hey there, patrons, this is a special episode. Just for you, make sure to stay till the end, because I've included an exclusive lauren leo n reiki meditation for grounding, because it's the holiday season, and hoop-dee-doo and dickery, we're going to make sure the day doesn't suck. Otherwise, just exactly at 12 o'clock I'll be drinking all the whiskey. Now You're welcome, guys, voyagers. I'm here to have a quick chat about the holidays.
Lauren:This time of year can be tough for many reasons. I know that for me, the first few years after my brother Ian died, nothing felt quite right. I was incredibly lonely, even in a room full of my family. That first year, especially when the holidays rolled around, I was profoundly sad and honestly jealous of anyone experiencing a joyful time devoid of deep, gut-wrenching grief. I wanted to pull my grief from my body just for a day, put it in a jar and have it sit on a bookshelf while I sipped on a holiday cocktail and thought about nothing but how much my stupid shoes were hurting my feet. Unfortunately, that's just not reality. Sometimes your grief or sadness or depression or loneliness is your plus one, your unfortunate stowaway. But I'm here on the other side of grief and sadness to say it does get better. Be gentle with yourself and if you are missing someone or spending this holiday alone, just know that you are never truly alone. If nothing else, call on your spirit team for extra support. That's literally what they're there for. Or call on us, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man I mean Lauren and Frank. Seriously, we are just an email away and we always reply to our listeners. We are a community.
Lauren:For those who are dreading obligatory family time, here are some tips and tricks to keep your energy clear and light and cheery and bright. Sorry, I can't help myself. Christmas lyrics are blasting through my brain right now. So listen, things are bizarro out there right now and you might be feeling some heaviness. Zorro, out there right now and you might be feeling some heaviness. Maybe there's some discomfort around the political climate. Maybe there's literal discomfort because of the climate. That's a climate change joke. Whatever the case may be, the holidays can be stressful, so here are some ways you can de-stressify. De-stressificate those are both words. These are tips for before, during and after the day.
Lauren:Okay, before your holiday gets truly underway and before you have to face certain family members who trigger you, make sure to have some quiet time. This is essential. Self-care it's mandatory. Collect yourself, even if that just means five minutes alone in your bedroom or in your car or in the fetal position in your Aunt Wendy's bathtub. Breathe, practice gratitude, find five things you are truly and deeply grateful for. If you are a very empathic person, I see you. And here's where we set the ground rules.
Lauren:Say out loud or in your mind several times I will not carry or take on anyone else's emotions, anyone else's emotions. I am in control of my personal power. Quick reminder hydrate. Maybe this one is only for me, but just remember to drink water. People get a little heavy-handed with the salt, am I right? And another thing you don't have to respond.
Lauren:Sometimes the best response to someone's assholery is silence. Let them sit with their obnoxious comment, let it repeat over and over in the silence of the room and in the silence of their empty brain. Sorry, that was a little mean, that was a Frank style joke. If there is any point of the day where you feel like your energy is totally depleted and you are finding yourself fake laughing at Uncle Larry's jokes, go outside for a minute. Or if you live somewhere snowy and cold, apologies. My Southern California privilege is showing. Find a quiet space. A bathroom again is fine. Imagine an energetic bubble around yourself protecting you. Put one hand over your heart and one over your solar plexus and say out loud or in your mind I call my energy back to me. I release anything that does not belong to me. Wait until you actually feel your own energy centering inside your body and then resume party time. That pumpkin pie is not going to eat itself. After the festivities are over, ground yourself, take a hot shower, put your feet in a bowl of warm salt water or walk outside barefoot if you live in like Hawaii or something. Congratulations, good for you. Just make sure to release anything that does not belong to you and now to really ground yourself before bed.
Lauren:I hope you enjoy this Reiki meditation for the root chakra. You can listen to it in the morning or during the day or anytime. Have it on a loop forever. Go nuts. Make sure to find a quiet spot. If you're driving, do this later. Spot If you're driving, do this later. If you're able to sit down or lay down, that's even better. Close your eyes and allow yourself to receive and set your intention for grounding and keep in your mind the mantra of I am grounded, I am safe. Imagine yourself in a large meadow. You are barefoot walking through the soft grass. It's a warm, sunny day and you can hear the birds chirping and the wind blowing through the trees in the distance.
Lauren:You feel safe and comfortable. As you walk through the meadow, you come upon a large, beautiful flowerbed. In the middle of the flowerbed there's an open space with a pile of soft soil. You feel so safe here. You step inside and stand on top of the soil, letting your feet sink in. The soil is warm, heated by the sun, and the air around you is cool. As you stand in this space, you feel the energy of the earth pulsing up through your feet. You are grounded, you are grounded, you are safe. Allow yourself to feel the power of the earth within you, centering your body as you breathe into the energy of the earth. Repeat to yourself, repeat to yourself I am grounded, I am safe, I am grounded, I am safe, I am grounded, I am safe, and let yourself feel this energy, breathe into the energy of the earth.
Speaker 2:Thank you for watching no-transcript you are grounded you are safe.
Lauren:We love you. You are grounded. You are safe, we love you.
