Navigating Struggles Towards Self-Improvement

you . Greetings , hi and hello everyone . My name is jason pizzi flair . I'm a speaker , I'm a podcaster and my life's work is centered around allowing the world to meet the true you , by helping you think , speak and eventually live better than yesterday . We do this , first , by establishing a good reason why , a strong and powerful motivation to keep going when the going gets rough . Second , we need awareness and acknowledgement of what's holding us back . And third , we need scalable steps forward as a reliable bridge between who we are right now and who we need to be tomorrow and the day after that , and the day after that and the day after that . This , my friends , is how you go from stuck to thinking as , speaking as and living as the true you the True you , you know .

Sometimes I really do wonder what it is about my life that just attracts so much difficulty or that invites so much challenge . Now , bear in mind , this is a feeling that often gets magnified the more I'm just in my own head or in my own emotions , to the point of thinking that I'm the only one going through stuff like this . But I realize , with just a bit more , you know , introspection or actually , technically , the opposite of that just a bit more of an external perspective gives me context into the fact that other people deal with this kind of stuff too . Just what seems like endless struggle or endless suffering or trials or endless tumult , like it . Like it's something that when it's your sole focus , it can get very , it can be very demoralizing . And today I just want to briefly because I don't want to make this too long of an episode just relate a little bit when I think about the myriad of times that people have ever told me oh , you're going to be great or you have so much potential , you're going to be amazing , you're going to speak to the world . You know you're going to be amazing , you're going to speak to the world , you're going to be a world changer , an atmosphere shifter , a life transformer Just the craziest things that people well-meaning have spoken over me or to me , and I don't know if this is something that I'm just going to have to pray about and like submit to God as far as just my own personal relationship with such phrases . But nowadays I feel almost as if and I say this humorously , but there is some truth to it I feel like a salty elderly person that just can't be bothered anymore with hearing the hogwash . And this isn't me calling all of that stuff hogwash , necessarily . It's more so me calling the price tag that comes with it , the invisible price tag that comes with all of that stuff . That's what I feel like calling hogwash . Or , you know , nonsense .

People speak into your life . For example , if you've ever been told you have such amazing potential , great , awesome , cool , that's dope . But you know what that also means . I'm going to be chasing fulfillment of that potential wherever my skills lie or wherever my purpose lies , and much of my struggle , much of my suffering , much of the sacrifice that I'm going to have to push out or birth out of my mind or out of my own physical effort is going to come about . That pain is going to come about because of my journey to fulfill that potential , because of my journey on the road of purpose or calling , which you know is it's all connected to the word potential , and when people speak such things , they they don't tend to also warn you of the price , and so that's what's created in me a bit of the difficulty in hearing such things or in associating with .

You know just what some may think is an encouraging word , but to me it's a heavy one . Not that I never want to hear it , don't get me wrong . It's just that I'm at the place where , right now , it's hard for me to take my eyes off of that price tag . It's hard for me to not feel just a little jaded sometimes when I think about the difficulties I'm going through and the fact that I'm aware enough to realize that I'm not going through them for myself . I'm not going through all of them because I deserve to or because I caused those situations or those difficult scenarios . I'm going through them because somebody in my future is going to be just like me , stuck like me , broken like me , weak like me , and is going to need the strength that I will have cultivated by that point . That same person is going to need the wisdom that I will have gathered and refined by that point . That person is going to need the relatability that I will have earned by that point .

And so I'm going through what I'm going through for you , whoever you are , that , just like me , you're tired of not being enough . You're tired of feeling like tired of not being enough . You're tired of feeling like everything you do is insufficient . You're tired of feeling like great intentions or good intentions aren't enough , effort isn't enough , hard work isn't enough . You it it just just the whole message of your life feels like never enough . This is for you , even if you don't always feel like that and you sometimes feel like feel like that , then then make use of this . I encourage you to .

But that's been my life story , just the word word insufficiency up until this point . But I am on this new path now where I'm rewriting the theme of my story . From this point forward , I am relabeling my life . It is no longer a life of insufficiency . I don't exactly know what word I'm going to be replacing it with yet , or I don't exactly know which word God has replaced it with yet . I'm figuring that out . But as I figure it out , until I get my own word , I've decided to cling to the one who is more than enough . I've decided to cling to the one who satisfies all my needs , the one who provides for all my needs , maybe not in the time that I want , or maybe not in the ways that I prefer , but I cannot sit here recording this and tell you that he has failed me . I can't . Literally everything that I've been through Ever that has been resolved has been resolved in a way that has made me better Every Single Time as long as I'm looking for it , but ultimately not to get too sidetracked .

