It's episode three on the magical midlife crisis, the greatest awakening. This is Meg here. And we also have Court. Hey, everyone. Welcome back. Welcome back. So I'm sure a lot of you have heard, and probably some haven't of the 75 hard challenge. I was brought knowledge about it from you, Court. So how about you touch base on what it is and why you decided to join the challenge? Uh, okay. So the 75 hard challenge. It's uh, a friend of mine did it a few years ago, and I was kind of amazed because it, I thought it was more of a physical challenge, but turns out it's what they call a mental toughness challenge to build consistency and discipline in your life. Um, and the checklist, I'm reading it in front of me because I'm on day 73. It's a 45 minute workout, a 45 minute outdoor workout. So that's two 45 minute workouts in one day. A progress picture, 10 pages of reading of self development, drink one gallon of water, follow a diet you get to pick, and no cheat meals or alcohol. So yeah, a friend of mine did it. on her, along her health and fitness journey. And then, um, it was one of my patients that I was seeing that, uh, I can't remember the exact. Um, conversation, but I think it was something along the lines of like, reading, and how I really wanted to get into a habit of reading. And this young guy, in college, he's like, I don't know, I don't remember how old, but he was telling me that he did the 75 hard challenge and I and he goes, Do you know what that is? I'm like, Yes, I do. He's like, yeah, that really got me into a great reading routine. And I'm like, I'm sure you got into a good routine with a lot of other things doing that challenge. I'm like, that's crazy. I've actually thought about doing it. And he's like, well, don't, don't, like, just start, just do it. Like, don't stop thinking about it and just do it. So then I'm like, oh, man, he put that in my head. So yeah, I talked to Meg about it. I talked to my boyfriend Joe about it, kind of hoping one of them would do it with me. And Joe was like, no way. He's a very disciplined person. So, but it was a summer and he just didn't want to have those kinds of limitations. And then Meg, were you interested right away or did it take you a minute? I was interested in it, but I didn't really know the details. Yeah. And then I listened to the podcast episode on it. Yeah. He talks about it. And I think that really, and I kind of just want to do everything that you do. So. Yeah, Andy, Andy Frisella is the guy that created the 75 hard movement and yeah, I really, I wanted to get really disciplined because I was deciding to end my career and retire from working as a dental hygienist and run our holistic wellness business full time. And so I knew, cause I actually tried to do that before, but I didn't have any consistency or discipline. So it just wasn't, it just, yeah, I, I need structure in my life, which I'm a go with the flow kind of person, never thought that I would actually need structure. But, yeah, doing this challenge has really created awesome structure, discipline, and consistency that I am going to continue after. 75 days, but the first three weeks were pretty easy and then it got really hard because then there was like a bunch of events that I had and so then I had to really plan on waking up earlier, leaving an event earlier than I wanted to like do these commitments. you know, check everything off the list and keep my word to myself. And it just really helped me get really intentional of where I was putting my time. And I know I've talked about that with the business that we do. It just helps you get more intentional. And this was just next level intention. It was so helpful and really prioritizing. And then the physical component, like people think that this is like a fitness thing. It's not, it's really more like. It is a mind game when it comes to moving your body. It is always a mind game. So, and then our, our supplements are pre and post workout and our, our electrolytes were such a game changer. I don't think I could, I don't think I could do it in the beginning without those helping my body recover. Same. And then with your. I won't. Yeah. Then you had your, yeah, so on day three of 75 hard, I was at Orange Theory doing a workout and I felt my hamstring snap. Like I've never felt anything like that in my body before. It was like a rubber band snapping, and I was like, I told, um, forgot his name, the trainer. I'm like, I think I pulled my hamstring. And he goes, no, you probably didn't. And then I went to the chiropractor and he's like, yeah, you pulled it. He's like, you just got to recover and you've either like slowly recover or get surgery. Like those are the only two options and surgery is not an option for me. And I probably should have stopped, but I kept going. And I, so that was day three. And I actually stopped my 75 part on day 68 because my body was telling me to stop. And yeah, but I gained so much mental discipline. Um, I, I have finished books. Um, my addiction to reading has increased. Um, my work ethic at the bar has increased. It set discipline in so many different areas in my life for time management. So I don't like to look at it as a fail as a failure. I like to take in everything that I've gained out of it. And I kept pushing myself, like when I would go on my 45 minute outdoor walks, that was probably not the smartest thing for me to do and let my body heal. And that was me fighting. I didn't like, you know, it's like a mind game. I'm like, is it my mind? I'm like, you know, my body is like, telling me I need to relax. And there were moments where you were really like, realizing your, um, your limitations with your fibromyalgia kind of popping up and really having to be intentional about your nutrition, your sleep, your water intake on another level that I, like I saw, but I saw like it creep