Tuesday Announcements 7/1: Concert Season, Upcoming Events, and TBD on this Week's Guest

Erik Nilsson

Summer has arrived in Salt Lake City, bringing an exciting lineup of events, festivals, and cultural celebrations worth marking on your calendar.

Just released is our conversation with Manoli Katsanevas, founder of the beloved Manoli's and Perea restaurants. This deep dive explores his culinary journey and significant contributions to Salt Lake's food scene, while highlighting the upcoming Greek Festival that promises authentic cuisine, vibrant performances, and cultural traditions whether you're attending for the first or twentieth time.

The city is buzzing with activity as concert season hits its peak – from Halsey and Kesha to local performances, music lovers have plenty to celebrate. Wine enthusiasts won't want to miss our Wine Wednesday event at Nona Bistro featuring Jimmy Santangelo of Wine Academy of Utah, promising an evening of exceptional tastings and knowledge. Meanwhile, foodies should clear their schedules for July 9th when the Food Truck Cheese Fest takes over Mill Creek Common from 5-8pm, offering a family-friendly opportunity to indulge in creative, cheese-filled creations from local vendors.

With both July 4th and Pioneer Day (July 24th) approaching, Salt Lake City will transform with parades, fireworks, rodeos, and community gatherings. Our Thursday newsletter will feature comprehensive guides to these celebrations, ensuring you don't miss the festivities around our beautiful city. Whether you're celebrating Independence Day traditionally or embracing the uniquely Utah "Pie and Beer Day" alternative to Pioneer Day, there's something for everyone.

What is up everybody and welcome back to another Tuesday update. It is me, eric Nilsson, the host of the Small Lake City podcast, and have a couple announcements for you. First off, if you haven't listened to the episode with Manoli Katsanevas, it's amazing. He's such a good guy who's done so much for the community. We talk about him founding Manoli's definitely my favorite Greek restaurant in the city, how that led to him starting his second restaurant, perea, and then also talking a lot about the Greek community and also the Greek festival coming up, which you should all be excited for, whether this is your first time or your 20th time going. So we'll have more details as we get closer to that. Been super grateful. It's been concert season. As we get closer to that, been super grateful. It's been concert season. I went to Halsey last Tuesday, went to a Ranger sound car and do party on Saturday, which was a blast, and then actually headed to Kesha tonight. So lots of great concerts. We have a lot more giveaways coming up. Excited to announce some more with you as well.

Next Wednesday, we have Wine Wednesday at Nona Bistro with Jimmy Santangelo of Wine Academy of Utah. Keep an eye out on the Instagram post for RSVP and more information. Just trying to wrap up some details to get that up and going. This weekend is obviously the 4th of July weekend, so definitely be safe. But there's a lot of great places to check out, some fireworks and a lot of things around the city. I will be doing an exhaustive list of that this Thursday on the newsletter. So make sure to go sign up for that, while you can, just on the website, small lake podcom, and it will guide you to the right place. And also, if the 4th of July is coming around the corner, then we sure as hell know that the 24th of July is coming up, aka pioneer day, aka pie and beer day, however you decide to celebrate. So there's a lot of things coming up from rodeos and parties and all sorts of fun stuff. So we'll get a little bit more detailed information as we get closer to that.

Also coming up next week on July 9th is the Food Truck Cheese Fest by Cash Valley Creamery, which is going to be at the Mill Creek Common. Lots of great food. It's going to be a family-friendly event. So bring your mom, bring your dad, bring your kids, bring your grandpa, bring your grandma, whoever you want to. That'll be between 5 and 8 pm at Mill Creek Common. Like I said, 1353 East Chambers Ave, mill Creek, utah. In case you need to know, I'll be there shoving my face full of cheese, so make sure to come join me and enjoy some great food.

Other than that, I actually don't have a guest on 100% lineup for this weekend. There's a few people who could potentially be just working on some scheduling, so we'll hopefully have something announced on Thursday. If not, it might be a pause week and I'll release another Vault episode or we could have a full episode. So keep an eye on the Instagram account and newsletter for that and hopefully have something better to update you with. Otherwise, go check out the episode with Manoli Katsanevas, or the episode that I just released this week from the Vault series with Eason Cisneros of Thirst Drinks. So, yeah, lots of great things coming up, but stay in the mix by following on Instagram, subscribing to the newsletter and making sure that, on this episode, that you are following Small Lake City and that you are downloading all new episodes so they are ready for you whenever you want them. So have a great week, have a great 4th and I will catch you later this weekend.
