Have you ever felt completely disconnected from your spiritual practice? Life transitions can leave us adrift, overwhelmed, and questioning if we’ll ever find our way back. In this episode, Lauren opens up about her recent struggles after a big move—the overwhelm, the guilt, and the way even simple practices felt impossible when her nervous system was running on overdrive.

We unpack the difference between motivation and momentum, challenging the myth that you need to “feel ready” before you begin. As Frank shares, small, consistent actions—like a ten-minute Reiki session, a mindful coffee ritual, or a quick gratitude practice—can create the momentum that slowly rebuilds connection. The conversation also explores the inner conflict that arises when different parts of ourselves pull in opposite directions, with Lauren’s astrological insights highlighting how that tension plays out during times of transition.

We also pull a tarot card for the collective. If you’ve been feeling disconnected from your practice, this episode offers gentle wisdom, compassion, and a reminder that resilience begins with momentum, not perfection.

Episode Introduction

Lauren

Hello you beautiful angels plucked from the heavens and brought down to earth to act like weird little humans.

Frank

Just a standard sentence.

Lauren

In today's episode, frank and I are talking about coming back to yourself and finding your way back to your spiritual practice and more. I'm Lauren, leon and oh, I'm on fire. We are a married couple learning how to develop our own intuition, and this is episode 83 of Claire Voyaging. Wayfeather Media presents Claire Voyaging.

Frank

California, not live. Does anybody actually know what time it is?

Lauren

Do you know what time it?

Frank

is, what time is it?

Lauren

What time is it where you are? Give me a saga.

Frank

Someone needs to tell us what time it is, because we keep slipping on episodes.

Lauren

That's okay, you know, that's why we're having the talk that we're having today. I guess Lauren has a talk for us. No, I just have some loose, some real loose thoughts. They're just tinkin around in my head, tinkin, tinkin sure I'll use it. Spill them tinkering well, first of all, I hope everyone's doing well. Frank, you got any like fun little tidbits for us today.

Frank

Fun little tidbits.

Lauren

What do you got?

Frank's Reiki Journey

Frank

You know, just doing the the work, doing more Reiki, work, learning more about Reiki, and it's actually super interesting. I know I learned a lot out of like from you when you were doing your classes, but actually like settling into it now it's a, it's a very cool yeah. And you know, one of the things that's really interesting about it is that I'm kind of learning how, even if you don't, even if you haven't been trained in Reiki necessarily, that like everyone kind of naturally on occasion is doing Reiki, everyone has access to Reiki energy. You know it's not like a special thing I mean it is but like it's considered like a life force. So when you have like a positive intention, or you just put your hands on I don't know your friend because they're feeling sad that day, or you put your hands on your kid, or whatever it might be like, that's a little bit of Reiki.

Lauren

Yeah, it's so much of spiritual or like healing work, or I mean prayer is intention.

Frank

Yeah.

Lauren

And like it's so funny with Reiki when you do these like the placements or whatever, or when you want to activate Reiki, it's all just setting an intention and saying Reiki. It's all just setting an intention and saying this is now the placement for Reiki level two or whatever. Yeah, and also, I mean I used to we've talked about this before I used to put my hand on your head or on your stomach or something just kind of intuitively like. But years ago I'd be like I don't know, I feel like I got something in my hands. I don't know why, I didn't even know what Reiki was, but yeah, there's something really interesting to that.

Frank

Yeah, and I was just telling Lauren like how it's really funny that a lot of the study for Reiki is like it's like everyone has access to this and everyone can do it, and everyone does it all the time on accident, and. But also here's the like. So much of the study is like here's the history of Reiki and here's how to do it properly, but also there's no right way to do it and and like here are, you know, these like symbols that help you, but also like you won't need them. You use them but you're not going to need them eventually. So it is like a very intuitive system that you then learn how to really like. It's almost like the the deeper, the more respect you have for it, the more available it is to you, because you kind of understanding more, more what you're working with.

Lauren

I think it's also having those tools in your toolkit to go. This is for, for whatever reason, whether you know, it's like when someone does a practice and they're like I light this candle and then I do this thing and that helps me get into the moment or activate things or whatever, but like with a symbol, it's like I do this symbol and I do it this way and it's like your own kind of style.

Frank

Right.

Lauren

You don't have to, you could just say the words. Right If you don't know what we're talking about. There are symbols that come with each Reiki level that help activate a particular again intention. Yeah, but you don't know them until you're attuned to them, so they keep them a secret.

Frank

Well, they try to. The truth is, we live in the day and age of the worldwide web and you can go look them up. They're all over the place. But unless you really know how to use it or when to use it, then it doesn't really matter. But it is very, very, very cool. It's very.

Lauren

Yeah, I'm having a great time with it I'm enjoying hearing the the tidbits that you, that you've been learning yeah, the information that's like even just slightly different from what I learned.

Frank

Every teacher is different and it's really cool every teacher is different and I have an issue with like not wanting to. Well, I don't have an issue. It's like built into my personality, type of investigating. I like to do a bunch of research into things and I have multiple sources from which I am learning reiki right now. So, like, I've got a book. I did an online course. I have some of like uh, the recordings from when lauren did her course, so I'm learning like the little nuances and me and Lauren of course, as your other teacher.

Frank

Yeah, as Sensei Lauren.

Lauren

Your main sensei yeah.

