Venezuela
On today's podcast, Venezuela's Acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, reported on the inflow of resources resulting from oil sales, which will be allocated to improving workers' incomes. During a presidential event, the Head of State explained that of the first five hundred million dollars expected, three hundred million dollars have already entered the country.
These initial flows will be channeled to supply the official foreign exchange market, stabilize the dollar, reduce inflationary pressures, and allow companies and individuals to access foreign currency through the banking system without triggering an increase of Bolivar influence.
Spain
Spain is experiencing a new railway tragedy after a commuter train on Tuesday night near Barcelona crashed into a retaining wall that had collapsed onto the trucks following heavy rainfall, leaving at least one dead and thirty seven injured.
This accident comes just two days after the collision between two high speed trains that left at least forty two dead and around three hundred injured with rescue operations still ongoing and a national mourning period declared as identification efforts and assistance to victims and families continue.
Chile
And in Chile, the far right president-elect Jose Antonio Kast, who will take office on March eleven, presented his new cabinet which includes two former lawyers of Augusto Pinochet, whose dictatorship left more than three thousand people assassinated and disappeared to head the ministries of defense and justice.
