Wine Camp 2025 Details & other “nuggets”

[00:00:00]

[00:00:35] Penny Fitzgerald: My Wine Camp partner Robin Hackney and I have been busy planning Wine Camp 2025, our retreat for ladies that combines self care, some fitness if you choose, time with girlfriends, and of course wine. We chatted recently to go over all the details. We were trying to find a time to record this quickly so we could get that information out as soon as possible to people.

[00:00:58] We're filling up fast and we don't want to leave anyone out. No wino left behind. Well, you know what happens when you rush. Sometimes you make mistakes, and that's okay. Those blips and twists in the road can sometimes lead to very positive outcomes. I call them happy accidents, and they can also be a little reminder to slow down to speed up and maybe have a glass of wine or a shot of tequila.

[00:01:23] Here is Robin Hackney, All Things Wine Camp 2025, and a few other bonus nuggets, so to speak.

[00:01:32] Hello,

[00:01:33] Robin Hackney: penny. Hello. How are you this morning? I'm good. How are you? I'm doing well. I feel bad that I messed up the call

[00:01:42] Penny Fitzgerald: yesterday. No worries. I. Things like that. I feel like are for a reason and might be a happy accident. So,

[00:01:52] yeah,

[00:01:54] Penny Fitzgerald: because I, it gave me the opportunity to repurpose some, um, like part of a training that I did for us that kind of fit in with what like last week's episode was with Lydia.

[00:02:07] And she was talking about, um, finding your superpower or using your superpower. And then I used part of one of my trainings about finding your superpower to be, so I think it, I think it flowed with, it was good. Okay.

[00:02:21] Robin Hackney: Yeah. Okay. Good. I like that. And the other thing that I was going to tell you is if this would have been, I don't maybe even.

[00:02:29] A year ago, I don't know, two years ago probably, and I did that. I would just be beating myself up and I would be like, oh my gosh, I'm so mad at myself. Yeah, I let Penny down, da da da, dah. But I was able just to be like, okay, yep, I screwed up and there's nothing I can do about it now. So there you go. It's okay.

[00:02:46] Its gonna be fine. Yeah, I, yeah,

[00:02:47] Penny Fitzgerald: I knew you were, I felt like you were probably. not feeling good about it. And I know you were trying to figure out a plan B, but no, just slow down the speed up.

[00:03:03] Robin Hackney: There we go. There we go. So how was the, how was the happy hour? It was good. It was really good. It was the first time that Dave had met him in person because he lives in Louisiana, so it's his new boss.

[00:03:18] And, um, yeah, I think it went really well and I feel like the company as a whole, they're just kind of. getting their poop in a group. They're making it happen now. Like, I feel like they were just so distracted and yeah, so I feel like good changes are happening. Yeah. Oh, that's fun. I've never heard that phrase.

[00:03:37] I like it. Yeah. Your turds in a herd, poop in a group, you know.

[00:03:44] Penny Fitzgerald: I love it. I've, you know, ducks in a row, but that's not nearly as fun. Right. Yeah. Yeah. It's

[00:03:54] That's really, that's so good that you were able to get rid of all of the stuff on your mind and yeah. Be present there. That's fun. Yes. No, I assumed it was like a company banquet or something. .

[00:04:08] Robin Hackney: Oh, no. Uhuh. Nope. Nope. He was just in town, so yeah.

[00:04:11] Penny Fitzgerald: Cool.

[00:04:13] Robin Hackney: Yeah. Awesome. ,

[00:04:16] Penny Fitzgerald: I might include, include some of that.

[00:04:18] Let's wine camp.

[00:04:18] Robin Hackney: Open a group. Love that. Yeah, I know you can use it. Yeah. It's not mine, so. Okay. , I mean, you could say get your together, but yeah. Poop in a group is a little more kind. It's

[00:04:30] Penny Fitzgerald: a, it's

[00:04:30] Robin Hackney: a little fluffier. Yeah. Mm-Hmm. . Yeah.

[00:04:38] Penny Fitzgerald: All right. Let's talk wine

[00:04:39] Robin Hackney: camp.

[00:04:39] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. How fun.

[00:04:41] Robin Hackney: Oh my God. People are so excited. Me too. Yes. Yeah. And what are we like seven or eight months away? And it's going to go by so fast.

[00:04:50] Penny Fitzgerald: It is going to go by super fast. Yeah. July 24th through the 26th in Virginia wine country, um, near Charlottesville. Oh my gosh. The place we've got Mount Ida resort.

[00:05:03] Robin Hackney: It's gorgeous. It is absolutely gorgeous. And, um, the homes are phenomenal and the landscape, um, they have a tasting room on site. So people can just hop over there if they want to. Roll back down the hill.