Frank

And the strange power dynamics over here, man.

Lauren

I would never, I'll never call myself. I mean, I'm a Reiki master, but I say sensei'm a Reiki master, but I say sensei in a very big joking.

Frank

It's funny, it's funny.

Lauren

It's silly.

Frank

In the context of Reiki. I call Lauren, sensei, mostly like as a joke, but you know, you gotta know when to you gotta know when to cut it off If Lauren's like hey, I need you to go like walk the dog right now. Yes, sensei, it can get. It can get sarcastic real fast. But yeah, like like having gathering all this information from different places and seeing like look at little discrepancies between how this person like uses the symbols or how this person sources the energy or what they say, and I'm like, okay, there's a lot of leniency here. And then again with with the association that you learned from with William Rand, william Rand is like one of the top dogs in Reiki, right?

Lauren

now he created the ICRT International Reiki Center for Training Right.

Frank

Yeah, and one of our past guests, Jules that's where she like is what is her title? Reiki?

Lauren

Master, teacher.

Frank

Okay, yeah, what is her title? Reiki?

Lauren

Master Teacher Okay, she's like one of less than 50 students who actually did the teacher training. Yeah.

Frank

So she did thousands of hours. Yeah, it's crazy. But yeah, the modern take on, or the newest take on Reiki through William Rand, is that like, okay, you learn all the stuff from your teachers and then, once you get to a certain level, the teacher I'm sorry, the student and teacher relationship should kind of be dissolved and you're supposed to get out of the way. As a teacher, don't gatekeep. And if you've been listening to the show up to this point, you know that that's the key to the show up to this point.

Frank

You know that that's that's the key to my heart no gatekeeping yeah like no, no, uh, student master thing, where someone's always, always has like some kind of power over you, right, sensei? That's it okay, so it's very I I like that a lot. So in general, like uh, from what I've learned so far, uh, reiki is a very sovereign energy healing practice yeah, I would. I would agree with that and I like that you like your sovereignty I do leave me alone everybody so frank.

Lauren

When are you gonna open up up your your calendar for biz?

Frank

When am I going to go to go to market?

Lauren's Emotional Struggle

Lauren

Yeah, when are you taking this to the public?

Frank

I don't know I need to do a little more practice like hands-on practice literally and I need to work out the schedule on our website, but yeah, I'll be here.

Lauren

Isn't this kind of fun website? But yeah, I'll be here. Isn't this kind of fun? You're hearing in real time, like the, the progress of frank's, frank's learning. It went from mine, which is how we started this podcast, to yours, which was so unexpected for this to be like your path. But it just makes sense. Um, I don't know. I think that's fun.

Frank

I think it's fun.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

I'm learning how to do it.

Lauren

I'm into it. Thank you for this, this tidbit today.

Frank

Yeah, and I know what you want to talk about today and I want to say that well, Lauren, how are you feeling spiritually?

Lauren

Okay, I wanted to kind of just in case this is something that is relevant to anybody, or if it resonates I wanted to kind of talk about how it feels when, like your, your mental state is overwhelmed and you're not necessarily following your own spiritual practice that you have kind of set up for yourself, and how you can kind of get back to it, or at least what I have started doing to find my way back to myself. So I think, with this move, I was like I'm okay, I'm fine. And then with because I'm, you know, I'm working, we had the kids home through the summer and there wasn't a lot of time. There wasn't a lot of time, but there also wasn't a lot of time to think about like, do that kind of what do you call it? Interoception, where you assess how you're feeling, and the moments where I would have a little bit more silence or kind of the, the space when, when our kids went back to school, I was like, oh, mom's not okay, there was like this feeling of like overwhelm I don't know if it's dread or like a little bit of depression. There's just like my, my nervous system was on just high, high drive. Yeah, is that a word? High drive, high drive.

Lauren

My nervous system was really operating like at a really high level and I was like I think I'm having cortisol, high cortisol issues, and I think I'm just not feeling great about a lot of things and speaking not very kindly to myself, like just a lot of all the things that we've kind of learned how to do, I've just it went away, especially with like being in a new space. It went away especially with being in a new space, not having my feet under me. There was like, oh God, how do I even remember how to get myself to get outside the house and run an errand, let alone go on a walk or do a, a meditation, or even like pull a tarot card If I'm, you know, feeling like I need a little bit of inspiration or divine, divine guidance. So, after like many tears, yeah, we finally a few moments of a some some meltdowns.

Frank

So much of the move was like oh, you know, we need to, we want to do this, make sure that the kids are going to be okay and they're settled, so that we're not, like, you know, pushing our thing onto them and they have, they've done, they've done really well. Yeah, uh, everyone's got friends, it's perfect, but you know dropping the kids dropping the kids off at school on the first day and looking at Lauren and being like, oh fantastic, hey, oh, oh, oh, oh Lauren.

Frank

She's crying why are you on the couch crying? Why are you weeping right now? And you know, like because so much, especially when you're making big changes in your life. And I'm sorry if we're like beating a dead horse here talking about like the move and all the changes and all that too much, but sorry, it's a big deal for us, but the if you listen to our podcast, you know that, like, this is our, this is our journey yeah and part of it is learning intuitive development.

Lauren

Part of it is like how much does your mental health affect how you can properly develop your intuition? If you've like shut it down because you're too sad or overwhelmed or whatever, then well, it's can't do it it's.

