We hope you expand your heart and mind. And. Create the shift with us. So unplugged from the matrix and let's dive into this. And we're back. This is the Magical Midlife Crisis podcast. I'm Court. And I'm Meg. And this is episode two of season two, The Greater Awakening. Yes. You, you were the one Meg, who thought of like that kind of, you know, subtitle for season two. Where did it come from? Well, I feel like we are all at different layers of our life. And I feel like me and you, our layers are pretty much aligned. Of all things that we, I think are just go through in life. And I feel like our first season, you know, I had had a spiritual awakening, really understanding, um, spirituality, energy, all stuff that kind of aligns with that, and then I think. Myself and you court discovering Jesus and our relationship with God. I feel like that is like the next level of awakening and I feel it's the greatest awakening. Yeah. And it's been quite a journey that we've had this summer. And so, yeah, it's amazing how much can happen in a few short months, which is kind of what I was excited about with us. Ending season one without like exact knowing of that timing, getting to the point where it was summer, like we said, and, and I'm like, I'm really excited for when we come back. I know. I just knew like that big things were on the other side and I had a, an inkling of what it would be as far as like business growth with you and me and our mentorship and our leadership. I didn't realize what was necessary for us to hit that level of Leadership. I didn't realize what what was needed. It really was for us to Come into a deeper understanding of our faith and our connection to the greater Picture in life and it's to grow closer to our creator and but even more his son, which I really never Connected with Jesus before I was raised like Catholic kindergarten through through high school totally Catholic schools Doing the whole church mass during, during school hours. Um, I mean, it was a lot of understanding, like the stations of the cross and the 10 commandments and obviously, um, I mean, I learned a lot about Jesus dying for us. And as a kid, you only understand so much, but man, did I not, I didn't really continue on my like. Faith belief stuff throughout my early adulthood. And then as I shared in the first season, I mean, when my brother died, I definitely had this connection to spirituality and God. And then I, it was, it's definitely a layer of effects. Like so many seeds that were planted in both of us that kind of cultivated Not just these last, you know, few months, definitely the few years and then something grew like something like broke through the soil and just opened up and, and I told my, my boyfriend's son that he was a big part of it because and not even anything he said, but just like how he is. And I feel like when we. So this is court. Um, I would judge a lot of people that were quote unquote bible thumpers and jesus freaks and People that would come up to me and you know talk about jesus in any way I'm, just like oh god, here we go, and i'd roll my eyes, but when my stepson talked about it I didn't want to show him any of that ugliness in me so I was more open to hearing about it and You And then it was just kind of layer after layer and then just this, I don't, I don't know, definitely within our company, just a lot of people so confident and free and at peace in their connection and just the beauty and having more peace. Like that's been a real, it's been a real intention for me with a lot of stuff that I'm doing in life is to create more peace in my life. And so then at that retreat that I had in Arizona, the leadership retreat with our company and just how beautifully raw and real, so many people talked about their, their relationship with God and with Jesus. And I think that opened up another layer in me. And then I reached out to a few ladies that I used to work with. In different dental offices. No, in the same office that I see. They're very driven in faith and one of them recommended this book to us, me, and then I brought it to the team, The Purpose Driven Life, and it, the first couple of chapters were like major ego trips. Like, I was like, this is This is dumb. I don't like this but at the same time I just know enough about growing that i'm gonna i'm gonna see what's on the other side of it like our open minded um I don't know practices Have really taught me to just Like let go see what's on the other side. So then yeah, we all started reading it and uh, yeah, i'm just I in the middle i'm like I I don't know. I just really never thought that I would be a jesus believer and and then I remembered a night where joe and I were talking and we were playing our our little conversation deck and I there I really had this moment where I just You I don't know how Jesus came up, but I just started crying and I was like, you know what? Jesus really mattered. and I think it was like a holy spirit moment because It made me feel like we all matter just the same and obviously i'm learning but from what i'm understanding God gave his son to save us Because we matter and so just like brought this really cool connection that I never felt before You And then like talking about it with you, it just, all of our conversations just helped me navigate the confusion and oddness and, and curiosity because it's a new world. It's a whole new world. It truly is. A much more beautiful world. I think. Yeah. Yeah. Cause it's like a level of, we always talk about consciousness and it is a level of consciousness. Yeah. That, People are in a different wavelength and all in their own unique way, right? Oh, everyone's everyone's connection or coming to it or understanding of it is different and unique as it's supposed to be Yeah, and everybody's relationship with God and Jesus is very different. Yeah, you know So it's it's and it's cool because I think that yes, that's so perfect what you're saying because I always thought it had to all be the same. Like we all had to just bow down and, and you know, whatever, just be a servant. But that