One of the greatest modern-day idols in our generation is ourselves. Too often, we fail to recognize how self-oriented we have become and how easily we idolize our own desires. Instead of growing to be more like Christ—who gave His life for us—we shrink inward, feeding the cravings of our own hearts while neglecting the world around us. At times, we even choose to be blind to the suffering of others because we are too consumed with our own concerns.
