00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:21.120 Starting at the 25th verse, here's what it says: A large crowd was following Jesus. 00:01:21.280 --> 00:01:24.560 It's a perfect pickup to what we talked about last week. 00:01:24.799 --> 00:01:30.159 We had large crowds that we've just connected with that now want to follow Jesus. 00:01:30.319 --> 00:01:33.120 And this large crowd was following Jesus. 00:01:33.280 --> 00:01:42.079 He turned around and said to them, if you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison. 00:01:42.400 --> 00:01:43.920 Dang, Jesus. 00:01:45.599 --> 00:02:02.879 I mean, your social media account just went up in the thousands, and your first thing you want to say to them is that you should hate everybody by comparison if they're standing next to me. 00:02:03.200 --> 00:02:08.479 Then he doesn't just leave it for your imagination, he actually lists the individuals off. 00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:27.919 Your father, happy Father's Day, and your mother, your wife, and your children, brothers and sisters, yes, even your own life. 00:02:28.719 --> 00:02:31.759 Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 00:02:32.000 --> 00:02:37.120 And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. 00:02:37.280 --> 00:02:40.000 But don't begin until you count the costs. 00:02:40.639 --> 00:02:47.439 For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 00:04:10.400 --> 00:04:25.759 I mean, just imagine hearing a sermon on discipleship, and he's telling you everything you must renounce and denounce, and now pronounce that Jesus Christ is Lord, and then in the same breath he says, salt is good for seasoning. 00:04:26.079 --> 00:04:34.399 I mean, we we we essentially turn from discipleship to the food network without any announcement. 00:04:35.600 --> 00:04:43.120 Salt is good for seasoning, seasoning, but if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again?