never, that never made sense to me. And now like we're following Jesus, it's like, Oh, we're building a relationship. We're like having a unique relationship. Like God's our dad and Jesus is his son. So our brother, I don't even know if that's well, yeah, I forgot what Day it was in the book, but rick warren who wrote the book the purpose driven life. Oh, this is meg, by the way Um, but he talks about god made like everybody wants to know what their gifts are and god made us all different for a specific reason And some of our gifts might be the same as other people But we are all here with a gift and like we are meant to be different Yeah, like he doesn't want everybody to be the same and it's It's beautiful, because how boring would that be? Well, and if everybody's journey and story was the same, like, why would you? What's the point? Right. And then, and then with that too, it's like, why, why do we grow up wanting to be like anyone else? Why do we have that, that vision of, wanting to be someone that we're not and like to conform to these trends or these things that are popular or these people that are popular or To be liked and to be loved and to be adored and it's like where does that come from? There was a great interview with jim carrey on like the red carpet or for whatever thing and he The interviewer thought he was being so weird But she's like, Oh, we're here to, um, celebrate idols. And he was saying like idols, what idols? Because he is so Jesus faith based and like, he understands. We don't idolize anyone, right, but God, but God, yeah. Like it was just, I remember seeing that interview a long time ago, but now seeing it now in a whole different light. And I'm like, totally get what he's saying now. Why are we idolizing people for having a great. Act in a movie or performing on a stage like Well, and I remember on one of our team calls I said, you know, so and so is my, you know, business idol. And then I remember one of our teammates calling me out like, you should not idolize anyone. And that stuck with me. And I didn't get it because I wasn't at this point yet. And now I totally get it. Yeah. Yeah. I never thought of that. I think it's cool to be empowered by people, but when we idolize, it's when we almost become like addicted to trying to become them. And like, that's not. That's not what we're supposed to do. And I think that's where the comparison factor comes in. And then, um, I mean, I'm very guilty of it. Idolizing, um, like achievement or even income, like money, other things that really have nothing to do with the greater parts of living and existing and connecting. We have been in a slow progression of Living in this thing that's called the matrix of trying to pull us so far away from the source and who we truly are as spiritual beings and just trying to strip us away from knowing who we truly are to looking externally at all these All this Hollywood and all this music and all this stuff to thinking that's who we're supposed to be. I mean, that's fine if that's your passion and what you love to do, but it's stripping us away from being ourselves because we feel like we are not good enough if we are not that. Like, and I'm totally guilty of it. I mean, everybody knows I'm a freaking Britney fan, you know what I mean? And the ways that I idolized her were extremely unhealthy. And I know like thousands of other girls too, you know? Yes. So now I just focus on like, Wow, like I'm empowered by her strength and you know, that's what I try to focus on and just how humble she is And it's you can turn your idol into more of an empowerment and what are their Attributes about the personality that you find empowering and how can you utilize that in your life to make yourself grow and be better? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I wonder if it's almost like uh, Showing us like what's possible like in these people that we Used to Think that we are idolizing But truly what we just like adored about them and it's like maybe that's a quality that we have that we just don't even Believe that we're capable of holding. Yeah, so i'll share my little jesus awakening story, so When I was little I remember we would go to church. I vaguely remember it but Um, I think I was around four when my mom got sick with crohn's disease. So she had um a blockage in her intestines You She got very, very sick. And then basically my dad had like rushed her to the hospital and, um, she had peritonitis kick in. So that means like when your food is riding in your body and everything just starts to kind of shut down. So she was hours away of being dead. Like the surgeon was like, if you told my dad, like if you would have brought her an emulator, she like, wouldn't be here. So that like obviously stopped us going to church. My mom was like sick. She had like a hole in her stomach. My mom's like, I vaguely remember any of this, but I just remember like snippets, like of going in there and I was taking care of her. I would take care of her bandage. She had like a huge hole in her stomach. They couldn't close it up. My mom said I was like her little nurse. So I'd go in there and clean it. But I remember asking my dad, like, cause that became my, my normal. And I was like, can we go to church? And obviously my dad didn't want to go to church. And so I think I was like looking for any normalcy that I had in my childhood and that was going to church for some reason I I think I just like dressing up. I don't know. I don't really remember being there, but I remember like, you know You have snippets of memories or whatever and um, I remember it like we just stopped going and I was baptized Episcopalian, um, but from there on out I never really understood religion To be honest, I actually really always felt uncomfortable in churches because I didn't know any of the prayers First Um, I remember me and my sister, we would kind of almost like we felt so uncomfortable. We would like look at each other and giggle like even as adults, like we felt so uncomfortable. And I think that's kind of what I let, I kind of let that become my