Elena Aronson, one of EEF's elders, reflects on the importance of community and the challenges of identity, particularly in the context of racial and social issues. Drawing from the biblical story of Nehemiah, she emphasizes the need for both physical and spiritual repair within communities. Nehemiah's response to the brokenness of Jerusalem serves as a model for acknowledging personal and collective sin, leading to confession and repentance. Elena pushes us to grieve the brokenness, recognize our relationship to it, and actively participate in the work of repair alongside God and each other.