Frank

It's like being in survival mode for too long, which we did to ourselves. Some people are in survival mode and they didn't do it to themselves. Totally. Yeah, something shocked them and and you know, I'm trying to learn now because I, now that I'm, now that I'm learning reiki and learning from all these people who know and spend so much time, live in this space of like, of, of uh, maintaining your own energy while like being available to others, right, especially with with, like, kids and stuff or anybody that relies on you. If you find yourself trying to smooth things over and changes over for other people, you might find yourself at a deep deficit energetically.

Lauren

Yes, and that's how I was finding myself.

Frank

And it's survival versus thrival Thrival. Thrival, thrival thrival, survival, survival. And like you think everyone wants to assume that like, oh, once this happens, I know it's coming, I know this change is coming. Or like this change has occurred and I know I'm strong enough to get through it, and then you rely on your own, you think you're going to have the energy reserves, you think you're going to have the motivation to get through these things, and like, then what ends up happening is that's when the like mental, that voice in your head is like oh wait, you're not doing as good as you thought.

Frank

You're going to be doing a little piece of shit.

Lauren

You should have been you. You should be fine by now. You should be in a good like routine.

Frank

Yeah.

Integrating Different Parts of Yourself

Lauren

Yeah yeah, yeah, you're acting like an asshole, or hey, loser you've got a whole podcast about like being able to do stuff and like yeah, and like why you're having such a hard time, yeah, and well, and that's where, like, the guilt comes in, because then there was, like, this whole, not only being like unkind to myself and like you're you're not, you're not doing what you're supposed to, you know but also the guilt of like you have a whole podcast about this. You, you've been working towards this, you've been working on stuff. Why aren't you meditating? You know it's going to help, but you become your own doom scroll.

Frank

Yeah, you're just going through all these different horrible things to say to yourself and like yeah and just like and hoping that tomorrow will be better or later will be better and that maybe you'll have a little bit of motivation, or like, yeah, and and the truth is, you can't do shit when you're completely drained of energy yeah you dropped off the kids. You said, all right, all right, you got this guys and you came home and you were a mess.

Lauren

Yeah, day one my plan was like I had set up a thing I'm going to drop the kids off, frank gets the kids ready Breakfast, packs their lunch, mom drops them off. And then I was like I'm going to go do my beach walk, dropped off our son after dropping off our daughter, and I just walked to the car because he had a hard time with drop off. I walked to the car just weeping and I came home and I was like well, it's not a good day and I'm just going to sleep a little bit more and I'm going to cry and just allow myself to feel kind of sad for something. That and I was like we did this to them. Frank was like we, we knew that this part was coming. We knew the transition would be a little, a little rough. They weren't even having that hard of a time. It was like my projecting onto everyone and not filling up my cup in the meantime.

Frank

Well, you project, you project.

Lauren

Oh yeah.

Frank

You say I feel this way. How could they? They must feel even worse. They're even. They even have less control over their lives.

Lauren

Oh yeah, my brain's like they're little, they're so little and their, their emotions are so big and they're so sad.

Frank

But like, they're like, yeah, but kids are like built to adapt to stuff and they have yeah, so I don't know. It has a lot to do with like, once you've lost those energy, energy reserves for yourself, like you sink, you sink and you have to know how to like, uh, refill them, yeah and and. But if you, instead of like finding okay, okay, so, for example, you wanted to, you wanted to go to the beach, right, and then when you're like I don't think I can do that today, like you came home defeated.

Lauren

Totally.

Frank

As opposed to like okay. How do we adapt to this? If this isn't the day where I'm just like I'm wanting to get out and do this thing, then today needs to be the day where I like refuel myself.

Lauren

In some way yeah.

Frank

And that can honestly just be like grounding for a minute, right, and you know like we keep talking about grace. I don't want to. I don't like saying that because it's kind of amorphous of a term.

Lauren

To give yourself grace yeah.

Frank

But like literally go outside and put your feet in the dirt, like, yeah, just chill and appreciate where you are and that you're alive and today is a great day and that there's always tomorrow. Yeah, and, and you know what? Treat yourself to a burrito burritos are very healing.

Lauren

Um, something that just a small practice, like in that moment if you're feeling sad, overwhelmed, beating yourself up, whatever, like literally just kind of hugging yourself and like telling your inner child like you're okay, there's, there's really something to that, to like kind of hold your, your heart and say you're you're okay, you're safe. You're you're okay, you're safe, You're you're going to get through this. You're you're tough kid, you know that kind of thing where you're speaking to yourself as if you're five years old.

Frank

Yeah, I heard I saw something on Tik TOK. I can't remember who it was, maybe we'll have it on the show, but and it really struck me. Um, someone was talking about how, when you have those, those bad emotions, that like we're literally here. I mean, I've been talking about like integration a lot lately and, um, in terms of astrology which is funny because I'm not an astrologer at all but uh well, let me give you context for the astrology conversation. First, I've been I finally, after all these years of being like semi woo woo, it was like okay, what's up with the rising sign which is like basically like like step two of like I like astrology.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

It's like what's, what's the rising sign? And after, like really looking into it, I'm like, oh, that's very funny. So I'm a sagittarius, right like a free, loving, freedom, loving uh, you can't hold me down kind of sunset.