[00:05:24] Yeah, no, it's, it's going to be amazing. They've been so wonderful to work with. Um, so I think it's going to be all around a great experience.

[00:05:32] Penny Fitzgerald: Cool. Yeah. I'm super excited about our transportation company too. They seem very easygoing and like they're going to accommodate us really easily and work with our group.

[00:05:42] So yeah, it'll be super fun.

[00:05:45] Robin Hackney: Yes. Yeah. And I like that we're offering some different types of classes too and some breakout sessions and I think that's going to, that's going to charge people up as well.

[00:05:55] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. I was, I was talking about what we're doing, um, with my sassy sisters group. And the question that came up for some of them was, if we choose not, can, can we just drink instead?

[00:06:09] Said, absolutely. We're yeah, there's a tasting room on property. There are several nearby.

[00:06:16] Robin Hackney: Yeah. I should see when the tasting rooms open. I just pulled up their site, but. I mean, surely it's open like

[00:06:21] Penny Fitzgerald: at 10 or 11. I would guess. I would guess 10. Probably that's pretty normal in the industry. So, but yeah, I shouldn't speak because it's not my thing.

[00:06:30] It's not my tasting room. Maybe they'd open for us.

[00:06:36] Robin Hackney: Maybe, or we can just create our own. Yes, yes we do. Yes, I mean we can do breakfast

[00:06:44] Penny Fitzgerald: pairings, hello? Yes, breakfast of champions with a little Prosecco and orange juice or There you go, or Prosecco. Our Prosecco and wave the orange juice on over the top of

[00:06:56] Robin Hackney: it

[00:06:57] Penny Fitzgerald: and

[00:06:57] Robin Hackney: yeah, yeah, just bless it with the orange juice.

[00:07:00] Yes. And also with you. I like that. I like that. Well, and I'm excited too that.

[00:07:06] we decided to extend the payment to November 30th because I think that helps a lot of people out. So

[00:07:13] Penny Fitzgerald: yeah, absolutely. Cause um, Thanksgiving will be right before that and you can chat with your family and say, let's go. Join us.

[00:07:21] Robin Hackney: Yes, for sure. I mean, we don't have that many spots left, so I'm excited about that too. Yes.

[00:07:30] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes.

[00:07:30] Robin Hackney: We do have the option of expanding a little bit, but yep, I would love to have a wait

[00:07:36] Penny Fitzgerald: list. I mean, we're, we're at, um, we're nearly nearing capacity for what the homes that we've reserved so far and once we have that filled, then we'll wait list people.

[00:07:48] Until we get another home filled.

[00:07:51] Robin Hackney: Right, right. Yes. Yeah. So for those of you that Need a little refresher on the payments. So by November 30th, if you're paying in full, it's 749 Originally, we had talked about the 699 So if some of you if you're like a little confused what we decided to do was add lodging and meals So for another 50, you're going to get all your meals and your lodging.

[00:08:17] That's just crazy to me. I think that's fantastic. And then if you need a payment plan, we'll, we'll do 400 on November 30th and then another 400 in January.

[00:08:28] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. Wow. So exciting yet. And to think that it's a beautiful resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains for that. I mean, you get yourself there.

[00:08:40] That's pretty much it, you know, and you might want to think about staying late or, you know, staying in Charlottesville for a day or whatever, you know, be at the beginning or the end so that you can experience more of the area. Cause it's gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful.

[00:08:55] Robin Hackney: Yeah. Yeah. And I'm going to give everyone a heads up that you need to make sure that you are ready when we are there to pull the trigger on 2026, because all of those that were here for 2024 get the VIP experience and they get an extra night.

[00:09:13] Oh, I was hoping you'd bring that up.

[00:09:15] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes!

[00:09:16] Robin Hackney: Extra

[00:09:17] Penny Fitzgerald: night for free, right? For free. Yes. VIPs. Yep. Yeah. And if you're not sure

[00:09:23] Robin Hackney: if you're a VIP or not, just, just reach out to one of us and we'll let you know.

[00:09:27] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. Yeah. We'll be communicating that with you guys too. So, oh wow. That's so exciting. It is very exciting.

[00:09:36] Yeah, it's going to be wonderful. Yes. Who's going to have Prosecco with me?

[00:09:42] Robin Hackney: Yep. Count me in. Yes, please. Just always count me in. Yeah.

[00:09:48] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes, absolutely.

[00:09:51] Robin Hackney: Okay, Penny. So what else do we need to go over, um, with what's included and what's not included?

