Hi friend — welcome back to The Habit Within! I’m Camille Kinzler, and today’s episode is a little different — because I’m pulling back the curtain and sharing the 10 shifts that completely changed my life back in 2018.

At that time, I was burned out, overwhelmed, and living on autopilot. I was overworking, over-giving, and running on empty. What followed was a total 180 — a series of choices, both big and small, that moved me out of survival mode and into alignment.

These shifts are the foundation of why I do what I do today, and why I know change doesn’t always have to be slow. Sometimes, it’s a leap.

Hey friends It's Camille host of this podcast The habit within and today we are going to talk about the 10 shifts that changed everything for me back in 2018 Truly it was a 180 shift and Today, I want to share all about that. 

It's gonna be a little bit different because it's all a little bit about of my personal life behind the scenes story about it what it really took and Looked like for me to move from being completely burned out and overwhelmed to being fully aligned Yeah from unconscious just coping it to consciously creating so I'm calling it the 10 shifts that changed everything and these are the things that I stopped doing and Things that I started doing and the choices that I made that some felt really small and some felt huge But they changed absolutely everything. So let's get into it drumroll Number one, I stopped doing everything I was doing at that time. So I actually stopped working out. 

I stopped going to yoga I stopped drinking. I stopped overworking and Yeah, I guess it looks like I was in this full shutdown mode My stress state was such that I went into full freeze mode And I was just enough It was just basically where I didn't know what was helping me and I didn't know what wasn't working all I knew is I was doing all of those things and it didn't seem to be shifting the way that I was feeling inside and Where I knew I wanted to go it wasn't helping me get to that step. So I stopped it and stopped doing it all Number two as I started asking what do I need right now in this moment? So I went inward really for the first time ever. 

I remember I would just lay on My kids floor and their playroom and I look up at the ceiling with toys all around me and I would just do nothing I would just like lie there and just think to myself like what is the thing that I need right now? And the thing I kept hearing at that time was space Okay, granted. I had a toddler a baby. I had a full-time job. 

I had a 90-minute commute So there's a reason why I was hearing that I needed space for sure But it kept coming up and actually it was the word that kept coming up for years after I really made more space for myself number three is I Questioned the way I was practicing medicine. I questioned whether the system was helping people or harming people. I Questioned is it really true that people have a have addiction or is it something else? I Questioned my career. 

I questioned what it really meant to help heal somebody and to really help them. I questioned absolutely everything Number four I found people who are doing things differently So the people out there that were doing seemingly crazy and courageous things I started like poking around and wanted to be their friends These people were coaches and healers and creative thinkers and really thought outside the box These people were disrupting systems and I loved it They were doing it not just because they were you know screaming and crying and hooting and hollering they were really doing it because they really wanted to find the truth and to heal and it really opened to something up in me and That it was transformative and some of these people are still some of my dearest dearest friends And now I'm looking for that next iteration of the people who are doing seemingly crazy and daring things Number five I hired a coach and then another one and then another one Each one reflected back this version of myself I hadn't met yet and they weren't afraid to tell me the dang truth and what I didn't want as I didn't want a Therapist who Couldn't be real with me about their own personal life and it's part of the code It's part of the way that we are in like same with medical providers. You're not supposed to share personal stuff I'm not saying I wanted somebody to cry With me and tell me their whole backstory and all that stuff, but I wanted somebody who was real So if I was looking at trying to break my drinking habit I wanted somebody who had been there if I was working with somebody who? Completely transformed their life. 

I did a 180. I wanted that person I wanted to work with the best of the best who had done that and I wanted them to teach me I wanted somebody to teach me how they did it and I had some of them some amazing transformative things happen by doing that Really truly what it was is somebody just telling me to get out of my own way. So I Could take those next bold steps to become the next iteration of myself Because the thing is is that we always get in our own way and we truly just don't know what we don't know We have these massive blind spots and all of our body and brain is telling us to do is to stay safe It doesn't want us to jump off that proverbial cliff And the only thing the thing that most of us need to do is jump off the proverbial cliff It will change our lives completely All right Number six is I trained in NLP in hypnosis and lifestyle coaching So again, like I said, I wanted to really figure out and do things differently and this really rewired my brain It allowed me to see the world differently and these methods these techniques and practices is I Use still to this day. 

My husband actually shares it with his co-workers with his staff I'm way on the way that they can resolve issues and help and heal themselves I use it in my coaching practice. It is phenomenal and and yeah, it really allowed me to see that things were left less of a battlefield and really the big thing in NLP is It helps you recognize your reality your internal mental model perceptions and Representation of reality, which is called the map is Not actually the same thing as reality itself the actual territory, right? So I hope that makes sense We all process things differently. I process things differently than my husband. 

My husband processes things differently than his parents And vice, you know and the list goes on and on and on and so once we can understand the way that I view The world is different than the way somebody else does and neither of them are wrong. They're just different it changes your world So that was another really big thing that I did Let's see Number seven is I traded in doing triathlons and hot vinyasa yoga like Bikram and stuff like that For other types of stillness of going inward technique So when I was ready to start adding things back in after I took everything out I would do it one at a time and ask myself. Is this really? Is this really taking me to the edge? Is it really? creating this new Reality for me within the experience. 

So I started exploring Kundalini yoga. I started doing breath work sound healing I stopped performing all of these wellness things and I started really embodying it and it and allowed me to really Reset my nervous system, which is not one of the things I have on the list, but that's what I did I reset my nervous system over a couple of years to where I actually couldn't go back into a hectic Clinical environment like I had before where I was seeing 30 Patients in a day and it was actually that's not even true It was like 52 is the most amount that I saw in a day, which is absolutely insane My nervous system wouldn't allow me to go back into that because it's not actually normal for us to do in a day and day out basis So yeah, I started doing all of those things You know somatic type work where I was really getting into my body number eight as I kept my vision so Clear everything else melted away. I didn't just name what I wanted. 

I felt it. I saw I wrote it I lived inside of it before it ever showed up I played in the impossible and actually one of my mentors Jim Ford and he always says 100% impossible 100% of the time and Absolutely. That's what I lived in and that vision pulled me forward when it felt really really heavy or like I couldn't Really do it. 

Okay, so I held that vision So clearly number nine is that protecting my my energy like it was nobody's business my clean energy or I don't know like the high I stopped watching the news. I stopped listening or or You know hanging out with negative people. I released negative people. 

I noticed who drained me I noticed who lit me up and I adjusted my life accordingly. I mean I protected it to a T and honestly, it had such a massive ripple effect. Number ten is I chose myself each and every day That was the choice that I made and you know what and doing so it actually made me more loving more patient more present My husband noticed it first. 

He actually said you're so different when you're When you're around strangers, he's like you're so present with people and that to me was the ultimate compliment because he had known me for Decades. Oh and my boy just walked in he not feeling good Um But that was the ultimate compliment because when you choose you you Your love just overflows. It just has a place. 

It just naturally just wants to flow out to other people So yeah So the reason why I created this I guess I should have said it in the first place is because just recently I'm doing this next really big shift in my life this next up leveling and My husband asked me he was like What did you do back in like 2018 or so when you were like so confident so sure of yourself so within that power That you aren't doing now and it like really just stopped me in my tracks that he recognized first off You know that that I did have such a massive change But then also that I wasn't implementing those things now And so let me take a step back and say like what what is going on? Like what can I start doing again that can really help? Propel me to have that quantum leap and one of my episodes I talk about your change doesn't have to be slow It can also be extremely fast and in order to do that you Really you can't have this quantum leap and in order to do that.