Frank

Sure, we're both sagittarius, yeah and then my rising is capricorn, which is the opposite, and it's like well, that sucks, so like kind of some, if you, depending on who you ask, it's like well, that sucks, so like kind of some. If you, depending on who you ask, it's like, uh, you know, by the time you hit your forties which I'm 40, um, you're kind of living a little. It's like it's like splitting your time. You got a timeshare, your little Sagittarius, little Capricorn, and I realized that so much of my anxiety about life comes into play when I'm not, when I haven't figured out that handoff, one of my Sagittarius, one of my Capricorn, give me the cliff notes.

Frank

I talked about this for like way too long. I probably should have recorded that conversation. Um, and so like, when it's when I'm in big, when I'm in like big ideas mode, I should make sure that Sagittarius has taken the wheel right. Oh, I got big ideas. Don't hold me back, I gotta think about this. Like, lauren, don't say no, don't be a naysayer. That's why I call you a naysayer. I'm like no, dream big, real quick, dream big, and, and then, but then when it's like okay, time to execute, let's put this into scale, let's make this doable, I'm like all right, capricorn, take the wheel. Yeah, give me the bullet list. But the bullet points tell me, like, what the structure is, what's my workflow, which is why I'm always like, why do I? Why am I like? Why do I want to like have big ideas and like be super creative and but then, like, I always resort back to being an editor. It's a very detail oriented thing, you know, between like camera stuff and, like you know, audio stuff, video stuff, and I I like that too.

Lauren

There are two very different parts of me and I'm a sagittarius with an aquarius rising, so that makes me a quirky motherfucker and I don't like being told to do anything structured. And why are you trying to hold me down? Frank's like let's get a structure together, let's put this on the calendar and I'm like what's a calendar for?

Frank

This is stupid. And then later she's like why am I not getting anything done? Because you literally are ignoring your calendar. Yes, but yeah, like so. So that's like so much. That's just a small example of like you know and whatever. Look, look into your likes and look into your sun sign and and how it relates to your rising sign, and then, apparently, moon is how you process emotions.

Lauren

I don't even remember what my moon is aquarius oh right, I'm aquarius, so I'm removed, yeah, little all four of our family members in this leon family have aquarius and let's not get into that.

Frank

That's a whole different chat. But the whole point is like, okay, you can, I can the um sagittarius part of myself, if I'm wrong, I can definitely. And if you're not, in astrology like, this is just like a point like consider personality aspects, right, but I'm going to talk in astrology because we have the show In terms of, like, my Sagittarius self could resent my Capricorn and vice versa. My Sagittarius would be like, hey, cappy, like you know, stop, stop being like such a jerk, don't tie me down and my Capricorn could be like you, lazy loser.

Frank

What are you doing? I don't know. And and I've been in those situations and I'm here, living in the center of these two different, very, very different elements of my, my personality, trying to find the middle and and trying to mediate an argument between myself and myself. And I'm like what the what the hell is this all about? Right, and this, that the result is ultimately anxiety and like a depletion of my own energy, because I have, I have chosen to emphasize the wrong aspect of my personality at the wrong time. Now there's a way to do it where, like, we are integrating right, like how do these two can we make them an effective team? So, when we're talking about like our own, and if you want to, you know, use your body as a map, use your emotions as a map. We talk about that a lot.

Frank

If you're like experiencing some conflict, like you have done a bunch of work to, let's say, move to a city somewhere near san diego and you know, today's the first day of school, which means you're a little bit closer to like getting the schedule and the lifestyle that you want, and instead of being happy, you're sitting on the couch and crying. Use that that as a map, figure out what's going on. Like, what does the part of me that's crying right now what is it that they wish were happening right now? What's the feeling that they're chasing? And then the other part of me that, like, set this whole thing up to get here. What did they think was going to happen? Get it to integrate, find the middle ground and, like, get them, get those two aspects of your personality to have a conversation and to see, and then, once you, once you do that, you can start actually like outlining, like what's next for a full integration, so that we can be here and show up in the way that we had planned.

Creating Momentum Not Motivation

Lauren

Yeah, I mean, what I was experiencing was not not only like, oh, okay, now I have the space and a little bit extra time to process what my entire family is experiencing and their emotions and all that that, but also I'm feeling the overwhelm of all the things that I'm paralyzed in a way to like, not get to, and now I'm guilty about that and now I'm like it. I was in this like very vicious cycle doom scroll, you're doom scrolling totally yeah, that's why I called it that.

Frank

Yes, you're just going through all the things once you have the feeling feeling and you're holding onto the feeling, as opposed to integrating it and talking to it and living with it, living alongside it, and then and then working through it. You're holding onto this feeling in your chest and you're finding reasons to justify it. Like, I feel this way, what is it? And you start going through all the reasons that could be going wrong.

Lauren

Listing everything.

Frank

Even though half those things might be fine, it's not a big deal. Yeah, but you're like this is why, and this is why, and this is why and you live in that list You're digging yourself in a hole.

Lauren

Yeah, yeah. So something that I mean I kind of that one day that we're talking about was that was just kind of a rough day, and I said you know what? I'm going to take a nap, I'm going to let myself feel whatever I'm feeling. And Frank was like so kind and supportive and and literally just I was like can you just like pet my head? I just wanted like comfort. And he was like you know, you're doing a great job. And I was like I just need to hear that and you know, something so simple as that can be super helpful, like, and I don't always recognize that I need it until you know he says something like that and I'm like thank you. But so once I got past that, though, Can I do a little interjection real quick?