[00:09:57] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Well, maybe we should just talk about the overall, like the big picture agenda, like what happens, how it works.

[00:10:03] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we show up, we'll start everything off, um, Thursday for happy hour because Natch. So yeah, we'll meet, you just have to get to Mount Ida resort. So fly into Charlottesville Airport, which, and the call letters are C H O. That's the airport, the closest airport. Richmond's not too far. It's about an hour, but Charlottesville is the closest.

[00:10:29] So if you can get to C H O, that's the best. And then get yourself to Mount Ida. Uh, by happy hour on Thursday, or if you're a VIP by, you know, Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday, and then join us for happy hour. So, and then, um, you want to talk a little bit about Friday, what we start out the every day or what we'll start out Friday doing.

[00:10:52] Yeah.

[00:10:53] Robin Hackney: Yeah. So Friday we will have a fitness class in the beginning of the day. Um, you know, we're still talking about some options. I kind of want to see who all is interested in what before we put all that out there. And then we are going to do a winery tour similar to what we did this past year. We'll have a transportation company come and get us.

[00:11:14] No one has to worry about drinking and driving. Um, so we are going to go and we're going to taste some new wines in Virginia wine country.

[00:11:23] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. Some award winning wine. They're, they're really, there, there are a lot of wineries up there and we're going to choose the very best. So come, um, pro tip, pack a bigger suitcase than you need and put some bubble wrap in it so that you can bring home some bottles.

[00:11:42] Um, you'll want to, uh, uh, That's a pro. Pro tip from a wino. Yes. Yes. So yeah, we'll do some tasting and then um, Friday night, it's going to be a little bit more free, free flowing

[00:11:57] Robin Hackney: as the wine will be. That's right. Right. And we have some group activities, you know, planned as well. We don't want to give all of our secrets and surprises out, but it will be fun.

[00:12:08] Um, and we will let You guys know what extra things you need to pack besides your bubble wrap and extra space. Um, so we'll, we'll let you know. So you're prepared for the festivities on Friday and Saturday.

[00:12:21] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. Okay. And then Saturday, what's, what can we expect?

[00:12:26] Robin Hackney: We'll start the day with another fitness class.

[00:12:28] Again, it's optional. All right. And then we have breakout sessions. So my breakout sessions will be more on the fitness side. And then Penny is going to focus more on manifesting visualization, um, how to put all that into action. And you're going to have the opportunity. Yeah,

[00:12:51] Penny Fitzgerald: I think we can structure it so that people are able to, you know, do a little bit of this, a little bit of that, whatever they like.

[00:12:57] Yeah. Or go taste wine.

[00:13:01] Robin Hackney: There is no judgment. Like if you decide to skip class, we understand.

[00:13:06] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Yeah. Or bring your bubbles in as long as you share with the teacher. Yes,

[00:13:13] Robin Hackney: yes. And then, um, so then Saturday, we, Saturday evening, we are going to have Wine Stock because it is peace, love, wine. You're not going to want to miss that epic party.

[00:13:25] Groovy. Yeah.

[00:13:28] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. Yes. It's going to be so fun. I can't wait. Um, our hoedown this year was amazing and I'm sure it'll even be better this year because we'll have more

[00:13:39] Robin Hackney: people. Yeah. More friends. Yes. And I didn't tell you, Penny, tomorrow Dave and I are leaving. We're going down to Austin and we're staying at Dave Love's place.

[00:13:49] Um, but I was thinking about different things that we could do and I'm like, he would love the buggy barn. Yes. Yeah. Kind of go through the museum and all the places. That was so cool.

[00:13:59] Penny Fitzgerald: That was very fun. Say hi to Paula.

[00:14:01] Robin Hackney: Give her a hug. We'll do.

[00:14:03] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah, we'll do.

[00:14:05] Robin Hackney: Hopefully she's not like stealing a microwave or something.

[00:14:09] Penny Fitzgerald: Had to be there. If you know, you know. Right. Looking at you, Joanne.

[00:14:17] Oh my gosh. Yeah, it's a wine camp. You know, overall, I, I was asking some of my friends, you know, what was your favorite part? And There were so many things that were so fun, but I think spending the time with girlfriends and just getting to know each other on a better, bigger level and just, Oh, just having that release and being away with the girls and having a relaxing and fun and invigorating all at the same time kind of weekend.

[00:14:46] Yeah.

[00:14:47] Robin Hackney: Yeah. And the older I get, the more I appreciate that. Same. Like a lot of people, you know, a lot of people, they've always had like girls. weekends or things like that. And it was important for them to get away from the kids and all that. Um, which I get that too, but I just feel like it's at a different level now that the age I'm at.

