It's a reality we all must face at one time or another:  the death of a loved one.  And whether it's expected or not, it can still be an emotionally charged time.  But when the death comes because they are incapacitated, and someone has had to make potentially end-of-life decisions, a completely different set of emotions settles in.  Encouraging folks to think about the kind of care they would or would not want if something were to happen that would render them incapacitated has been one of Dr. Ira Byock's missions throughout his 50-plus year career as an Emergency Room physician and Palliative Care specialist.  Alongside Roberta Geidner of Lebanon County's Aging Inspired Advance Care Coalition, Dr. Byock discusses advance care directives, and what we all must know.
