Significance of 18th Holy penance for Universal wellbeing! 18 ஆவது பிரபஞ்ச நல மகாதவ நோக்கம்!

In the inaugural discourse of the 18th Velvi, Gurumahan speaks of the great yajnas once performed by Vishwamitra to protect and uplift the world, and reveals that today, the same divine mission continues through penance within the Pranavaalayam for the welfare of humanity.
Who is the Guru? “Gu” means ignorance, and “Ru” means the one who removes it. The Guru is the light that removes the darkness of ignorance. That is why this land itself is called KuruKshetra, the field of awakening. Within this body, there is an inner knower. You are not merely the body or the field; you are the knower within it. When you live as the doer with awareness and perform your duties rightly through the five senses, you fulfill your true responsibilities. Therefore, one who performs penance must also perform rightful action. This is why we practice both tapas and duty through this Velvi. Having crossed 17 Velvis, the 18th marks a significant completion. The number 18 reduces to 9, and 9 symbolizes an ending or fulfillment. Through this velvi for world welfare, we must now create transformation in the world. Every action begins with thought. Thought is the root of all action. If thought becomes pure and disciplined, action too becomes pure. So first, we must correct our thinking. Before speaking of world peace, we must first care for the needs of our own land. When we visited Theni district, we met farmers and their leaders. They spoke of their suffering, no water, declining agriculture, and the destruction of farmers’ livelihoods. The Government must listen to the cries of the people, but Gurus also have a duty: not merely to close their eyes in meditation, but to bless rulers with wisdom and offer noble thoughts for the welfare of society. From ancient times, great sages like Vishwamitra performed yajnas for world peace. These were both outer sacrifices and inner spiritual sacrifices. To protect these divine efforts, every section of society had a role. Spiritual wisdom guided the sacrifice, warriors protected it, providers supplied resources, and workers supported its function. Only when all worked together could great transformation happen. In earlier times, divisions were not created to separate humanity but were based on one’s role and responsibility in society. These great yajnas were never done for one person alone, but for the welfare of the entire world. Agni Velvi is not new. From ancient times, it has been the path of transformation. Parvati herself performed intense penance through the power of fire to attain Shiva. Arjuna attained greatness through tapas. Many divine beings reached higher states through penance and sacrifice. Tapas elevates human beings to higher consciousness. The future must be built on devotion, because without devotion, true wisdom cannot arise. But devotion must not remain as mere outer display. It must become inner devotion. It must turn inward until one realizes God as the very soul within. This inner devotion becomes Gnana Yajna. Only then can we create a future where all people receive what they need, live in harmony, and experience true joy.