[00:15:04] And as I get older, I can just appreciate women in general and just appreciate the conversations and the time and being present in that moment with those people. Yes, absolutely. and what I can learn from

[00:15:20] Penny Fitzgerald: them. Yes. Oh my gosh. I, yeah, the older I get to the more how I realize how brilliant my girlfriends are and just to the, the amount of wisdom in the room.

[00:15:35] Yeah. Yeah. And support everyone. So I was going to say support.

[00:15:40] Robin Hackney: Yeah. I was going to say support and love because it's just, just helping the next girl out or just letting her know that you're right there. There's nothing better than that. That's right. Oh, it's so cool. It is cool. And knowing that you're going to walk away with new friends.

[00:15:55] Penny Fitzgerald: Mm hmm.

[00:15:56] Robin Hackney: Experiences we'll be talking about for years.

[00:15:59] Penny Fitzgerald: Priceless. Yes. Exactly. Exactly.

[00:16:01] Robin Hackney: Yeah. Yeah. I can't wait. I can't wait

[00:16:05] Penny Fitzgerald: either.

[00:16:06] Robin Hackney: Oh my gosh. So fun.

[00:16:08] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah.

[00:16:10] Robin Hackney: And Penny and I have already talked about 2026. I mean, the great ideas are flying around.

[00:16:15] Penny Fitzgerald: Might even say they're flowing. Just

[00:16:19] Robin Hackney: like wine. Like what you did there.

[00:16:21] Mm hmm.

[00:16:26] Oh, gosh, Penny. Um, okay, so I'm trying to think if there's anything else we need to let everyone know. I don't think so, except make sure that you're in our Wine Camp 2025 group so that we can start posting there Well, so people have the links to pay. They have the information. Um, that's exactly, that's a Facebook

[00:16:47] Penny Fitzgerald: group.

[00:16:47] It's public group and you'll know it by the VW bus. Peace, love, wine, the sign that our banner is all about peace, love, wine. It's kind of orange and pink and beautiful, uh, seventies style stuff. So look for that. Um, Wine Camp 2025. You can also get some more information and sign up at PennyForYourShots. com.

[00:17:13] It's just my website all spelled out. PennyForYourShots. com forward slash Wine Camp 2025. So go there to get some more information and sign up and take you to the payment page if you're ready and away we go.

[00:17:28] Robin Hackney: Yeah. Yeah. And we'll make sure we put that in the group too. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Awesome. Well, have you started on your, um, costume for WineStock?

[00:17:40] I've been,

[00:17:41] Penny Fitzgerald: um, keeping my eyes peeled when I go to Goodwill because I am a Goodwill hunter. I like it. So yeah, I keep my eyes on the prize. So yeah, it's not too early to start scoping out your local thrift shop, thrift stores. Yeah.

[00:17:58] Robin Hackney: Yes. I need to do that too. I haven't started. Um, I guess I need to get past Christmas first in my mind.

[00:18:04] Penny Fitzgerald: Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The important thing is we have our spots because one can't, can't, one can't, can't happen without us. So that's good. That's right. Can't happen without you too. So get your spot and then start Then go to Christmas and then worry about your costume. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:18:23] Robin Hackney: Or ask for your costume for Christmas.

[00:18:25] I don't know. There you go.

[00:18:30] Uh, all right. I'm trying to think if there's anything else. I know. Are we forgetting anything? Oh, the other thing that we'll make sure that we put in our Facebook group, um, and as we email people and text people and let them know when flights are going to be coming in. So then maybe you can share an Uber or a group if you wanted to rent a car together.

[00:18:55] Um, and then on the VIP ladies. You're going to want to know that you can come in on Wednesday and then meals don't start until Thursday though. Oh, so that is a great time like that Thursday like come in Wednesday, like maybe afternoon. Grab a couple bottles of wine come on over and then on Thursday.

[00:19:17] It's another opportunity for you to explore some of the other wineries that we aren't going to and we will let you know the wineries that we will be visiting on Friday so that you don't double up.

[00:19:28] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Fantastic. Yeah.

[00:19:34] Yeah. If you guys have questions that we didn't cover in this, reach out to either one of us or on the Facebook page or you know, shoot us an email. Um, I'm just Penny at penny for your shots.com. Penny at penny for your shots.com. And Robin, your what's your I prefer info email@spandexandwine.com. Okay.

[00:19:54] Info at Spandex and wine. And that's all spelled out right? Spandex and wine? Yeah. Excellent. It is. Thank you. Yay. All right. Well, always good to see you, Penny. Well, you too. Anything else you want to talk about?

