Welcome back to Unleash your Inner Radiance. I'm Lisa, your transformation coach, best-selling author and real estate agent in the beautiful state of Minnesota. Today we are talking about something that holds so many of us back opportunity and the fear of taking chances, chances. Have you ever felt like an opportunity was right in front of you? So that opportunity is facing you right in the face, standing in front of you, you're looking right at it, but fear kept you frozen in place. Maybe you questioned whether you were ready, and I know that that stops a lot of us. Do I know enough about it? Am I smart enough? You know, some of us are just needing to know all the answers before we take that big step, you know. So if you're questioning yourself am I good enough, or how about if it's the right time? How about if it's the right time? Because a lot of people are like, oh, I want to step up and I really want to do that, but I need to learn this first. It's not the right time. How will I fit that into my schedule? I'm not good enough, I'm not smart enough, I'm not smart enough. Does any of that sound familiar? Because if it does, this episode is for you. So today I am going to challenge you to step through that open door, because beyond it is a life that you have been dreaming of.
Speaker 1:So let's dive in. Opportunities are everywhere. You don't always see the little miracles that are dropped in front of you. You don't always see the opportunities that are in front of you, and that is why I brought up the first part of this, because if you're not ready for an opportunity, you're not going to see it. If you don't have the mindset of whatever comes my way is meant for me, you're not going to see the opportunities and the miracles that are absolutely everywhere. So here's the catch Most people don't see them because they're too afraid to look. So that's the other caveat Either you're too afraid to look at the miracles that are in front of you and take the chances, or you're so busy that you don't see them, that you don't see them. Think about it. How many times have you seen someone else do something amazing and thought, wow, I wish I could do that. Maybe you've watched a friend start a business, take an incredible trip or make a really bold career move, mold, move and deep down. You knew you wanted something like that for yourself, but you hesitated because you always thought you weren't good enough or you didn't have the right smarts, or it just wasn't the time. But here's what I want you to know Opportunities don't wait for you to be ready. So take me, for instance. If you step if I step back right now.
Speaker 1:Where I'm at, I've written a chapter in a book that became a bestseller. Where I'm at, I've written a chapter in a book that became a bestseller. This past summer I started this podcast a little over two years I'm in my second year. If I hadn't just recorded that initial introduction podcast two years ago in August, I wouldn't be where I am today. If, when the opportunity came to me in May to write a chapter with 25 other women that was going to become a national bestseller, if I hadn't taken the opportunity at that point and decided that I'm as ready as I'll ever be, that opportunity would have passed me by.
Speaker 1:Where I'm going with this is now that I'm in the position that I'm in. I sit and I think about all the things that could have been right. I start to opportunities that were in front of me that at the time I didn't take. Now I probably didn't take them because one either I didn't see them, or I saw them and thought I have a fear of where this is going to go, so I'm not going to take it. But there's that unknown right. So do I have a fear of success or fear of failure Because I didn't take that opportunity?
Speaker 1:But where I know I messed up several times is I had opportunities right in front of me and I didn't take them. And now I'm like, oh, where would I be with that? Oh, where would I gone with that? And I think that had I taken those opportunities, my life would be totally different right now. Would I still be doing the same things that I'm doing? Maybe, maybe not, but I think that I bypassed many opportunities that were presented to me out of of fear Of either failure or success. So think about it. It's really up to you when they show up and when I say they show up, I mean opportunities it is up to you to decide whether to take them or let them pass by. But I want you to be in the present so that you see the opportunities, so that you can make the uniform decision of, hey, this is an opportunity that's going to do this for me and I need to take that chance, or no. That's not a right one for me, instead of going through life and not even seeing the opportunities and the miracles in front of you.
Speaker 1:So when I stepped into real estate, I really doubted myself because I was like you know, I love houses but, right, I wasn't sure I had the skills and sometimes, you know, I still have that problem. But I didn't have the network or the confidence. But guess what? I still said yes and five years later, I'm still doing it. Right? The podcast I'm in my second season. I said yes. I literally recorded my intro podcast episode 22 times before I posted the first one, and so it was like you know, I did that. I decided after 22 times I was going to just say I'm putting this out to the universe. And here you go, I'm putting this opportunity for myself out there. Opportunities will stretch you, they will stress you out, but guess what? They will also elevate you, because in coaching you become a better person. You elevate with each person that comes to you. My podcast do you know what I've learned from people who I've had on my podcast episodes? It's been absolutely life-changing. It's actually the best experience I could have ever had.