in, but then you were so good about managing it. Yeah. So people, everybody has difference. Um, symptoms, symptoms. Yes. So for me, my body just gets tired very easily. My body can only handle so much stress, so much working out to the point where sometimes I just feel like. I'm just like a heavy sandbag. My body gets tired. And then, and then of course it affects my mind game and, and all that. So, um, I'm definitely excited to do it again and do the full 75 and work on not injuring myself the next time. Cause I had another injury too, and I forgot what it was. Yeah, I don't know if I did something to my I don't remember but yeah, yeah, it was another yeah I can't remember either but honestly working out isn't really a challenge for me eating healthy really isn't a challenge for me Drinking alcohol is not a challenge for me Reading and not watching tv was a challenge for me and that is something that I really got a lot of Benefits out of and like now i'm just like addicted to reading. What did I read? I read The Secret by Rhonda Burns, I read The Magic by Rhonda Burns, and I'm reading The Power by Rhonda Burns. Great series of books. But yeah, a really good book though, if you ever want to do the 75 hard, a good book to read up, like, during it or before it would be Atomic Habits. I think because it's just helps you learn and how to create new habits how to break old habits and And really kind of what a habit is and I feel like and there's a 75 hard groups on facebook And I did see a lot of people were reading that book during their 75 hard So it's ever a challenge that you're thinking about doing and you don't know where to start or what book to read I think that is definitely a good start. What books have you been reading during your 75 hard? I read So I read The Purpose Driven Life. Um, oh my goodness. Oh, see you at the top by Zig Ziglar. Did you finish that one? Yeah. Yeah, good, huh? Really good. The end of it got a little like political for my taste, but then there's a couple points that I wasn't crazy, but all in all, because if you read it, you know exactly the points that I'm talking about. But all in all, it was Phenomenal for understanding self image better and like where it all comes from and how to move through it and then um The other book shoot. Oh, um how to make friends and influence people i'm reading that right now Yeah, I didn't. Oh, yeah, you did. Yeah. Yeah, I finished it. Um, and now i'm reading Heal self heal by dr. Barbara o'neill And then I also just started Good Energy by Dr. Casey Means. Yeah, I gotta get that. Uh huh. Yeah. Yeah, she's a really awesome whistleblower for those that like to hear the whistle blow. What's going on in the world? Yeah. Blow the whistle. Yeah. Love that song? No. Blow the whistle. Burp, burp! Oh. Okay. It's one of my jams that I get down to. Yeah, I'm also reading The Power of Now right now, which I think we talked about in the first episode. So, what I love about this book right now, it's the power of literally living in the present moment. It's So mind blowing, the power of living in the now. Okay, so with that, with what you're learning, because I did read The Power of Now, but that was very early. I was like a year into building the business, learning about the entire opportunity, how to show up for people, how to do it all. And so it was, I was very overwhelmed. And a friend of mine who's going to be on the podcast soon because she wrote an amazing book and she asked me to write it. Chapter in it. So she she recommended that book to me and I really wasn't reading I was listening to books, but I wasn't reading them So that was like one of the first ones that I actually started turning pages blew my mind Blew my mind right open. Yeah Yeah, I think I like I feel like every book that i'm reading now Is aligning and I keep every day I pick up a different book or sometimes i'll read You A chapter in this book or pages in this book and I feel like every page I open up to Is answering and aligning to all the questions and the challenges and relationships that i'm having in my current situation and it's like Wow, it's like I feel like like self development books So you just open up any page and it's going to help you with whatever it is. You're going through at that time Yeah, at least it's what it's doing for me and it's so crazy. Yes I, when I read, I like, feel so much, I, well I put so much pressure on myself to like, really remember all this so that I can like, share it with other people. You do really good then. You do really good at like, focusing. I just, I guess, I don't know, someone said maybe that's the educator in me. That I just, like, I'm so, just, I don't know the words. You absorb and retain information like nothing I've ever seen before. Thank you. It's hard to receive that because I know plenty of people who are much better at it than I am, but. We're not talking about them, I'm talking about you and the way that you retain and absorb information. I'm like, and I'm working my way towards that because. I've always created that pattern. I'm not this I'm not that I can't retain And so obviously knowing the power of my words and i'm like, okay, i'm working on retaining i'm working on it But I think for some people it's more of a natural gift And I think for you, it's more natural and I have to do the actual, like, I have to focus to I look like I'm constipated reading these pages. Like, Oh, okay. I didn't make that noise, but yeah, it's, uh, I, I just love knowledge. And now that I've learned that knowledge is not power. It's knowledge with action is power. I just know that you and I working together and like. Being the voice for the voiceless out there is It's what we're meant to do. Mm hmm. Yeah, and many people know too like you might not feel you have a voice now But you can get there and you can work your way up to use your