[00:20:11] Robin Hackney: Ooh. Oh boy. Okay. Loaded question. Yeah. Okay. Oh, there she is. Had to get a drink. Okay. So Dave's off this week and he was going to be hunting.

[00:20:27] Great. I'm all for that. Okay. That's wonderful. Good Accept that. So Penny, I get up early, you know that. Uh huh. And so he was on Tuesday. He said, Oh, I'm going to get up at 4:30. So it was just 15 minutes early for me, which that's fine. I was fine with that. Except he didn't go. He woke up and I got home that morning after teaching my classes.

[00:20:51] And I look around, I'm like, he drank coffee. He made eggs and then I checked the ring. He didn't leave until 8 in the morning. He went back to bed like son of a gun and then he did the same thing this morning. I'm like, don't you make me get up early and then you don't go. No. So I think I need to find like a hunting cabin or something that he needs to go to.

[00:21:13] Penny Fitzgerald: There you go. have a little come to Jesus cabin.

[00:21:17] Robin Hackney: Yes.

[00:21:17] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah.

[00:21:18] Robin Hackney: Cause you're not going to leave from here.

[00:21:21] Penny Fitzgerald: Oh my God. Okay. So that is squirrely early. Oh yeah. So with the

[00:21:28] Robin Hackney: time change, I guess, did it help it or did it make it worse? I don't remember. I think it made it worse. Yeah. It made it worse.

[00:21:38] Penny Fitzgerald: Dang. You know, that's, I usually can sleep through things.

[00:21:45] It depends. I love that about you. I go through phases and if I've got my earbuds in, which I often do when I sleep, I don't hear a thing. But when I don't and the alarm goes off and Jeff hits the snooze.

[00:22:05] Robin Hackney: Yes, I'm with you on that. No. All you snoozy people out there. I don't understand it. Why not set the alarm for when you need to get up? Well,

[00:22:14] Penny Fitzgerald: I used to be that girl. Oh. Mm hmm. Okay. And it took me a long time to figure out that that doesn't work. No.

[00:22:26] Robin Hackney: It's terrible because then you start to get back to sleep and then

[00:22:29] Penny Fitzgerald: it

[00:22:30] Robin Hackney: goes off

[00:22:31] Penny Fitzgerald: again.

[00:22:31] It's like six disappointments in a row. It's not gonna get any better. Just get up. Right.

[00:22:37] Robin Hackney: Right. We do not need that.

[00:22:40] Penny Fitzgerald: Set your alarm for, you know, the second to the last time you would have gotten up and then just get up and then you've got 10 extra minutes to do whatever you want. There you go. Novel thought.

[00:22:50] And you've slipped through what you would have all those disappointments. You don't want to start your day with all those disappointments.

[00:22:57] Robin Hackney: No, no, no. I've never understood the snooze people. Yeah, sorry if you're a snoozer. I,

[00:23:07] Penny Fitzgerald: yeah, I used, I used to.

[00:23:08] Mm.

[00:23:09] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Mm. And, well, the older I get to the, less I can get back to sleep if I've woken up.

[00:23:17] Robin Hackney: Yes. Yes. Part of it. I'm a very light sleeper, so if, if I hear something, then I'm, then I'm up. Or if the alarm goes off, then I can't get back to sleep. I'm like, yeah. Yeah, those extra 15

[00:23:30] Penny Fitzgerald: minutes for you are big.

[00:23:32] Robin Hackney: I know, it really is. It doesn't sound like that much, but it is.

[00:23:35] Penny Fitzgerald: It is when you get up as early as you do.

[00:23:38] Robin Hackney: Yeah. I know there are people that get up earlier, so can't complain.

[00:23:46] Penny Fitzgerald: Look at you sleeping in over there.

[00:23:50] Robin Hackney: Okay. But the good news is like, I even said out loud this morning, driving to work, I'm like, I love what I do. I love the group of ladies that I'm going to see in 20 minutes. And it's, it's fabulous.

[00:24:02] That's a great way to start your day. I know, I know, I feel really fortunate.

[00:24:08] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah, me too. It makes it worth it. That's right. Yeah, find something you love to do and

[00:24:14] Robin Hackney: do more of it. Yeah, I just need them all to retire here pretty soon, though, so we can push the class back a little later. I need to find out everyone's retirement plan.

[00:24:25] Yeah,

[00:24:29] Penny Fitzgerald: that's true. Yeah, I used to get up at the crack of dawn to go work out too, and that hasn't happened in a while. I

[00:24:38] Robin Hackney: know. It makes it so much easier when you, at least for me, when you get your workout done first thing in the morning. Exactly. off your list because the later you push it back, the less likely you are to do it.