Frank

I feel like everyone needs to know like, regardless of who you are or what your situation is, you are doing a good job.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

You're fine, you're doing a great job. If there's some conflict in your life that you're experiencing, like you know it's, you're not always the problem. If you're I mean if you're listening to the show you're probably not the problem. Well, honestly, like you're, you're if you're trying to find the track that's that's most suitable for you and you have conflict in your life the fact it You're doing a great job. Yeah, like that's so nice to hear, isn't it? It's okay, you're doing a great job. Oh, look at that. I was like what is Lauren?

Lauren

pushing the buttons, for I am pushing the button Sometimes if. If no one's around to tell you that, we'll tell you that right to us and say I just need someone to tell me I'm doing a good job and I'll be like you're doing great, Tell me a little bit more.

Frank

I mean it's hard because, especially if you found yourself in the environment that's not suitable for you, You're actually surrounded by people who are telling you you're not doing a good job.

Lauren

Yeah, cause, which, like life is hard enough. Why don't? We don't need that. Life doesn't have to be hard. No, I mean, this challenge is sure that's why we're here, right to work through them. But but give yourself a hug if no one's around. Give yourself a hug and tell yourself self little, little little lauren, you're doing a great job.

Lauren

Also, something super helpful pull a tarot card and say I'm having a tough time, what do I need to feel better, or what's something that I can do to feel better? And that's what we started talking about. And and I don't remember what the card was that you pulled for me, but it was it had to do with what's a time in the past when you were able to conquer whatever it is you're kind of having trouble with, and I was like I knew exactly. I was like when I felt so, on top of my day, my time, my motivation and I was super dedicated was I was doing this thing 90 day challenge. Um, several years ago, it was pre pandemic. It all came crashing down. I even I kept it going cause I was starting to train for a 5k and then the 5k was in early March of 2020, which obviously got canceled.

Frank

March of 2020. What a great time.

Lauren

What a time to be alive. Um, but, but it was. It was something that I could follow because, again, I'm not we've said this, I'm not a structure person. However, I have Virgo moon, which apparently makes me crave structure, but I don't know how to create it for myself myself. So I was following this kind of like public 90 day challenge thing that had you follow five specific things, which was just like drinking a lot of water, moving your body, doing like a gratitude practice, giving up something like a bad habit for like 30 days at a time. Oh, and waking up earlier every day, like an hour earlier, which kind of prompts you to go to sleep earlier, it helps your day get started and whatnot.

Lauren

And I was like when I was doing that, I was like kind of helping, like coach people, what, what are your big dreams and what is this? People, what are your big dreams and what is this, and like just feeling so good. And I was like that's when I was really doing well. So I thought I should do that for myself. Again, I don't have like a big group of people to look online like who's on Instagram doing the 90 day challenge, but if I can kind of do that for myself I can have something to hold on to.

Lauren

So I made it a little different and called it 90 days to becoming a wizard no wait, and I named it 90 days to become a wizard. So no wait, and I named it 90 Days to Become a Wizard. So it's just like again drinking water, moving my body for 40 minutes a day, having a gratitude practice, because even just five things that you're grateful for that are really small, not like I'm grateful for my husband saying that every day, which I am, but like the smaller things, like whatever I'm, I'm grateful for Frank for making eggs for the kids this morning, or something like that. Um, and then I also found a somatic course that just happens to be 90 days. So I'm following that too, kind of helping my body release stored trauma.

Frank

Oh wait, I just remembered Part of the journals that I made a long time ago that I'm no longer selling but have an excessive amount of because of a misprint.

Lauren

And if you want one, please write us an email and we'll send you one.

Frank

It opens up as a gratitude journal. So yeah, if you want it, we'll us an email, we'll send you one. It opens up as a gratitude journal. So yeah. Yeah, if you want it, we'll send it to you for free.

Lauren

Just ask. It's an alignment journal. Yeah, it's so cool, it's free.

Frank

I'm not marketing, right now I'm just saying but it is, it's cool. It could have been cool, it just misprint.

Lauren

But anyway, I kind of just realized that, like, if I can find even just one thing that shifts how I operate on a day to day basis and get back to myself, I can feel better. And it's that like, it's kind of like habit stacking, you know.

Lauren

Sure you know, but sometimes you just need to be reminded that you can feel better if you just shift one thing. I had a friend that was like having a hard time a couple of years ago and was like I keep sleeping in because I'm feeling kind of depressed and I really want to get out of bed earlier. And I remember saying what's one thing that you could feel really excited about Is it can you get like a special coffee that you're like I am going to set that up for this time it's going to be brewing when I wake up and like just be, have like kind of a little coffee ritual? Is that like that pumps me up? So anything that is just one small change to start with to get back to yourself and feeling better, anything that is going to shift your day.

Frank

Yeah, I recently discovered how easy it is just to have a quick little thing just for yourself and it doesn't take long. Yeah, if you, if you find yourself you're waking up and you're immediately like maybe just a little sense of dread or like something that you're dreading in your day or just not looking forward to just literally wake up 10 minutes early, those like ex military people who are like I woke up at 4am before my entire family. I've had two days before you've had one.

Lauren

I is that Alex Jones?

