Peter and John go to the temple to pray and come across a man lame from birth.  He asks for handouts which they do not have but what they do have they proclaim over him, the name of Jesus. And with that, they direct him to get up and walk. And he does! The authorities are threatened by this power and bring the disciples in to be questioned in an unfair trial, just as they did to Jesus. The disciples explain that Jesus is the source of the power to heal and the cornerstone they rejected. A cornerstone is the chief stone that lays the foundation from which all others follow. Jesus is certainly that for us - our rock, our firm foundation and the one who sets all others on their rightful course.

Music between the scripture and sermon "Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us" (Voices United Hymnal #198). Words: Janie Alford, 1979. Music: Thomas John Williams, 1890. Words copyright 1979 Hope Publishing Company. Podcast/Streamed with Permission under One License Number: A-607425 & CCLI 2453477