Speaker 1:So, writing the book oh my God, I was terrified. Who's going to read something that I wrote right? Who's going to do that? But I still took the chance because it's something that I wanted to do but I didn't know how to do it. It was an opportunity. I can write a chapter. I'm only writing a chapter instead of a book that's going to fail right or a book that's going to be successful. I'm writing a chapter in a book, not knowing that it was going to go to number one, but I still wanted to test out how I write and test out my skills, because I knew I had them. But I didn't let fear stop me from doing it.
Speaker 1:So fear is really why we hesitate, because fear is the number one reason People let opportunities slip through their fingers. And, let's be honest, fear is very powerful because you have the fear of failure. What if I mess up? What if I fail? Fear of judgment. What will people say? Really, why is she doing that? Why does she think she can do that, doing that? Why does she think she can do that? Or how about fear of success? What if I can't handle it? What if, for some reason, my podcast brings me success? It brings me coaching clients, it brings me stages to speak on. What if that happens? Stages to speak on what if that happens, what if I fail? What if I'm not smart enough?
Speaker 1:But here's the truth Fear is literally just an excitement without breath, because a lot of times when you fear something, you fear an opportunity. You actually fear the end result of that opportunity. So, instead of seeing yourself fail, see yourself succeed, because that's all fear is trying to do, is fear is trying to protect you. Fail. See yourself succeed, because that's all fear is trying to do is fear is trying to protect you. So fear is just excitement without breath. Let that sink in. The same adrenaline that makes you afraid is the same energy that fuels your success. It's all about how you interpret it. So here's a mind shift, mindset shift, mindset shift. Instead of thinking what if I fail, ask yourself what if this is the best thing I ever do? Or we can reframe fear. The next time fear tries to talk you out of an opportunity, talk back, remind yourself that fear is proof that you're on the edge of growth.
Speaker 1:I had so much growth when I wrote that chapter in that book. So much growth it was unbelievable and a lot of healing, which is really what I needed to do. So how do you step through the door of opportunity? Step through the door of opportunity. How do we actually, how do we actually step through that door when everything in us wants to retreat, wants to stay safe, wants to just stay where we are because it's comfortable? One, we have to decide and commit. Stop waiting for the perfect moment, because, guess what, it does not exist. Make a choice and commit to it fully, and commit to it fully. Two take the first step. Action kills fear. Even a tiny step forward is momentum. So when I decided to do the podcast, it literally was me standing there and I had to take the step and say, nope, I'm going to record an intro. That's what I'm going to do. Oh, I'm going to write my first chapter in a book that I've ever written.
Speaker 1:Three surround yourself with expanders. Be around people who challenge and inspire you, because your environment matters. So, do you have people who are bringing you down? You need to shh those people. Do you have people who are cheering you on? You need more of those people. Four embrace failure as part of the process, because failure is how you're going to grow. Every successful person has failed the difference. They didn't stop when they did the difference. They didn't stop when they did Five.
Speaker 1:Visualize your future self. Write a letter to your future self talking about how you were so incredibly successful with what you decided to do. Imagine the version of you who has already walked through the door. How does she feel? What does she know that you don't yet Step into her shoes? What does she do? Who does she talk to? What does she have for breakfast? All those things, because all those things are important. Envisioning your future self is so incredibly important.
Speaker 1:If you take one thing from today's episode, let it be this the life you want is on the other side of a chance you're afraid to take. Let me repeat that the life you want is on the other side of a chance you're afraid to take. So I'm asking you what is the opportunity in front of you right now? What is the door that's waiting for you to walk through? I have a challenge for you.
Speaker 1:Before this day ends, take one bold step toward an opportunity that excites you. Dm me or tag me on social media and tell me what you did, because I want to cheer you on. I want to cheer you on for taking that one step. So what are you going to do this week to take that bold step?
