I Choose Wisdom
I Choose Wisdom gives you the opportunity to apply God's Word every day through personalized declarations from the book of Proverbs. By speaking God's truth OUT LOUD, you'll be empowered and strengthened to fight your spiritual battles as Jesus did - by quoting the Bible.
I Choose Wisdom
I Choose Wisdom - Proverbs 1:3
"To receive instruction in wise behavior and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity" Proverbs 1:3
I CHOOSE to receive instruction in wise behavior! I CHOOSE the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, justice, and integrity!
Proverbs 1, verse 3. "To receive instruction in wise behavior and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity.
Yesterday, we talked about asking for wisdom, discernment, and understanding as we dig into the knowledge of God's word.
Today's verse is focused on positioning ourselves to receive the instruction. To have the discipline of wise behavior. That our thoughts would be wise. That we'd have the discipline to be righteous, just, and have integrity.
But let's go back to what it means to be in the position to receive instruction.
What this doesn't mean is to have your spiritual ears plugged or to walk with a spiritual blindfold on.
We need to want to learn. We need to be teachable. Open to correction, not just in our mind, but our behavior as well.
Today's verse also says to have discipline of wise thoughts, righteousness, justice, and integrity. We can discipline our thoughts by taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, as it says in 2 Corinthians 10:5.
The discipline of righteousness...now the word righteousness does not mean we have to try and be perfect. Righteousness means to meet God's standard.
Romans 3:22 says that righteousness comes through faith in Jesus for all who believe and trust in him and acknowledge him as God's son.
When we're intentional about being wise with our thoughts and walk in the righteousness that God says we have when we believe in his son, we'll exercise justice and integrity as a result of that wisdom.
Are you ready to make some declarations? Before we do, let's review the verse for today. Proverbs 1:3 "To receive instruction in wise behavior and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity."
Now let's turn them into declarations and really make them our own.
I CHOOSE to receive instruction and wise behavior.
I CHOOSE the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, justice and integrity.
Let's pray.
Heavenly father. I want to be wise. I thank you for making the spirit of wisdom available to us when we ask. I ask Holy Spirit to help us learn what it means to have wise behavior. Help us to be disciplined in our minds and hold every thought captive to the obedience of you. Thank you that you have made us, righteous because we believe. Help us to walk with justice and integrity.