I'm realizing more and more that this is my toiling upwards through the night . It's hard , it's painful and even right now , as I'm recording this , I kind of have a headache . And it's Thursday and I know tomorrow , which is Friday , seven o'clock , this needs to be up and there's just no question in my mind anymore of whether or not I could post it or should I just ? I just do , because it's who I am now . That is how I am measuring my success . Have I checked that box ? That's how I'm measuring my success right now . Of course , as time goes on , I'm going to add on to that a bit more quality control , because I want to make sure that I improve in quality over time . Not just quantity , but quality , depth , breadth . You know all that . But let me go back just for a moment .

Toiling Upwards Through the Night

That toiling upwards through the night statement that I made . It's from a poem that my parents , specifically my mom , I believe . Mom , if you're listening right now , I absolutely love you . Thank you so much for not just the gift of my life and the care and nurturing that you've put into it , but also just the endless wisdom that you've bestowed upon me and the nigh-infinite patience that you've exhibited throughout my knucklehead years and , yeah , my wayward moments . I just think to myself , well , before I get into any of that man I almost got emotional there for a second , but I'll get back to that this poem that she would always recount to us just endlessly well , well , not endlessly like that , not every day , but any time that it was appropriate , any time that she wanted to encourage or inspire us to keep working hard , she would tell us this Heights of great men reached and kept , but were not attained by sudden flight , but they , while their companions slept , were toiling upwards through the night .

Friends , I'm not reading this on a screen , I'm not reading this on my phone or on a piece of paper . That is from memory , because I grew up with that kind of mentality , with that kind of philosophy , with that kind of mantra spoken over me , into me and out of me Heights of great men or women reached and kept Meaning they didn't just get high and then fall immediately after . They're called great men and women because they reached and they kept . They've got staying power , they've got consistency . It's a part of who they are . It's their character . They reached and kept . But they were not . Those heights were not attained by sudden flight . It wasn't an overnight thing . Even those quote-unquote overnight sensations that you see on social media or whatever the real ones , the manifestation or the not manifestation , the unveiling happened in the span of a night , but the manifestation was taking place over years , days , weeks , months . It took time to build up the talent that you see , that blew up with one video that went viral , as it were . But they were not attained by sudden flight . But they , while their companions slept , or I can even say while their competitors slept , they were toiling upwards , working upwards , fasting upwards , dedicating themselves upwards , consistently , improving upwards , studying upwards , upwards , consistently improving Upwards , studying Upwards , growing Upwards Through the night .

What sets you apart from your competition ? Just like everyone else complaining about the president or about the economy , or complaining about religion , or complaining about their family , or complaining about past scars that are forever holding them in place . I'm not discounting those scars , I'm not discounting the pain , I'm not discounting any difficulty that the presidency or the economy or religion , might you know , visit upon your life , but I am communicating with full confidence that those things cannot be blamed for where you are right now . They cannot be the sole responsibilities for where you have ended up . Have you been toiling upwards through the night ?

What's the standard that you hold yourself to ? Don't talk to me about your friends . Don't talk to me about your spouse or your children or your parents . Now's not the time for that . There is a time for that , but now's not it . Talk to it . Talk about it with your therapist . I encourage you and everyone to get therapy . Go to counseling . It's done wonders for me . But anyway , what standard do you hold yourself to ? What's the quality control that you've got going on in your own shop ? What quality assurance is being maintained consistently throughout your organization ?

And by , just to be clear , I'm talking about your brain . I'm talking about how you think . I'm talking about your life . I'm talking about the time you wake up in the morning . I'm talking about how you wake up in the morning .

What time do you go to sleep ? What do you put in your body ? How do you speak to your friends ? How do you speak to your family ? How do you speak to people who are rude to you ? Are you rude back just because you can be ? Are you rude back just because you can be , or have you been toiling upwards in your patience ? Have you been toiling upwards in your grace ? Have you been toiling upwards in your what's another good value In your generosity ? Are you generous not just with your money , but with your time ? Do you care about people ?