Frank

No, is that alex jones? No, okay, alex jones has never woken up early in his life. Okay, I'll even go fly fishing when I was 20. Anyway, those dudes like sure, whatever man, like good for you, like let's talk about your trauma, yeah, but like you need 10 minutes, you 10 minutes. Wake up 10 minutes earlier.

Frank

I've been doing it, I've been doing it and I'm um, you're supposed to give yourself reiki when you're in the practice and like you're supposed to do like 10 or 20 minutes a day. So I'm just like, waking up, I'm sitting over at my desk, which is right over here no one's awake yet and it's literally just like I pop on some. Like I use binaural beats a lot. I love binaural beats just for like to get in the zone. Or I just pop on some nice music. I do the Reiki thing. I put some Reiki on my tummy because why not, man? Yeah, and I chill. I chill for 10 minutes and suddenly I'm like what is this going to do? Even when I'm doing it, I'm like this isn't going to do anything. And then I like stand up. I'm like be sure to tell that to your clients, seriously though it's, I stand up after doing that and I'm like oh, I feel pretty good now, like I did one thing for me.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

And then, side note, lauren was talking about coffee rituals, so I'm trying to do like a whole ancestral veneration thing. I'll probably do a video on it at some point. Uh, uh, uh. I realized that I might have in my life leaned too much into this toxic individualism thing and I'm trying to kind of respect my where I came from, not in a way where I'm, like you know, living my life for them at all, but I'm definitely like acknowledging the things that has been, have the actions that have been taken so that I can have the life that I have now and love that. A big part of my family being Cuban, I'm like I got to learn how to make one of these little tiny coffees AKA coffee and haven't done it yet, but I got all the materials I need to. In the meantime, lauren's been making some badass espressos and holy cow Let. So good, oh my gosh, having a nice coffee. Listen, I'm not when I go to, when I go to, like I don't go to starbucks because they hate unions and I hate them.

Tarot Reading for Finding Momentum

Lauren

Yeah, frank frank. So he doesn't like the union busters, it's fine it's not fine.

Frank

They're not fine. There's lots of little coffee shops thatigeria podcast is not sponsored by as far as our bucks no, um, but yeah, when I go to like a coffee place, I'm getting a drip all the time. It's just I'll have the drip I'll give me, I'll have it black. Oh, room for cream. Give me a little bit. Don't leave too much room, though. But now lauren's making these, these things. I have.

Lauren

I've had three days, while you've had one. Yeah, give me drip coffee.

Frank

Lauren's making these beautiful drinks. I'm like what the hell? This is such a pleasure. What a nice way to wake up.

Lauren

Yeah, you know how can you add magic to your day. It's magic, and you know what?

Frank

Just a little sprinkle of magic. Oh, we should tell everybody now we are going to start doing doing little stuff on our Patreon.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

We are going to be pulling tarot cards twice a week and I'm also going to be doing a Reiki, your beverage thing, again like a 10-minute thing.

Lauren

Frankie Reiki.

Frank

Frankie Reiki. I could call it Freiki, but people would read it as Freaky, which none of it is wrong, that's all correct. But um, now that we're talking about like little rituals and coffee rituals in 10 minutes, like literally, I'm doing like a 10 minute thing, you could do it with me. Um, where we're just going to be doing cause, you can do Reiki too, even if you're not attuned or or have any, what do you call it?

Frank

Ignitions or anything like that yeah, you don't know, you don't know you don't have to know the first thing about reiki, but you can sit down set an intention with frank sit down with your beverage, put your hands on your beverage and we're gonna we're gonna try to infuse it with, like some of the, the gusto that we need for the day yeah and it's gonna be a fun little thing and I don't know, a little community builder, yeah, and maybe it'll tie into some long-term projects that we're working on right now, aside from the documentary oh don't even secret.

Frank

You can't know about this. We're not going anywhere. Get used to us. We're gonna be here forever.

Lauren

Anyway, I feel like we weren't done talking about how to uh un-f your life when you're not feeling it I kind of of feel like you know, it's really hard when, if you are having a bout of just like mental health struggle, that is kind of overwhelming. It's hard when someone's just like make it better, you know, or like don't be so sad. It's. It's truly it feels. There's a feeling of like, and I've never had like really debilitating depression. I've just felt like sad or overwhelmed or like low key depressed, but it's hard to get yourself out of it. But like, really, if there is one thing to just make a moment better, maybe even something that's just like honoring your inner child or some part of you that's just like been a little quiet or ignored or something, I think it can be super helpful dude, like when you gotta shake things up.

Frank

You gotta shake things up, yeah, and it could only. It might only take five to ten minutes for you to feel a little bit better.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

If you're like oh, I'm doing a. All I do all day is like dishes and laundry, and I used to be an artist. Go draw for like five minutes. Yeah, have a, give yourself a pad, give it, give it, give yourself five minute breaks and don't like do your thing.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

If you're like I used to like run or something I don't know what it might be, I'm trying to think of people that don't that. I don't do stuff like that. I was never a runner but like step outside and jog, like run and wind sprint in place for 10 minutes, you might feel like a completely different person. Yeah, if you're letting a bunch of stuff get in your way to like accomplish the thing that you want to achieve, or something that you used to, that used to bring you joy, like do it in the simplest way possible, where you're not letting a bunch of like weird roadblocks stop you from from doing it, yeah, remove as many obstacles as possible.

