Gurumahan's 9th Velvi discourse (1999) is about the inner evolution of humans from animalistic instinct to divine awareness, love and unity!

We do not understand myths correctly. God comes in human form. Whom are we searching for? We search for God, but we fail to see that we ourselves are God. God is searching for God. This is the truth. God exists within us.
But we place ego in front. We say, “Do you know who I am? Do you know how much money I have? Do you know my education and my property?” This sense of “I” creates arrogance. When ego rises, we move away from divine truth, love, and the highest state. Then animal nature takes over. When our comfort or pleasure faces an obstacle, anger and aggression arise. This is animal instinct.
Within us exist three natures: animal, human, and divine. Yoga means strengthening the divine nature. We do not develop it outside. We cultivate it within ourselves.
The mind functions in four levels: outer mind, inner mind, subconscious mind, and transcendental mind. Scriptures explain that the soul experiences four states: waking, dream, deep sleep, and the pure awareness beyond sleep. All living beings experience the first three states. The fourth state requires higher awareness, called true awareness or divine awareness.
When a person attains this awareness and unites with it, love alone arises. This is why we say love is Shiva and love is God. In this state, a person sees no difference anywhere. He sees himself in all beings and sees all beings within himself. Division and discrimination disappear.
In this state of unity, thoughts turn into reality and words gain power. That is why one must attain true awareness. When the mind unites with the divine awareness within, it becomes peaceful and joyful. Then there are no enemies in the world. Today, our real enemies live within us. Desire, lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride, jealousy, and ego block us from uniting with divine awareness.
