No, I can't say I have read the book. Okay. My uh knowledge of Wuthering Heights comes from being married to a crazy Kate Bush fan. Like my husband who's like the world's biggest Kate Bush fan.

Yeah. Um I studied it in school and um and so I've like I studied English literature when I was at school and I just love it's such a deep, dark, stormy, yeah, um, emotional, but but a bit sexy? It's it it like really tight sexy, like it's so like it's agonizing sexy. Do you know what I mean? Like it's real angst and agony. Oh my god. It's such an amazing, amazing novel. Um, and I've probably read it five or six times. So when I saw that, yeah, it was coming out with Jacob Alordy and Margot Robbie, yeah. It's a stunning casting. Like they are both just the hottest Australians on the earth right now.

Well, it just goes to show you how versatile this amazing actress is. Like to go from something like, you know, the Wolf of Wall Street to Barbie to Wuthering Heights, like that's exceptional.

Her interviews and stuff, she's like she is hilarious. She's funny. And oh, what did I say? It's like a reel of her a couple weeks ago where she's like saying how she loves Love Island, and she had for her birthday, she had a Love Island themed birthday party, and everyone had to dress up as like people from Love Island, and they like rent to the house. And I'm like, you are that's hilarious. Like, I love that. Plus, apparently, this soundtrack of this film is gonna be it's gonna have some Charlie X bangers in there. So that's like, yeah. I mean, way to make a hype film. Cheers, babe.

Cheers, to us, cheers to the final, the penultimate week of Survivor Australia V World. What are your high-level thoughts on the season?

SPEAKER_01 4:44

Well, my high-level thoughts are that I I just don't think that we've seen um a series of Survivor that we're all so invested in. Um, and I I mean what I would love to see next is an Australia V uh America. Oh yeah.

I think Well is that because I've heard whispers like that's what they originally wanted to do or something and it didn't work out. I gotta say, I I'm with you, but I actually really liked the international.

Um this is nothing and and that's not I didn't think I would.

Yeah.

Because I hadn't seen any of them before. But I was I thought they contributed a lot.

I think that um in this first season of Australia vs. the world, they couldn't have got a better cast. Like it was it's such a diverse cast in terms of I know they were all very successful survivors in their own right in their own seasons because they're all winners or runners up. So they're all amazing.

That was a good move as well, because then it's like even if you don't know them, you're being told that they're good players, so you go, oh okay, they earned their spot here.

Totally, they all earned their spot. And it's just highlight highlighting to us like I haven't watched New Zealand and I haven't watched South Africa, no, but I'm dying to, and now I want to, you know, I met some made some new friends in America in New York last year when we watched finale 47, and I met some I met four Quebec players that was super cool, and they had um and since talking to one of them since Cass was announced, I mean, he just said she is an absolute beast.

I mean, she's beautiful, she's smart, insanely beautiful, she's so funny, yeah, she made great television.

Yeah, she did. Yeah, she was. I just wish we had seen more of her too and probably got to know her a little bit more.

I feel like we'll see her again. I don't know. I every now and then I see someone on Australian Survivor, and I'm like, you're coming back.

Yeah, and I think she'd be good on the traders too. Yeah, on the traders US though, yeah, or any on honestly, any of it.

Do you think that's next? They'll do like an international traders.

Oh, like that would be amazing. I mean, I'd love to see some more Australians on the UK or the US traders. That would be mix it up a little bit more.

Well, I hope American producers are taking note of this. I think they are. I reckon they're looking at this season, they're going, oh shit, okay, so people actually want this. Yeah. Because I feel like they were never gonna do it. Yeah. Because let's be real, like American producers, they assume that their audience just wants Americans, but I think they're gonna see after the fan response from this, yeah, you can do a hot of V world thing, yeah, and people will be really excited about it.

I think, well, I think the ex the fact that you can't even watch it in America and it's it's not streaming in America and it's not streaming in Canada is insane to me.

Because obviously the super fans have m means and ways of viewing it, but like they're missing all that other audience.

The success of this, like, even you know, especially following an Australian season, they can't, I mean, they have to capitalise on this. This is stupid not to. Absolutely.

Should we get stuck into it? We've got so much to talk about. Um, let's go back to episode seven. Yeah. Uh this started with we've just seen your good friend Kirby go home.

Oh my gosh. And Pavi's like, she's happy-ish that that happened, but she doesn't feel great about it. Because she did kind of, yeah. She dumped her girlfriend.

She dumped her girlfriend, but she also told her that she was never going to write her name down. And she wrote her name down. True. Yeah. But then she had to show those other people that she was still in the game with, yeah, that she was still with them. So I can see why she did it. Kirby was such an enthralling, huge player, and I'm sure somebody very different than part that Parvity's never played with somebody like her before. Oh no, never. And wasn't that amazing to see? It was cool. Yeah. Like that interaction, like, aside from the chemistry that they had between them, um, just watching Parvati's reaction to having somebody like a Kirby approach her e even during those challenges and say, I want to work with you, you know. It was awesome. It was cool. Yeah, it was really cool.