Lauren

If you just, if you miss singing or like doing I don't know and performing, I mean, that's that's how, that's where I go, because I'm like I love performing. You know, finding, finding a class or making a little video or I don't know anything that's going to like make you feel like you're kind of getting the your old self moving again.

Frank

I, I, this like is all leading to one thing that I maybe this is just the Sagittarius in me, but the I have to personally treat motivation to do something. I have to treat motivation as a myth. You know, like, especially growing up with like, um, very like extroverted people being like, oh, like you got to stay motivated, be motivated. Like what? What is motivation? Like you, you can be motivated after something has been achieved. Oh, that's really motivating. But to wake up in the morning motivated is not a thing.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

What there is is momentum. And to start you will. Momentum will motivate you Right. Yeah, and to start you will. Momentum will motivate you right.

Lauren

Yeah, if you're waiting for the motivation, the motivation is not coming.

Frank

It's a myth.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

It's a myth. If you want to run a 5K right, like, and you're just out of shape and you're feeling terrible about it, like, maybe it starts with a light jaunt around the neighborhood, you know, walk your cat. You heard me.

Lauren

Good luck with that.

Frank

Take your cat for a walk.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

You know that like, oh, you know that was pretty good and it gets a little bit easier. You want to hear something funny? This is speaking of which, especially if it comes to like physical things. When we first moved into the place this place, it was we have stairs now, right, we didn't have stairs before.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

I was moving, we're moving, and I was moving furniture. I went up and down the stairs like three times and I was like I am never going to get used to this again. My legs hurt and everything is shitty.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

And like, literally within like two days, I'm like, oh, I'm a, I'm a absolute champion of leg strength. Now, and I feel amazing. And now I'm like, now I'm like looking for reasons to go down the stairs. I wonder how fast I could get there. Go up and down those stairs with ease, Spoken like a man who does not work on his fitness very much, but I'm just saying that like at first I was like this sucks.

Lauren

And now you're like I've had four days since you've had one.

Frank

I'm just going to keep doing that guy Like it's just the smallest little incremental change can like give you the motivation that you're looking for? Yeah, and especially if you're feeling good about it, yeah. So do the little thing today, that's all.

Lauren

When I did that 90 day challenge several years ago, I wasn't. I wasn't, I wasn't planning on training for a 5k. It was like, oh, let me see how much further I can go with my you know. I was like, okay, every day I have to walk for 30 minutes, that's fine. And then it started being like huh, I feel like I should do like 40, you know, maybe some days I would do a little bit of a longer walk or something. Or I started running and I'm like I'm not a runner, I've never run for longer than like a mile. Like a mile is very hard for me. But yeah, like I wasn't planning on that, it just kind of because of the momentum, that's. That's what kind of led me into doing that. And then it all stopped because everyone got sad pandemic, and I got sad momentum.

Frank

I think momentum is the thing right. Yeah, I mean, covid was a giant momentum killer. Yeah, for everything, oh my god, everything but you know, if you're yeah, build that momentum, just start.

Lauren

It's snowballs, it's snowballs and you know, with that do we want to pull a card?

Frank

yes, uh. So yeah, I talked about how we'd be doing this more now um, the plan is we will do like on TikTok or something. Do you still put stuff on? And Patreon do you still put stuff on like Instagram?

Lauren

I've been behind.

Frank

I'm very behind on our clips we're going to be posting like tarot pulls on what Mondays?

Lauren

yeah, for TikTok and for our Patreon free for all of you. It'll hit you Mondays. Yeah, well it'll yeah, For TikTok and for our Patreon. Free, free for for all of you.

Frank

It'll hit you Mondays or Tuesday mornings.

Lauren

And then coffee, coffee Reiki with Frankie. It's for our paid members right.

Frank

Uh, yeah, so yeah, uh, tarot polls will be, like you know, public, and then, if you want, to come, hang out with us, and aren't you going to be doing something?

Lauren

to start coloring. I'm going to start doing um sort of a. I keep talking about honoring your inner child, and part of my workshop that I've been working on is about doing using creativity to bring to express your inner child. Heal your inner child. Um, express your inner child, heal your inner child, express your joy. And one of the things I'm going to do is a weekly coloring, because sometimes you just need to like. It's a helpful, like clear out your mind kind of thing. I have this tarot set of blank, like uncolored cards tarot cards.

Frank

That's pretty cool, yeah, so that'll be on our Patreon too, okay, If you want to just have a I guess a hangout with Lauren.

Lauren

Hang out with me for like 10 minutes and get your coloring, get your coloring book, get your adult coloring book or just doodle, and we'll just hang out.

Frank

Want to pull a card.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

What question?

Lauren

just a one, a collective card yeah, this is a card for our collective. How do we, what's you? You're good at distilling, so what's the what's the question? Oh, give yourself some room. That was a bad bridge.

Frank

Okay. The question is we're talking about so fancy Lauren's doing the weird card moves. I'm so bad at it I don't know why. Listen, here's the truth, and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm no Donald Trump. I got not big hands. I call them my cadets. If you go get a golfing glove, you can get small, medium, large, but then right between medium and large are cadets. I've got these little strong cadets that are ready to Boy. They're mighty. They're mighty but they're tiny.

Lauren

The mighty cadets.

