In the 22nd Velvi discourse, Gurumahan speaks about the vital link between the Brahmaputra River, India's water security, and national unity.

"My beloved ones,
In this present time, water-related issues are becoming increasingly serious. Right now, we are only looking at disputes between two states, but a water crisis is going to confront the whole of India. Whenever a state builds a dam, conflicts arise between states. The Brahmaputra is a magnificent life-giving river, and much of India's water resources depend upon it. Yet even the Brahmaputra now faces a grave challenge. China is constructing a massive dam on the Brahmaputra. Will the water continue to flow into India? Water disputes between nations are waiting to unfold. My beloved Kambam Ramakrishnan has been explaining these issues in depth. You must prepare yourselves to address India's future challenges. If you ask whether this is truly a problem, I would say it is not. People have turned something that need not be a problem into one. He has presented a remarkable historical perspective on this issue, tracing it back to the nineteenth century. Water belongs to everyone. We often say that rivers should be nationalised. But according to the Constitution of India, the rivers are already under national authority. The Central Government has not exercised these constitutional provisions effectively. Decisions regarding whether dams should be built or not fall within the responsibility of the Central Government, not the individual state governments. If the Central Government examines this issue with fairness and rises above divisions such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, the South, or the North, and instead thinks solely for the welfare of the people of India from a national perspective, this problem can certainly be resolved. Our political leaders undoubtedly possess tremendous capability. If, while in governance, they also attain true wisdom, the living knowledge of higher consciousness, they will solve these problems before they grow into greater crises. Today, countless people continue to suffer because of these unresolved issues. When these problems are resolved, not only will disputes among states come to an end, but India will also be prepared to face the greater national challenges that lie ahead. It is this India that is destined to bring about a profound transformation for the world. This is also a remarkable prediction of the Maya tradition. The Vedas declare: 'The world shall be guided by the noble path of Tamil.' This single statement is enough. The people who lived in the southern region of the lost continent of Lemuria possessed the capacity to guide the world. That is why I say:
'O Tamil, when you rise, the whole world shall rise with you.'