I think Parv actually broke Kirby. Because like I think Kirby's like normally so normally so like good at her poker face and just kind of keeping it cool, calm, collected. That's Kirby's brand, right? And you're always like, oh, what's she gonna do? Everyone's terrified. But I think she I saw her kind of she got a little schoolgirl crush on Parv, I reckon, which like it was pretty good. She's only human.

Yeah, yeah. And imagine, you know, seeing this version of Parv, like Parv is looking absolutely rockin', yeah, and she looks so strong out there. How strong did she look?

It's wild, yeah. In all the endurance challenges, I'm just like, I could never.

Yeah, she's um, you know, yeah, very inspirational. Um, have you read her book?

No, I would like to though. Oh, I've remembered. I've listened to a bit of her pod, and that's cute. The one with Shawnee was really good.

Oh, I I listened to that as well. Um her book is amazing, like her book is really fantastic, but it just goes to show you that um, yeah, her coming out this season, she was not she was not putting anything to chance back to talking about voting out Kirby. I mean, the fact that she hasn't had a vote against her at this point is wild. It's wild, isn't it? Wouldn't you like who do you think was the like should have been the number one target from the get-go? Honestly, yeah.

I mean I but of like Tony, I think she's very lucky that Tony was there. Yeah, because Big Mate Shield. He took that first. Similar to how Golden God and George were out first on um the Aussie tribe. I feel like yeah, I feel like she was next on the pecking order from them if it went that way. Yeah.

And so it just goes to show you what incredible gameplay looks like to not have a had a vote against her yet. It's it's really like like w uh uh amazing for us to see.

Cass and Suri, however, are pretty stoked with the Kirby. Yes, uh as you would be. Yeah. Um and Luke and Janine at this point are still kind of in their delulu Aussie strong vibe. Yeah. Which at this point I thought they were stupid, but hey, it does end up uh working quite well for them.

And the thing is, you don't know what else like we don't know what we're not seeing. Like what are what are these other conversations that are going on at the same time like that we're not seeing?

Yeah. Oh, it's so good. I have a friend of mine works with Janine. Yeah and he was like, Yeah, she came back because they were supposed to do some corporate retreat or something around that time for the company. Oh, and it had been delayed. No, no, they still did it without her. She was like, You can just do this without me. I'm like, oh my god, that's hilarious. And then apparently, yeah, she came back and all she said was, look, I did my best. And I'm like, Yeah, you did.

She's playing so well. She's playing unreal. I'm so proud of her. Like, I'm so proud of her, you know, as another older woman, I'm just like, you're fucking rocking it for for us. And I am like, I'm in awe.

Even though she does I class her as one of those players from the mateship era of Australian Survivor, so she is still, I feel like she's a she's got a little bit to learn in terms of like like how cutthroat the gameplay is now. Yeah. But she's she learned pretty quickly. And also, weirdly, being tight with someone was kind of all you needed to do this season, I think. Because everyone else was doing the big target thing. And being in a two, I think has look the final fours, yeah, two twos. Yeah.

So and was that Lisa's downfall and was that Shawnee's downfall? Yeah, downfall.

Yep. Maybe. I think because of the short nature of this season, you get to that five or that six, and people are coming up. And if you've got nothing, if you've got nobody, you're fucked. It's kind of like let's just play a little bit safe now. Not that anyone's played safe this whole game, really, but safer.

So I I the only thing that like I I only watched, I didn't watch all of it, I haven't watched it all yet, but I just heard a snippet of her saying I went out there knowing that this is this was how she was gonna play, that she was just gonna play as a one and she was gonna be a flower.

She was gonna give us shantent.

She won the game of I'm here to be on TV, I think. Good honor. Yeah, which is also a valid game strategy.

And you know, kudos to her. She was out there with a nine-month-old baby having an I cannot believe that. I cannot believe it either. Like, I it that is so brave, and she's a real she's a really like she's she's cool, she's very cool, but she's so much stronger than we think.

Yeah, I think, yeah, week two was Shon Tent week. Yeah and then this week I was like, where is Shantent? Yeah, there it is. Yeah, it was in the background, and that's when I was like, all right, it's not looking not looking good for our girl.

You kinda read the editing. The writings on the wall. Um Luke does some damage control with Sari. He's hoping that the international will kind of be on board with him next time. I'm like, all right, Luke, keep trying that. Um Sari and Janine, this was unexpected.

I loved this. They kind of they're vibing.

That's right. Um, and why wouldn't they? Like they are both really intelligent. I think they kind of got each other, like in ways that the others didn't, like the ways it in like Parv wouldn't get Janine, um and Luke certainly wouldn't get Parv. I think they're weird.