[00:24:51] And I'm the exact same way. You would think that, Oh, you're a fitness person. You just work out all the time. Or that I'm like, no, like if I can get it in the morning, cause otherwise I'm like everybody else. I'm like, eh, do I really need to do that last set?

[00:25:05] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Well, and, and all these other things are going through your mind.

[00:25:08] Like I got to do this, this and this. And yeah, it's really easy to push the fitness piece off.

[00:25:15] Robin Hackney: Yeah. No, I know. I know

[00:25:17] Penny Fitzgerald: that I feel y'all. Yep. It's just that my day starts later than it used to when I was in a corporate job that I had to be there at eight o'clock for.

[00:25:26] Robin Hackney: That's so nice. There's no way I could go back to working for someone.

[00:25:32] Penny Fitzgerald:

[00:25:34] Robin Hackney: mean, I can't even, even imagine because I've thought in the past, I've thought, well, it's just so much easier if, if you work for someone else, you don't have all the stress of it. And I thought about it this week when Dave was on vacation. I'm like, why can't just take vacation and stay home? I'm not going to get paid.

[00:25:53] Um, which be so nice. But then I'm also like, no, I could not have, I couldn't do it. I couldn't sit behind a desk or I couldn't be confined. Like I want to be able to go take a walk when it's a beautiful day. If I want to take a walk. Yeah.

[00:26:07] Penny Fitzgerald: Or when you need the walk for your mental health or for, you know, if something stressful is going on and to get, you need to think through things.

[00:26:14] Yes. Yeah. It's, it's a different set of stress when you're working for someone else. It's, you know, be in there when you need to be there. Well, I'm here when I need to be here, but when you're working for somebody else, it's like, okay, let's start the day at 7 55. You know, you're going home when it's dark and you're sitting there and confined, like you said, and yeah, that's stressful too.

[00:26:41] Robin Hackney: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there are stresses to both, you know, owning your own business, you know, we're always working.

[00:26:47] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Well, yeah, when you do something you love, it doesn't feel like work and Right. And some of the stuff that I do, honestly, I will eventually delegate. Yes. Yes. I can't wait for that. I know, me too.

[00:27:04] It's, and it's getting there. I can see it. I can see it coming, but you know, I'm, what I can't, Delegate, I'll automate what I can and then delegate the rest of the stuff that is, you know, not serving my people in a way that's, It's beneficial to both of us because it's like we were talking about when you're doing stuff in joy, when you're happy doing what you're doing, it just flows.

[00:27:28] You get in a rhythm and momentum and

[00:27:32] Robin Hackney: it

[00:27:32] Penny Fitzgerald: better serves

[00:27:33] Robin Hackney: your people. It better

[00:27:33] Penny Fitzgerald: serves

[00:27:34] Robin Hackney: you. Yeah. It's a good thing. No, I agree. I agree. Oh, and today I kind of treated myself. I treated my ladies too, but I had another instructor come in and teach a class. So I got to take the class.

[00:27:49] Penny Fitzgerald: Oh, how fun was

[00:27:50] Robin Hackney: that?

[00:27:51] Fabulous. It was fabulous. Yeah. Yeah. And today it was a yoga class that I had her come in and do. And it's just always good for people to hear someone else's perspective. You know, if you're used to the same teacher all the time, we might be saying the same things, but you hear it different from somebody else.

[00:28:10] So that's good. And then just, you know, cueing is different. You get used to. Like I, I, I tease them. You, you, you speak Robin. You know what I'm going to say, you know, even though I try and, you know, change it up and make it interesting, but yeah. And it was just such a treat for me to be able to understand.

[00:28:30] Penny Fitzgerald: Okay. But. from her perspective, was she nervous to have you in her class?

[00:28:36] Robin Hackney: You know what? I did. I did think about that at one point, but I'm like, okay, I'm not going to worry about that. Hopefully she's not nervous. I don't know if she was or not. She didn't act like she was. Um, so hopefully not, but, um, yeah, no, it was, it was wonderful.

[00:28:50] Penny Fitzgerald: Oh, wow. Good for you.

[00:28:54] Robin Hackney: Thanks. I want to do that more often for them and for me. Right.

[00:29:01] Penny Fitzgerald: Right. Cause yeah, that would just. So freeing, I would think.

[00:29:06] Robin Hackney: Yeah.

[00:29:09] Penny Fitzgerald: Very nice. Okay, so I have a, uh, sort of a testimonial for you. Okay, what? Well, I've been taking your challenge, your healthy, what do you, what, healthy body challenge?