Frank

The cadets.

Lauren

That's your Reiki handbook.

Frank

The truth is that I cannot handle a regular standard sized tarot deck the way lauren does. I don't know how she does it. I think we have like the same size hand, but I have bigger hands than you we have bigger hands than me, yeah, anyway, yeah, I got long fingers anyway, lauren's better at shuffling oh, shuffling, yeah, yeah, uh, the question I want to ask today.

Frank

Wait before you continue shuffling, oh, shuffling, yeah, yeah. The question I want to ask today Wait before you continue shuffling. Speaking of Trump, oh boy, did anybody else get sucked into some conspiracy theory stuff this weekend like I did? Boy, am I left disappointed? Listen, I'm not wishing harm on anybody, I just want harm reduction.

Lauren

Can the psychics stop giving their predictions?

Frank

Can we stop getting dates on when?

Lauren

can the psychics stop giving their predictions? Can we stop getting dates on when? Can we just? Can we just stop with the public predictions if you're hearing this much later than anything occurred.

Frank

Everyone was saying, oh yeah, hey, donald trump's been missing for six days and we think he's, and like there's a lot of activity at walter reed hospital, I'm like, oh, is it? Is? It is the nightmare over it. It's listen, listen. I can't wait for his life review. That's all I'm saying. I hope he's going to learn so much. Yeah that's all. Yeah, that's all.

Lauren

Um anyway what a weird, what a weird time weird time to be alive Weird time.

Frank

Let's distill a question. The question is that we're talking about motivation not just in life, but like spiritual motivation. Momentum, not motivation momentum what?

Lauren

Finding your way back to yourself.

Frank

What's the spirit guides of the collective, what's the best way for us to? What do we need to know about that momentum? What do we need to know about that momentum? What do we need to know about that momentum? Okay, and, and how? How?

Lauren

it can best serve us and how to fire it up.

Frank

So satisfying, and Lauren has pulled.

Lauren

The page of wands.

Frank

So this one, I mean this, comes up every time we talk about like motivation, it really does.

Lauren

We've been getting this one a lot. Yeah, we've been getting this one.

Frank

This makes perfect sense so it's the card of aspiring to more, and if you look at the card, you see that he's like holding the stick and literally measuring himself up against it. The thing is with this that this can make you sometimes feel like you don't measure up Right, and that sometimes is the block that you need to get through. You're thinking, oh, I want to, let's, I'm just going to keep using the five K for some reason, even though I don't do that. But like you're like, oh, I reason, even though I don't do that, but like you're like, oh, I I want to.

Frank

You know, I used to be able to run a 5k, or like all these people out there running a 5k, or or like they're in super good shape. If that's your goal, it's like, and I'm, I'm in such bad shape I. I just got okay with going up a couple flights of stairs. Frank and like that. That looking to the person that you wish you were and letting it demotivate you is a drag, right, and what you want to do is lean into your creative thinking to circumvent those motivational blockages and just do that first thing, like we were talking about earlier.

Lauren

And know that you have those qualities within yourself, which is part of that card. It's not about measuring up, it's about I'm getting to that next thing.

Frank

I'm not there yet, but I have it in me to get there that feel hard, or you've been to a level that you admire you've. If you look in your past and you think about a time you've done, you've done the thing you can actually use yourself as your own hero and admire yourself, yeah, and use that as a as a motivating factor if you want. But get that momentum going and you'll get there. Yeah, that that's exactly.

Closing and Future Patreon Plans

Frank

That's exactly, I mean that kind of that kind of solidified everything we were just saying I feel like if we had just pulled the card first, we would have had a 10 minute episode no, it needed to.

Lauren

It needed to, uh, solidify, cement, everything that we were saying. It was like yeah, you got it in there, baby friends, thank you.

Frank

Thank you for sticking with us. We've been a little inconsistent. We're working on it, I promise it is what it is.

Lauren

This is our journey, right? We're giving ourselves grace and we hope that you do the same with us. We're giving ourselves grace and we hope that you do the same with us. We're giving ourselves grace and we're showing up in exactly the form that we're in in the moment, and I think that's part of us having this journey. It's nonlinear, right.

Frank

It is, you know, as one more example, before we we hang up something like something that I'll be vulnerable, I'm like you know we're, we're doing this documentary but it's had to go on pause because we've had some you know life in the middle. And, uh, if I look at the bulk of work, I know what I know what like making a film project is to the point where, like it's on a big screen somewhere in front of an audience. If I like keep thinking of that end goal, of what, and the work that needs to come first, before that occurs, I can demotivate myself. I'm looking at that wand and I'm like, oh my God, look, look, how much I have to do.

Lauren

Yeah.

Frank

But at the end of the day, like the thing that's at the end of the day, like today, the thing that is exciting is that, you know, maybe today is not the right day to get the ball rolling again, but as soon as we do, I'm going to be looking for those small incremental goals. Right, I'm going to be like who you know. I'm going to call Sarah Reeves and be like hey, like we're ready to get going again. I'm going to make a couple of phone calls, we're going to have some conversations and like going to whip out the camera and make sure we have everything we need. It's these little incremental goals that get you to that, that end goal. Before you know it, before you know it, you've got yourself a little film momentum. That's all. Anyway, from the bottom of my tiny cadets, thank you so much. We'll see you next time, pals. Bye, thank you for listening.