voice I felt invisible and voiceless for so long and I felt like nothing I had to say mattered or I didn't have Education behind it or I didn't have this behind it. And Now I'm like, when you really open your eyes and your heart and your mind to everything that is out there in the world, we can absorb so much powerful information. It's incredible. You just have to listen to the right people and look in the right places. Yeah. And I think it's just who you follow and who you listen to. Yeah. Haven't you though? Like you said. Yeah. I can't wait for that event. Yeah. That's like next month. Yeah. It's literally in one month. Yeah, we're going to a Kevin Trudeau, um, what's it called? Family reunion, isn't it? Yeah, is it Mastermind? Yeah. Workshop. Something like that. Yeah, it's gonna be awesome. The Palmer House in Chicago. We're so stoked. I can't wait. Let's not tell anyone our room number. Oh, honey, not with our farts. Nobody's coming and knocking in our rooms. Okay, so after that event, I bet there's going to be some shifts in us. So, what we've been working on is really stepping into our next level of greatness. And, our mentor has an amazing podcast, Level Up with Debbie Neal. She just released an awesome episode. Where leveling up is, essential with God and not to tell anyone how to think or what to believe or anything like that. But again, like what Meg said, the fact that. The, the creator is being cancelled says so much about what we really should be questioning like what's happening in the world. And where do we really want to put our attention and where, what do we really have control over? Because I believe we are made to think we have zero control and we have so much control and power. With ourselves, within our homes, right now, right now, it might change as far as what we, the amount of it, but no matter what, we still have control over our thoughts, and that's, and our beliefs, and that's just, it is so powerful. Everything starts with a thought, and everything starts with a belief. And to think that we were lost for so long, and I'm just so grateful, so grateful. I can't believe, like, I, I feel the way I do now about our faith. It's so strange, but beautiful. And I can't believe we're talking like we are about our faith, especially with everything we talked about in the first season. It's just, like, so cool that we've documented. This journey, you know what I mean? Yeah, we have, like a audio diary. Yeah. I can't wait to compare how many F bombs I had in the first season, to compare to this one. Cause I'm trying not to drop any F bombs, so. Well, you haven't really, like in day to day talk, No, I say, I say freaking. I'm a freaking frickin. I say flippin. Yeah. Ethin. Yeah. You know? I still say it sometimes, you know, depending, but for the most part, yeah, our, our words matter. What we're saying, what we're listening to, who we're listening to. Yeah. You said believer earlier and it made me think of, cause we were talking about them earlier. Yeah. I got the beaver fever. Uh huh. Yeah. Yeah. I'm Justin. You're a believer. I'm a believer in Justin Bieber. So obviously we know there's a lot of controversy going on surrounding that, but we're not going to focus on that. I want to focus on Justin Bieber and. I had no clue that he found his faith in Jesus and I've been really watching his journey and his interviews and, you can definitely tell that they didn't want to really make it a big production because, we don't hear a lot of artists speaking about Jesus and their faith. And it's really made an impact in my life and, can't compare my life to his and fathom the things that he's been through and the darkness he's seen and Um, I mean you can hear it in his music. I mean all of his music is a diary of his life pretty much He really listened to the lyrics what these artists are singing. It's their It's their diary, you know, and you can hear you can hear the pain and it's absolutely beautiful to listen to his faith music and hear him sing about jesus and god and um, I truly believe if that human being can restore his soul and find light in this world that Anybody can yeah and having the whole world talk about you and sharing things about you under this whole circumstance That should give anybody faith That shows, that kid right there shows how powerful Jesus can be and can save you. Yeah, if you haven't seen any of his interviews, they are so powerful. He is so real about, and he hasn't like really exposed everything that he's been through. I mean these people that make it to Hollywood, and even the ones that don't, but the ones that do, all of them, They really have to go through a lot of disgusting tests in the world to get to the place that they are. Not all of them conform, and that's another, that's another episode of just the conformity of what we, how we all conform in our own ways, but man, this guy that was a kid that grew up, In the in the spotlight and oh man, I was such a fan of him when he first came out And like pretty much silently his whole career But then like he he he got lost and I kind of turned him off like I didn't really pay much attention But yeah, since we've been deepening our faith Obviously he's popping up because he's a follower of christ and he sings about christ. He talks about christ I'm, just so impressed. I'm, so impressed with his vulnerability Vulnerability His authenticity and his ability to like, sound so in touch with what's truly going on in the world and how he can be a light within it. Yeah. Yeah. When you see people, especially, I mean, we have to sometimes resort to public figures because a lot of other people's stories don't get blasted all over the world, like these celebrities, but just knowing that somebody can go through that and find faith and light. I hope, and I know that he's bringing other people hope. Oh, yeah. And I