Speaker 1:

Our team here at BBB, serving Central Oklahoma, came up with the idea of starting a women-focused conference, and out of that idea, revere and Revel was born, and so you've probably seen us do promotions for it each year. This year, we're hosting Revere and Revel on October 23rd at the First Americans Museum. We're really excited. We've got a great lineup of speakers. We have an awesome committee that's working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure that it is an event worth celebrating. Our theme for this year is failure, and we like to think of failure as it's a stepping stone. It's a learning event. It's things that are going to help us learn how to be better, how to serve our communities better, how to serve our people better, how to serve our families better. So, because of that, we have an awesome lineup of women leaders, women business owners who are ready to share their story on October 23rd. So make sure, if you haven't, I'll include information below about purchasing tickets, tables, all the fun things so that you can bring your team and get ready to celebrate women and their allies in our community. Also, at that event, we are honoring Women of Integrity and our first ever Young Women of Integrity Award, and we're so excited about this.

Speaker 1:

When we decided to launch Revere and Revel, we knew that there was a need to bring back or create an award in our community to celebrate women who were doing things just better, who were operating with integrity inside and outside of the office, who are finding ways to uplift their community, who are basing all of their decisions on what we like to call our core values here at BBB accountability, adaptability, integrity, authenticity, collaboration things that we think deserve a spotlight. And so out of that came our Woman of Integrity Award. And this past year we saw a gap. We wanted to find a way to celebrate the young women in our community, the rising stars, if you will young business owners, potential business owners, community leaders, young women who are doing great things to make change in their community and make a positive and lasting impact, and so out of that came our Young Woman of Integrity Award.

Speaker 1:

The great thing about these awards is that the nomination process is pretty simple. For the Woman of Integrity Award, maybe you nominate a friend, a mentor, a coworker, a colleague, your boss, whatever that looks like a church leader and it should take no longer than 15, 20 minutes for you to write out that nomination, and then all of our nominations are going to a voting committee made up of accredited business owners, community leaders who believe in the mission of BBB and believe in integrity and authenticity, and we're so excited about that, and same goes for our Young Women of Integrity Award. These things are also based off of our core values here locally at BBB Serving Central Oklahoma, and the difference between these two awards is the Young Woman of Integrity Award really focuses on lasting impact and community-driven focus for young women, so women who are doing things to really impact their community. You can find information about the two nomination forms down in our show notes below, so make sure to take a few minutes out of your day and nominate the amazing women and young women in your life. I also wanted to give a special minutes out of your day and nominate the amazing women and young women in your life.

Speaker 1:

I also wanted to give a special shout out. Each year, these awards are handmade here in Oklahoma City by Art Fusion Studio, the Bewleys, and they do a wonderful job, and so what we really want to do in everything that we do is support local businesses and shine a light on the great work that they're doing, and so it's a piece of lasting artwork that you can display in your home and your business to show that, yes, I am a woman of integrity, I'm a young woman of integrity and I'm making a difference, because so often it feels that we are going through our every day right. We're chomping away at our to-do lists, we're doing the different things that we know matter, but they often go unnoticed. And it isn't until you hit kind of those big milestones, those big successes, that somebody says, wow, you've been so fortunate, you've kind of done this overnight. But they didn't see the behind the scenes of you working really hard for those things, or the people in your life who are working really hard for those things. So make sure to submit your nominations today. Life who are working really hard for those things, so make sure to submit your nominations today.
