Speaker 1:

Welcome to Podcast Suck. A podcast about starting a podcast where we dive headfirst into the wild, wacky and sometimes frustrating world of podcasting. If you've ever sat down with a microphone, hit record and thought what on earth am I doing? Or if you're just curious about the magic behind your favorite shows, then you're in the right place. Get ready for laughs, insights and a whole lot of what not to do advice as we embark on this podcasting journey together. Let's dive in what's happening. Everybody. Welcome back to another episode. Hey, thanks so much for taking some time out of your day to hang out with me for a few minutes. There's a lot of other things you could be doing. You decided to spend a few minutes with me. It means a lot to me. Hope you're going to leave this episode knowing at least one or two things that you did not know, that you did not know about the power of podcasting.

Speaker 1:

Yesterday was the 4th of July here in the United States. For those of you that may not be in the US of A, it's a great holiday. It signifies our nation's birthday, our nation's history, signifies the years have over. It also is a great reminder Of the beautiful freedom that we've been given In this beautiful country for those that have come before us. So it's a little bit of reflection, a little bit of celebration. My Cubs won big eight home runs at Wrigley Field yesterday, a franchise record. I don't want to speak out of turn, but we may be headed to the big game. But that's not what I want to talk to you about today. I want to talk to you about what the 4th of July and starting a podcast to grow your business have in common. The very first thing and the focal point of this holiday and this topic is freedom. Freedom from fighting over algorithms that hate you. Freedom from trying to go viral dancing in your kitchen I've never done that. Freedom from spammy, cold DMs that scream I'm desperate. I'm desperate for your business. Nobody wants desperation. Podcasting gives you the same fireworks, that same firework moment that your business needs. Let me say that again Podcasting gives you the same fireworks moment your business needs.

Speaker 1:

Where you control the mic, you control the message and the momentum. There's not a lot of stuff out there where you can control all three, can control all three. Now, when I say control the mic, it's somewhat of a metaphor, if you will. You're in control of what you're saying into that microphone, and then the message the message you're creating, the value that you're putting out to your listeners, and then the momentum the podcast creates. So if you're leveraging your podcast for your business which you should to grow your business the momentum comes with having conversations with people that you want to build a relationship with. The momentum comes from recording an episode every single week. The momentum comes from making it a non-negotiable.

Speaker 1:

I know I'm beating the momentum drum a bit here, but momentum is a fickle thing. It can show up in one minute and disappear in the very next. I come from the school of thought, based on my 46 years on this planet, I always tell myself momentum doesn't last. So when you get it, leverage it and run with it. Momentum leads to freedom, just like our founding fathers probably said give me liberty or give me downloads. We all know that's probably not true, because downloads weren't even a word back then. But come on, I'm a comedian. Can you laugh a little bit with me? Imagine give me liberty or give me downloads. So here's what I want you to do. Here's what I want to encourage you to do. Here's what I want to invite you to do. Stop waiting for permission. Declare your independence from invisible marketing. Start the podcast, own your space, light up your sales Pun intended, get it Fourth of July Fireworks, light up your sales, but it literally does.

Speaker 1:

I interview people all the time. If I get into a new mastermind group or I'm the new person in the group or community, I start inviting people on my podcast. I get to know them. I figured out how I can help them and then I ask them when they're going to start a podcast and I convert them into agency clients. But it all starts with a podcast episode. It all starts with a podcast invitation, an invitation to say, hey Bill, podcast invitation. An invitation to say, hey Bill, hey Maria, hey Jim, I'd love to have you on the podcast. I'd love to tell your story. Let me know if you're open to that. Listen, unless someone's completely delusional and so far inside their head about being in front of a camera or a microphone they're going to say to say, absolutely, I'd love to be on your podcast. So leverage that.

Speaker 1:

So when we think this year's fourth of july has come and gone, as we still reflect on it, it fell on a friday, so it's kind of fourth of july. I really don't know what day it is, even though I know it's, my calendar says it's Saturday, so I believe that. But as we reflect on the freedom, what kind of freedom are you looking for in your life? What kind of freedom are you looking for in your business? That's true success, in my opinion. Freedom that's true success in my opinion. Freedom being able to do what you want, when you want, where you want, with who you want, how you want. It's not about a dollar amount. It's about creating a life and a business. I come from the school of thought I'm going to build my business around my life. I'm not going to build my life around my business. My business doesn't run the show. I do. That's freedom.

Speaker 1:

Friends, I hope you're leaving this episode knowing at least one or two things that you did not know about freedom, about the 4th of July, about our founding fathers in downloads, about what it means to really be free with your life, with your business. What could you do with that extra freedom, the extra time? That's what podcasting affords Getting in front of the right people that want to do business with you and that you want to do business with as well. Questions, thoughts, ideas, feedback on this episode or any episodes on the show. Please shoot me a DM.

Speaker 1:

I know that there's an opportunity to leave a voice memo on the podcast on our website. There's no way for me to actually reply to those messages. So if you're listening to this episode and you're the one that sent me a message and said you're ready to start a podcast, and just so you know everybody listening, there's always going to be a link in the description of the podcast episode. Whatever episode you're listening to, that you can click on and book a call. You can always book a call at podcastlaunchlabcom as well. Just shoot me a DM. All my calendar links are on my Instagram as well at podcast suck, but just a little housekeeping, because I can't figure out.

Speaker 1:

I don't even know why they had that stupid option to leave a voice note. I number one. I can't even listen to it. It's not a voice note, it's just transcribed. And when I hit, reached out to Buzzsprout, our podcast hosting provider. They're like you should read the reply on your next episode and, I guess, hope that that person's listening. So if you're listening to this, please shoot me a DM and go. That was me that tried the. That was the guinea pig for the podcast. Voice notes that aren't really voice notes that I can't the host can't actually reply to. So I appreciate you sending that message, but I'd love to connect with you further.

Speaker 1:

Anybody else thinking about starting a podcast? I'd love to chat with you about what's possible. There's a link on the description of this podcast episode, like I just mentioned, for you to go do just that. All right, I'm rambling, I'm going to get back to my 4th of July weekend, but I made a post about this yesterday on Instagram. Go read it, go check it out. It's me as a Simpson character in a bunch of 4th of July gear. Thanks again for taking time out of your day to hang out with me. I really appreciate it and I look forward done so already. Make sure you're subscribed to the show wherever you consume podcasts this way, with good updates as new episodes become available. If you feel so inclined, please leave us a review and share the show with someone you know should start a podcast or may already have one. And remember podcasts suck if you don't have one. Until next time, friends.