feel he's gonna make a huge shift and change in this generation. The younger generation big time. Yeah. Yeah. And that's something too that I've started noticing about pop stars and celebrities and um, I really am, you know, and I talked about this a lot in the last episode, I'm really paying attention more to who I'm actually listening to. And I think we're all becoming aware how many artists are propaganda. Yes. Some people say they sell their souls. I'm one of those people. Um, and they give up all their own personal rights and beliefs to sell and tell whatever they're, what they're told to. And if you're not talking about Jesus Christ, God, and well, I don't even think God at this point matters because. I think some people serve a different God, you know, so I just if you're not publicly speaking on that behalf. I think that says a lot, especially what's going on in the world today. If you can't speak upon Jesus, then I really want nothing to do with your artistry. i'm allowed to do that, you know, it doesn't mean I don't have fun with other music sure No, I mean, I just choose not to listen to it when i'm driving in my car Whatever, but like i've said before if i'm out, I might drop a little booty twerk. Yeah, it's a couple songs You know, you might you might visit but you're not gonna live there. Yeah, you know, i'm just more conscious of what i'm listening to and what is being programmed in my subconscious because Music is energy, And it, oh man, it's one of the easiest ways to feel something different, to feel a different energy. Yeah. Like, you put on a song, it reminds you of something, or it gives you a, like it's, it's, it is designed to make us feel. So, if there's music that is designed to make us feel, Like low vibe, negative. I don't know like what are some of the feelings that a lot of the rap and stuff. Well the rap music industry it's very satanic. I mean the subliminal messaging in the music it's very apparent. I'm just at a place where I think I a little bit deep state of knowledge. And so it's not like I like I'm not judging other people like, Hey, yeah, this song doesn't. Right. Suit me doesn't mean like it's not going to not make you feel good because at the end of the day It is what makes you feel good. You know what I mean? But I think this is the problem. I think when you start to Unveil so much. Yeah in the world that you like. I just view everything very differently And so to some people I seem crazy to some people I seem oh my god I totally get what you're saying. So and it's just part of the journey of just Opening the eyes to yeah, what's out there? That's right, you know, yeah Yeah, so who are your favorite artists to listen to me? Yeah um well The beaver the beabs the beavenator Um, obviously britney spears. I mean, yeah, who the hell knows if her fucking music satanic. Oh, I just dropped an fm Who knows if her music is whatever but her music makes me feel good. Yeah, you know what I mean? Um, i've been addicted at buffalo music rope I like, country music. I like Jason Aldean. Harry Underwood's a really big. Yeah. You take that. He's a lover. That wheel. I know you take that wheel. Yeah. I love it. I love her. Some artists that I, I've really loved Lauren Daigle. Like I started listening to her when I was married because my ex husband was really into,, Christian life, which I wasn't then, but he would put on K Love, the, Christian music channel. And she was always the one that stuck out to me. Like, I didn't care for anyone else. It was always her. And I just, I got her, I found her on Spotify. I followed her. I just thought she was awesome. And I still do. So it's cool that, like, I actually believe in what she's saying now, not that I didn't before, but I kind of felt like an imposter because I didn't believe the way that she did. And again, everyone's belief is totally unique, but yeah, it's um, it's, it's cool to listen to, to like, what do they call it? Worship music, fellowship music. Yeah. It's great. My old self is laughing at me. So when I first at the surge event, First heard Buffalo music group the way that that touched me. I remember going on my walk I won my 45 minute outdoor walks and playing their music and The song no longer slave came up. It's like, um, I'm a child of God I'm no longer a slave to fear and they kept repeating that and I was like everything like I remember I told you When I was like really alone listening to this music, I was bawling I was like releasing so many emotions. It was like, I was almost hyperventilating. I had to like hide by a pond at one point, like by a tree. I'm like, you know, like, yeah, it was like, incredible though. I just felt like something come over me and I'm like, Oh my God, I'm releasing so much. Yeah. I think that's what they call the Holy spirit within you. Like, just like you're connected finally. And yeah, I felt, I felt it. many times and it's it's just really Surreal. Yeah, we're a little have To have this view and to be talking about it but it feels really cool Also. So cool. Man, us, we are like little Jesus freaks. We are little Jesus freaks just running around the suburbs, just Jesus freaking it up. And we're going to the Bethel Music Group. Yes. In the what theater? Genesis Theater in Wakanda. That is going to be super awesome. Yeah. We have any, if we have any magical midlife crisis friends, I want to join. It'd be cool to have a worship, a little prayer together. Um, Courtney's got to get her workout in. I got to drag my hamstring to the car. All right. On that note, we're gonna call it a night. So,. There are three barriers that block our total surrender to God, fear, pride, and confusion. We don't realize how much God loves us. We want to control our own lives and we misunderstand the meaning of surrender. So let go and let God. Let go and let God. Beep beep honk honkity honk honk honk.
