Meanwhile, President Dina Boluarte received a significant salary increase to $10,000, amid rising poverty. 

In El Salvador, President Bukele's state of emergency has lasted over three years, with reports of human rights violations, including torture in prisons. 

Lastly, the MERCOSUR summit in Buenos Aires is concluding, with Brazil set to take over the presidency, and President Lula visiting former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who is under house arrest.