[00:29:22] That's your, okay. So, and it's just encompassing little changes or little habits that we, that we you know, keep us going on the right path and fitness mental and physical and all the things, all the good daily habits that you do. I think I've lost seven pounds. Penny, that is amazing. I love that. I say, I think, because I don't want to get my hopes up just yet.

[00:29:50] Okay.

[00:29:53] Robin Hackney: Oh my gosh, I love that. And the intention, as I told you in the beginning of this, you know, 11 years ago when I started this, cause I do it in the fall, um, you know, the goal was for us to not gain weight over the holidays and people lost weight. And, you know, I made sure that I said in the beginning, this is not about weight loss.

[00:30:12] This is about building healthy habits that you can extend the rest of your life. And when we do it slowly, they tend to stick more. So it's okay. If you're still back in week one and we're on week four, and we're focusing on something else, you take it to where you need to take it. And if you decide you're just going to gather all the information and do one healthy habit in 2025 a month.

[00:30:34] Fantastic. I love that. I love that for you. But the fact that you lost weight is amazing. That's so, so wonderful.

[00:30:43] Penny Fitzgerald: I feel so much better already. Yeah. It's just, you know, it is a lot easier in Florida. I feel like because, well, a couple of different things, I get out and walk more and move, move more. And I, I, um, have access to, well, we do in Iowa too.

[00:31:03] We have access to good food, but like fish down here, you know, you can get fresh fish and vegetables that are grown, you know, at this time of year where our garden in Iowa is frozen. Yeah, except for the cabbage. The cabbage will not quit the cabbage. Yeah. Jeff was telling me. Yeah, we've got some lots of cabbage that is just going crazy.

[00:31:29] So I know what we'll be eating when I get back there.

[00:31:33] Robin Hackney: Oh, my gosh. Okay. That reminds me. Um, I don't know why Dave at this point in our life, he was trying to lose weight because I mean, when we got married, he was 150 pounds skinny. I know, I know. Um, but we were in our first house. So it was had to been in the first few years of our marriage.

[00:31:53] And he went on a cabbage diet. All I remember

[00:31:56] Penny Fitzgerald: that. Oh no.

[00:31:58] Robin Hackney: The house smelled so bad. Oh my gosh. Who thought of that? I don't know. And I don't, I mean, seriously, was it all just about fiber and flushing everything out? It had to have been.

[00:32:08] Penny Fitzgerald: Must have been. It can't be healthy.

[00:32:10] Robin Hackney: It's not healthy. That

[00:32:10] Penny Fitzgerald: soup was really good, but not if you eat it every meal for a week.

[00:32:15] All the time. I don't remember how

[00:32:17] Robin Hackney: long he lasted, but oh my gosh, it was awful. I tried it too back in the day. Okay. Okay. All right. Now we know better. Yeah.

[00:32:29] Penny Fitzgerald: When you know better, you do better. No. No hitting the snooze. No fad diets.

[00:32:37] Robin Hackney: Right. That's right. Just ask us. We'll tell you. We're so wise people.

[00:32:47] Oh gosh. Oh gosh. Yeah. Well, congratulations on your seven pounds. I'm super excited about that. The other thing I'm hearing people say, speaking of fiber is they're like, Um, I've never pooped as much. I didn't know you could poop every day. I'm like, yeah, sure. Can and should. That's a good goal. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:33:11] Let's get rid of those toxins. How about that?

[00:33:14] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. You know one thing that shocks me, um, one of the first habits that you instill is Water intake. And what's the amount of the number of ounces that you suggest or that you have put as a minimum threshold? Okay,

[00:33:28] Robin Hackney: I only said 48. I only said 48. Um, you know, a lot of people will say 64.

[00:33:34] I feel like it also depends on your diet because if you're eating lots of fruits and vegetables, those are mostly water. I feel like 48 is doable for people. Okay. And some people are focusing on 20 right now. Wow, that

[00:33:48] Penny Fitzgerald: shocks me. Yeah, that, that shocks me. And I tell you why, because especially down here, I feel like I can't get enough water.

[00:33:55] Almost. I, I drink a minimum and this is not including my coffee or my wine. I drink a minimum of a hundred and something like just over a hundred ounces a day and some days a hundred and thirty. Yeah. So I kind of wondered, am I drinking too much

[00:34:15] Robin Hackney: water?

[00:34:16] Penny Fitzgerald: But I don't think

[00:34:17] Robin Hackney: so. If your body feels right with it, then go with it.

[00:34:20] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Yeah. I, another thing that, okay, so this is maybe TMI, but like nothing else we talk about is like that. Right. Um, I have eye pain in the middle of the night sometimes. And I, I remember you saying that. Yes. It wakes me up. My, and my eye doctor, um, thought it could be dehydration and then that's kind of common as we get older and wow.

