If Walking, Face Masks, And Dancing Count As Therapy, We’re Nailing It

What if feeling grounded didn’t require a complete life overhaul? We open up about emotional wellness as a daily practice that holds everything else together—energy, relationships, sleep, and the way we speak to ourselves. Through honest check-ins, simple movement, and small rituals, we map out a kinder path back to center that fits a real day, not an ideal one.
We start with the core belief that feelings need care even when nothing is on fire. From there, we explore movement as medicine—walks without a phone, gentle stretching, and kitchen dance breaks that clear the mind and ease the nervous system. For midlife women navigating hormone shifts and erratic sleep, we share supportive approaches to supplements like magnesium, omega-3s, and adaptogens, and talk about how to listen when your body flags signals such as fatigue, brain fog, or mood swings.
Mental strength also gets a practical reframe: training attention to notice small good moments without dismissing real stress. We lean into breathwork and short, doable journaling to close loops and tell the body it is safe. Then we ground it all in tiny, sensory rituals—peppermint face masks, tea by a window, a quiet walk at dusk—that refill the cup and make generosity and boundaries feel natural, not forced. The thread running through it all is intention: choosing one small act that whispers you matter and letting that choice ripple outward.

SPEAKER_00Hello, beautiful souls. Welcome back. If you're new here, my name is Lisa, and this space is for women who are ready to reclaim their energy, their identity, their joy, especially in midlife. Last week I shared something deeply personal. I talked about my experience at Valley of Fire and how being surrounded by those ancient red rocks shifted something inside of me. It reminded me how powerful stillness can be, how healing nature can be, how sometimes the most life-changing moments come when you slow down enough to actually listen to your soul. And after that experience, something became crystal, crystal clear to me, even though I can't speak crystal clear. It's something we talk about a lot in the wellness world, but I don't think we always fully understand it. Emotional wellness matters. Not just when we're struggling, not just when life feels heavy, but every single day. Because emotional wellness is the foundation of pretty much everything else. Our energy, our relationships, our health, our ability to show up for the people that we love. And today's episode is about something I believe in deeply. Taking care of your soul is simple and it's beautiful in so many different ways. And we're gonna talk about it. Emotional wellness, self-care that actually restores you, supplements that support your body, movement and exercise, mental strengthening, and the little rituals that help you come back to yourself. Because the truth is self-care isn't selfish, it's survival, it's healing, and sometimes it's the beginning of a completely new chapter. Emotional wellness. It seems to be the missing piece in a lot of people's lives, right? So let's start with something that often gets overlooked, and that is the emotional wellness. We talk about the physical health, we talk about diet, exercise, supplements, but we don't talk about the emotional wellness, it is often treated like an afterthought. The one thing that we address only when something goes wrong. When we feel burned out, when we feel overwhelmed, when life forces us to slow down. But emotional is emotional wellness is not something we should only pay attention to in moments of crisis. It is something we should nurture every single day. Because the truth is, emotional wellness touches every part of our lives. It affects how we handle stress, how we respond to challenges, how we connect with other people, how we speak to ourselves. And if we're honest, many of us were never really taught how to care for our emotional well-being. So we were taught how to work hard, how to push through, and how to keep going even when we're exhausted. But rarely were we taught how to pause and ask ourselves, How am I doing? Not the polite answer, not the I'm fine answer, but the honest answer. Emotional wellness is about creating a space for that honesty. It's about recognizing that your feelings are there without judging them. It's about allowing yourself to experience joy and sadness and frustration, gratitude, all of it, without pushing those emotions aside. But when we ignore our emotional health, it doesn't disappear, it just doesn't go away, it will show up in other ways. In like it shows up in stress, in fatigue, in irritability, in feeling disconnected from ourselves. And often it really begins with the smallest act of awareness. So taking a moment to breathe, checking in with your thoughts, giving yourself permission to feel what you're actually feeling. These small moments create a foundation of emotional strength. And when that foundation is strong, everything else, your health, your relationships, your purpose, it all has a place to grow. That's why emotional wellness isn't really optional, it's really truly essential. And it's something every single one of us deserves to cultivate. Now let's talk about movement as medicine. Because another piece of emotional wellness that I've really been reconnecting with lately is moving, is movement. Not punishment workouts, not burn the calorie workouts, but just plain old movement, because that feels good in your body. And there's something absolutely magical that happens when we move because our mind will clear, our mood shifts, your nervous system resets itself. And the truth is, movement doesn't have to mean an intense gym session session. Some of the most powerful forms of movement are the simplest ones, like going for a walk, stretching in the morning, um, taking, you know, turning on the music and dancing in your kitchen while you cook dinner, or taking five minutes to breathe and move your body after a long day. One of my favorite things to do is to simply just go for a walk. No podcast, no phone, just walking, listening to the sounds of nature, listening to all the sounds around me, feel the air, and let your mind just settle. And I always come back feeling just a little bit lighter because your body was designed