They're both quite sincere people, I think. Totally, and I think I could see Janine, you know, she's like a super successful business person, and I for that I imagine she's done business in America, and I think she understands like their cultural sensitivities in a way that maybe like like Luke, obviously, yeah, he's pretty like salt of the earth. Yeah, I feel like Janine was very happy to do a bit of like diplomacy.

Oh, she was this was outstanding. The groundwork that she laid here for like that first initial step and then on to the next step. It was brilliant gameplay. I have no doubt that she had thought about it. How am I gonna do this smartly? Which is the best way gonna to to approach Sari about this? I'm not gonna be able to make the same inroads with parvity, so I think Sari is my way to go, and she did it amazing. That was like that was like flawless the way that we watch that.

Yeah, that's really good. Uh Cass hasn't opened her scroll yet, so she got this scroll last week. She opens it, and I was hoping for something crazier, but hey, it was just a spa award, which is also fabulous.

I don't know. I I have no idea. I feel like I would literally just take people that I wanted to go to a spa with. I feel like strategy would be like out the window for me at that moment.

And clearly that's what she did. Yeah. That's that's how she played it. She put she took people, it wasn't it wasn't, it wasn't strategic. It was um it was who who am I gonna have a fun time with, hoping that maybe there would be some some strategy talk with Parv and Or an advantage there or something.

They were all kind of looking under the but also.

I mean, she and Tommy are a pair, Cerie and Parvity are a pair. So maybe she thought that the two of them might make some inroads with the two of them. I don't know. Like we didn't have we haven't had enough kind of backstory and like we haven't seen enough of the four of them together to know whether there was anything to really work on in the first place. What do we?

Yeah, and this is also the insane episode where like this is all happening like one minute into the episode, and then the challenge is like three minutes into the episode, and you're like, hang on, what's going on here? We're all looking at the time of oh, we're going to travel and it's 15 minutes in. Um, we did get this beautiful scene with Parv and Sari at the spa though, where they kind of like you know once again solidified their bond and had a bit of a chills. Same. It was beautiful.

I've literally got chills like watching the two of them in the hammock and really cement that that relationship, that friendship, that alliance that they've had, you know, since the Black Widow, the first Black the Black Widow um point one. It's um honestly, it gives me chills. It makes me tear up because it was it was really, really cool to see. It was one of those iconic moments like of iconic moments on this season, I think that was one of the most amazing ones. Yeah, yeah.

And for it to be happening on like Australian Survivor as well.

I can piss too. Like the the the I was taken on our spa reward, and so um, but oh my god, all your dying, and and they're only what how many days have they been out there at this point?

And I'd been out there 30 uh 32, I think it was, or 33, and I was so you're pretty stinky and you're really looking for some food, and you just want to wash your hair so bad. So I mean, after even after if I haven't washed my hair in three days, I'm like dying.

So yeah, but that was all over very quickly. Oh, meanwhile back at camp, the Aussies break the box open. Yes, because it's not a season of Australian survival without someone breaking. Smashing a box open.

And it had to be the Australians smashing the box, not anybody else.

Of course, which I thought was great. I could see the camera people be like, alright, just do it.

Oh god. Uh, this immunity challenge, we walk in and Lisa goes, doesn't look like a puzzle. Well done, Lisa. Lisa's like little bits. Wasn't she such good value? She was really good. We watched her go on a full roller coaster this season, I swear.

Yeah, it was kind of it was so awesome to watch her at times, and then other times it was actually quite difficult to watch her.

Yeah, I felt like you say, a roller coaster. That I had that for her a few times where I'm like, because I'm so cringe, and like I would probably do the same as her.

But um I I think that, you know, yeah, that that's what I would have tried to do.

This challenge was wild. It was the like stacking the cards with the leaky bucket and the water keeps it up, yeah. And everyone's freaking out, and I think they like wanted to edit this in a way where it was like, oh, it's close, but Tommy was just like he was amazing.

Yeah, he was amazing. Because it when um my husband and I were watching it, yeah, we were like, Oh god, this is gonna go on for a really long time. And he did it in like 12 seconds. Two seconds, yeah. And when you're out there and doing those challenges, some of those challenges do take a really long time, and you're in the like boiling hot sun, it's really, really hot, it's in the middle of the day, or it's or it's pouring with rain, and it's hot. Um but he was just like he was so focused, like awesome challenge to win. Like, kudos to him, mate. That was really hard.

He did good back at camp. Chat is underway. Um, Sari's basically like Shawnee or Luke. Yep. Um, and then this was when I was like, there's 20 minutes left in this. Uh we are 20 minutes into this episode. Okay. Um, then it gets scramble crazy. Luke can't get anything out of Parv and Sari. They're just like, We have glam show. They're so good at that, aren't they? They're just like, thank you. We're not talking to you. No, you can't.
