Dr. Frank Batcha is an Idaho physician working with the WAMII program and came on to talk about an out of state political group from Virginia, the Do No Harm group, that is in Idaho advocating for a law that is completely redundant in nature and will do nothing to affect medical and educational outcomes in the state. This group, as well as many others, came to Idaho to show “capacity,” meaning it has to show its funders that it can change laws in states and therefore is worthy of additional funding. Idaho is a “low rent” state, meaning it does not cost that much to pass or change laws here when compared to a state like Florida or Texas. Idaho is currently LAST in the state with physicians per capita, and this group has come here to advocate for superfluous, redundant laws that add additional layers to our medical education, grow government, and make the group more money. Enjoy!