to move, but more importantly, your mind was designed to reset through movement, and even ten minutes can change everything. Supporting your body with supplements. Everything that I absolutely love. So I want to talk about something practical when it comes to supplements because emotional wellness isn't just about your mindset, it's about supporting your body, especially in midlife, especially pre-post menopause, because that's what I am. And it's so important to realize how your body changes, how your hormones shift, your energy levels, they fluctuate, and your sleep patterns. Well, they just are either non-existent or they just change every single night, right? And sometimes our bodies simply need just to get that little extra support, and that's where supplements can be so incredibly helpful to you. And I'm not saying that they're magic pills because they're not, but if you choose them wisely, they can support things like energy, hormonal balance, blade, brain clarity, stress management, sleep. I mean, they can pretty much handle everything. And if you're like me, I went through menopause 10 plus years ago, if not longer, 15, 20 years ago, 15 years ago. And I have never been on any hormone medication. I've not had a hysterectomy, and the things and the supplements that I'm taking have helped me beyond measure. And for many women, simple things like magnesium or omega-3s, adaptogens, or targeted wellness products can really truly make noticeable difference. And I am the person to say and support that because the key is to learn how to listen to your body, because your body is always communicating with you. Fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, those are all signals, not failures. And supporting your body is a part of honoring yourself, and when your body feels supported, your emotional resilience grows too. So, how about we go into now mental strength and training your mind? Because that is really important, and one of it's one of the most powerful forms of self-care. And it often gets overlooked because as like mental strengthening. Not the surface kind, not this, not that kind, but really pausing and noticing the good, the sunlight through the window, a quiet moment with coffee, or a conversation that just truly fills your heart. And when you train your mind to notice those moments, something inside shifts. And you begin to see life differently, not through the lens of stress or pressure, but through the lens of possibility. And that mental shift can really truly change everything. So if you create small rituals of self-care, that is something that will have a big impact on you. So let's talk about something that often gets misunderstood, and that is your self-care. That's why if you just create small rituals, you're you'll learn to grow with it, right? Because self-care isn't always big. I mean, I did a face mask the other night, 20 minutes, but it felt amazing. So it doesn't have to be a big, dramatic event. It's often small rituals that bring us back to ourselves. And, you know, like I was talking about last week, I did something so incredibly simple. It was just a little spa night that I gave myself. I put on a peppermint facial mask. I put on the fireplace, I put on calming music, and I just allowed myself to relax. It really, it wasn't fancy, it wasn't expensive. I did it at home, but it felt really luxurious. And more importantly, it felt intentional. It felt like I used my time before I went to bed to really do some self-care. To wash my face, to put on the mask, to just relax and to really go inside and just relax. It was just really intentional. It felt so good. And those small moments remind your nervous system that you're safe, that you're cared for, that you matter. And you know, self-care can just be so simple, and it can look like a warm bath or a walk in nature or a cup of tea before bed, reading a few pages of a book, sitting quietly without distractions. These moments are not indulgent, but they're restorative, and they refill your cup. And when your cup is full, you can pour into everyone else from a place of abundance instead of exhaustion. So it's kind of like coming back to yourself. At the end of the day, emotional wellness is a really good one thing to do for yourself that makes yourself just kind of come back to yourself, come back centered, because life pulls us in so many different directions, so many responsibilities, expectations, pressure. And along the way, somewhere along the way, many of us lose connection with who we really are. But the beautiful thing about self-care, emotional wellness, and healing is that they help guide you back, back to the center, back to your peace, back to your power. And the truth is it doesn't take a dramatic life overhaul. It just starts with small choices like a walk, supplements that support your body, a quiet moment with a journal, a face mask and a deep breath. These little acts are so powerful because every time you choose to care for yourself, you're sending your nervous system a message. I matter. And that message changes everything. Before we wrap up today, I want to leave you with this thought. Your emotional wellness is not a luxury, it is foundational. When you take care of your mind, body, your soul, everything else in life begins to feel different. You show up differently, you respond differently, you live differently, and sometimes the biggest transformations start with the smallest acts of self-care. So this week, I invite you to try one thing. Take a walk, create a quiet ritual, create a nighttime ritual, try a face mask like I did. Do something small that reminds you that you deserve peace too. And if you haven't listened to my last episode yet, the one about my experience in the Valley of Fire, I highly recommend going back and listening to it. Because that experience is truly what opened my heart to this conversation about emotional wellness. It's a powerful reminder of how nature, stillness, and reflection can wake something up inside of us. So go back and listen to it next. And as always, thank you for spending time with me. If this episode spoke to your heart, please share it with someone who might need this reminder too. Until next time, take care of your body, take care of your mind, and most importantly, take care of your beautiful soul. See you next week.