identity thinking that like, I don't know how to explain it, but I think I just never truly understood who Jesus was. I knew that he died on the cross. I knew that he died for our sins. But I didn't really understand, like, the true depths of the story, and I kind of thought it was a story. I was like, how do they have real proof of that happening thousands and thousands of years ago? And the more you tell yourself that, the more you believe it. And then, um, I think I just kind of never thought about it after then. I've always, like, Knew that there was god, um, obviously i've grown grown closer to to the relationship of the source creator and then Yeah and I, like, through my whole spiritual journey, like, I'm really becoming more closer to God and understanding spirituality, and, um, and then you were talking about The Chosen, and then, I don't ever have access to the TV in our bedroom. Joel owns the TV, and it's always golf or sports or sometimes the news, and, That's when I put my headphones on, but, um, they were out of town for like two weeks, they were out of town for Arizona and they came home for a day and then they went back and I was like, this is my time to binge watch. And I put on the chosen and you finished it before I did. Yeah. I, when I tell you I binge watch, I was binging hard. Okay. Um, I'm somebody that learns and understands things through visual. So, and obviously the more I'm reading, the better I'm getting at reading. Reading and having a visual along with that but watching the chosen I think literally that that series changed my life. Yeah, me too It was like watching the bible played out having seen actually the characters and the rawness of it Like it just really touched my heart and it really made me see the big picture. Yeah, because it's like When you think of the history like way back when it's really hard to connect to that, but then seeing it And these, these, these actors are true believers, so like, they're putting, like, their true feeling and belief and, and love within it. And seeing them just as everyday people, just obviously in a historical setting, it just made me relate so much more. Mm hmm. It just I could see myself there and and and they talk about conflicts and they like remember the one episode that you're like you're reminding me of you and me oh yeah and it's like yeah like we real life shit yes real life stuff and it's like oh and you think like they had these issues back then yeah i i'm just so Ignorant to history, like, I have a hard time to comprehend and understand history, because to me we live in such a tech filled world and such a different world that I, I can't fathom what it was like back then. For sure. But like watching it, like, role play out, like, it was incredible. Yeah. And so, yeah, I'm, first of all, I cannot wait for season five. But, and I actually watched the passion of the Christ probably last year. That I have not seen. Right. And so I probably should have watched the chosen first and then that I just wanted to know what it was about. And then, um, but now I'm excited to watch it together with a whole new set of eyes. But yeah, and it's funny, I always feel like I'm trailing right behind you in life and I feel this way with Daniella. No, with like things that we're doing in life. Like Daniella is always like here and I'm always like, Oh, I'm right behind you. And I feel like the same with you. Like. You know, and I think that's beautiful because we're all aligning and it's like, I'm just. Following your path, but in my own direction. Yeah. That doesn't make sense, but it does. Well, and there, when we went, cause then, um, as we were like new Jesus believers and, and then Joel like suggested that we go to the life surge event. Yeah. I had no clue. Oh, I didn't know what it was about either. Yeah. So we were in Hoffman. Well, we're in like the Huntley Algonquin area in Illinois. Those of you that know, Illinois. But there was this huge event at the Hoffman now arena. And Joel was like, Hey, there's this big event. I know you like add my let, maybe you should get some tickets to it. And I didn't even look into it. I just looked at the date and I texted you and I'm like, Hey, are you free this day? There's an event, a whole bunch of awesome, motivational speakers, a couple that we've seen in our, um, work conference and yeah, we went, yeah. Mind blown. Yes. And I mean, I was. I was, I totally proclaimed that I'm a full on believer. Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I was saying these things that I've heard people say and I'm like, this is crazy, but I felt it. And then I remember me telling you that I wanted to get baptized and you're like, I'm not ready for that. And that was in the beginning. That was in the beginning before. Yeah. I think we were having that discussion before the event started or was it after you're like, I remember it was at the arena when you brought that up. Yes. I can't remember exactly, but I, I'm like, and I was proud of you though. Cause it's like, I was proud of you for like, you know, feeling your truth at that moment and just like, you're like, yeah, I might, I might get there. I might not. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, good, good. Yeah. Yeah. So this event was crazy. It was all different motivational speakers. And I had no idea that there was going to be music. And so I obviously was never a Christian follower before music. I think all I listened to is binaural beats and Britney Spears. Um, but yeah, the Bethel music group was playing. And I think like that was in the beginning. And I think that is what like sucked me in. I felt the music. So hard. And just looking around and just seeing everybody, like I S I can, I can feel that moment right now, like it was powerful, very powerful and just so loving. So real. Yeah, it was great. It was so awesome. I think the thing that really touched me too, was just how open and honest all the speakers were. And. Um, really talking strongly about how they're trying to erase Jesus and take Christ out of our life. Yeah, these speakers are being