[00:34:49] Well, since we've been doing this challenge, I haven't had it. And I know, so I'm tracking my water and making sure I get that hundred. Well, the other day I had a super, super busy day. I was running from networking event to networking event, had some other things happening. So I was not able to get my water in like normal.

[00:35:11] So it was maybe half that. I might have been at that 48 level mark that night. I woke up three times. Oh my gosh.

[00:35:20] Robin Hackney: Yeah.

[00:35:20] Penny Fitzgerald: Okay. Yeah. So I think the hundred ounce is really helping my overall hydration and feeling, feeling better. Good for you. Good

[00:35:32] Robin Hackney: for you. Yeah. And I like when, when people have those moments too, where you like fall off the wagon for a little bit and then you realize, Oh, what I was doing really was working.

[00:35:42] Yeah.

[00:35:43] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Pretty obvious when it's that big a thing. Yeah. Oh, I love that

[00:35:48] for you. Look at you.

[00:35:50] Robin Hackney: I know. Yeah. 2025 is going to rock. Sure is. Oh, this has been so fun. It has been fun. It always is.

[00:36:05] Yeah.

[00:36:08] Penny Fitzgerald: Are we forgetting anything?

[00:36:11] Robin Hackney: I don't think so. I think we covered quite a bit. Yeah, we did.

[00:36:16] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah, it's like going to Costco. You always come home with more stuff than you thought. Right.

[00:36:22] Robin Hackney: And if you guys enjoyed this conversation, then you need to make sure you sign up for Wine Camp because you're gonna miss a whole lot more.

[00:36:31] And what happens at Wine Camp stays at Wine Camp, people.

[00:36:34] Penny Fitzgerald: Some, mostly. Most of it, yeah. Yeah, ask

[00:36:40] Robin Hackney: us about the microwave later. Right. Although I think there are pictures in the Wine Camp 2025 group. Yeah. Yeah, that was pretty sure. Yeah, it was funny. Okay.

[00:36:55] Penny Fitzgerald: Whoa, where did she come from? She's had tequila. Yeah, Tequila Penny might be the best penny, I'm not sure.

[00:37:09] Robin Hackney: Well, I mean, we should probably research. We still have to do our episode. Oh, that's right. I forgot that we were going to do that.

[00:37:18] Should

[00:37:18] Penny Fitzgerald: have done that in Texas. Dang it. Okay. Oh, we'll do it. We'll do it sometime here. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:37:26] Robin Hackney: Awesome. We could do the, um, 12 Days of Tequila. Oh, I

[00:37:34] Penny Fitzgerald: love that idea. I mean, why not kinds of tequila and we can just, you know,

[00:37:40] Robin Hackney: and recipes though, too. Like I had a cranberry, what was it called? Cranberry something, uh, Margarita when we were away this past weekend.

[00:37:48] And it was so tasty. I feel like there's so many tequila, so versatile.

[00:37:53] Penny Fitzgerald: Yes. Yes. It's unique too. It has that herbal kind of, I love the, yeah. I

[00:38:05] Robin Hackney: like that. Let's do it. Let's do a collaboration and. Like put together a little advent calendar and do a different reel every day. I love that. Like we're pulling something out and it shows the picture of our margarita or something.

[00:38:20] Or not margarita, our drink, whatever it is. Yeah. Or whatever tequila we're featuring. Yes. Surely we have time to do that.

[00:38:28] Penny Fitzgerald: Yeah. Cause, uh, that would be,

[00:38:31] Robin Hackney: yeah. Some people say the 12 days of Christmas are the first to the 12th and some say the 12th up to the 25th.

[00:38:39] Okay.

[00:38:41] Robin Hackney: I feel like we can make it whatever we want.

[00:38:43] Penny Fitzgerald: We can make it the 20 days of Christmas. Or the 10 days of Christmas, or the whatever, yes. Yeah. Okay.

[00:38:53] Robin Hackney: We have the power. We do. Alright, let's think on that. I think that's good.

[00:38:59] Penny Fitzgerald: Okay. I love it. Yeah, me too.

[00:39:02] Robin Hackney:

[00:39:03] Penny Fitzgerald: might pull these last, like, three minutes out and put them in my next episode as a teaser.

[00:39:08] Robin Hackney: Okay. Teaser. Like it. Love it.

[00:39:12] Penny Fitzgerald: Okay.

[00:39:12] Robin Hackney: All right. Cool. You have

[00:39:15] Penny Fitzgerald: a wonderful rest

[00:39:16] Robin Hackney: of your day. Well, you too. Thank you.