cancelled from a lot of different media. And, and Maggie and I have been following a lot of that cancel culture because, I mean, from all that we talked about in season one, Um, we believe that the basics to health is the basics of living. A cleaner, more natural, connected life, like connected to each other, connected to nature. And all these big industries, big food, big ag, big tech, big pharma, they are trying to obliterate that whole idea. And so we are very aware of the cancel culture on that line on that level. And also then hearing all these stories of these other leaders in, in. All kinds of ways, you know, yes, they all have something in common that they follow Christ, but They're all entrepreneurial and they've all like extended their gifts into the world and they've all been held up really high on different levels, depending on business or economy or real estate or anything. And then they've been totally wiped out and totally defamed. And it's just like, wow, this is happening on all levels. And now that we see this, It's just, we are so much more empowered to be the voice for true purpose, which is really to come back to, come back to God. I, I think that really made me a believer, knowing that they're trying to cancel Jesus, then he, he's freaking real. Yeah. If he's that powerful, then why is the world trying to erase him? Like, I think that like, really hit me. Yeah. Yeah, then what, what happened after that? So we went to the life search event. Oh, and then you gave us all the purpose driven life and reading that book, that was when I realized I'm going to get baptized. I think it was once I got the book. Yeah. And. Cause that's when I said to, when I read it. Yeah, and then, and then we were, we were really, Why, where, why did we go to that park? And we, like, walked around? Oh, we had, um, our Zumba event, and then, We had our Zumba event, and then we had, um, Amy's business launch. Okay. So yeah in the middle. Yeah, we just walked we just went yeah, we were in like buffalo grove And we were doing we're doing the 75 hard at that point. Yeah, because we had to get our walk in Yes, so we had our outdoor our outdoor movement and we're sitting reading our book because you got to read 10 pages on your 75 hard Challenge, I think I talked about that in the last episode. We were both doing that and We just started talking about like asking random people like hey, do you know jesus? Hey, do you are you? You Yeah, I think we just said, do you know Jesus? Yeah, I was like, hey, uh, excuse me, I have a question for ya. Do you know Jesus Christ? Yeah, you know that guy Jesus? And then, was it one or two people that were like, yeah, definitely. And then the one guy was like, yeah. And then he stopped and talked with us here for quite a while the dude with the Bernadudo. Yeah. So yeah, it's been it's been a really Pivotal awakening another layer to it before we close out is All the self development we do and how scripture is always quoted and And that was something that it kind of just clicked for me that We like we're always seeking and searching to develop ourselves And then there's all this scripture And it's like why do I resist the bible? Why do I resist? Looking at this historical book, that is literally people being so deeply connected to our creator and writing, writing and documenting it for us, for the rest of the, of people to read. Why? Why was I so resistant to that? And I really think it's because I just Was so caught up in I'm gonna have a really cool conversation with one of my faith buddies next week, but ego and I don't know if if the enemy the devil works through our ego because ego is just like This part of us that's always trying to keep us safe. But then does does it get manipulated by the devil? I'm, not really sure to be honest, obviously i'm like on a path of discovery and understanding all this but That's a good question. Yeah, it's ego like a low frequency and that's where the devil lives like I don't know I don't know, but I did ask my friend. Yeah, cuz she's been a leadership Worship leader for a while So she's been studying this stuff for a long time and she was such a help to me I reached out to her in the beginning and she was just so Like loving and open and it's like that's all we need is support, you know All we need the people that did not get the support they needed for essentials Growing up to no fault of anyone's because obviously those parents or guardians didn't get the support either. But Meg, you and I have declared it. We are here to end those generational traumas. Those generational beliefs that limit us from who we're really made to be. Which is just infinite divine beauty. So we're going to leave off on a little verbiage from Rick Warren in The Purpose Driven Life. And I just opened up a page and I'm going to read what Courtney had highlighted. Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God. The Bible offers three metaphors to teach us God's view of life. Life is a test, life is a trust, and life is a temporary assignment. That's so good. So good. Working my way to that afterlife. Yeah, we gotta be the best I read in that book too, and I just loved it We gotta build our characters here so we can take our best self to the afterlife Yeah, and i'm gonna touch on that because this is what I thought was and this is like the same thing basically But he says that when we are in our mother's womb that our mother's womb is preparing us for the life here And our life here is supposed to prepare us for the life in the afterlife. Yeah, it's like How we perform here dictates whether we get into the afterlife or not. So I try to remember that daily and just really take that with me everywhere I go. Yeah, because we've been taught to be our best when someone's watching and it's like we're always being watched in an unfortunate creepy way by the government but then also by our father. Yeah. In heaven. Yeah. Yeah, it's what you do when nobody's watching is what's important. Yes. True character. Thanks for tuning in to the Magical Midlife Crisis podcast. Court and Meg tuning out.
