In the 26th Velvi discourse, Gurumahan reveals the mysterious divine path within us and explains how the same Supreme Power that created the universe resides within every human being.
Where is the divine path, and what is it like?
In the beginning, the Supreme Power, the source of everything, existed in a state of self forgetfulness for ages. When that forgetfulness dissolved, it awakened to SELF. From the movement of that awakening arose a primordial sound, and from that sound emerged a subtle light.
That light gradually permeated everything and ultimately manifested as the human form.
After countless incarnations, that primordial substance, the original essence, the very source from which everything arose, must still exist within this human being.
Just as a sparrow builds its nest and leaves a small opening through which it can enter and leave, the human body too has an opening through which the cosmic energy enters.
When we build a house, we provide a doorway. Likewise, this cosmic energy creates the body and enters it through the opening at the top of the head. This is the divine path.
There are ten gates through which one can enter or experience this body. But there is an eleventh gate, the opening at the crown, known as the Brahmarandhra. Through this subtle opening, the primordial cosmic energy enters.
That is why the crown of the head is regarded as a sacred and subtle gateway.
The primordial energy then manifests as the light of consciousness and the light of knowledge at the brow centre, between the two eyes. This is the centre of knowledge, the soul centre, the divine centre.
When this consciousness becomes established at the brow centre, it governs the entire body from there. Through it, we experience movement, touch, sight, hearing, taste, smell, thought and all the functions of the body.
As this consciousness descends further, it expresses itself through the different levels of existence within us. At the heart centre, it becomes associated with the life force and the movement of breath.
From there, it continues its descent as fire, water and earth, expressing itself through the five elements. The subtle becomes gross. The energy gradually manifests as the physical body and ultimately as the world we experience.
Therefore, the very same Supreme Power that manifests this entire universe is present within every human being.
That which appears infinitely far away is, in truth, incredibly close, because it is within us.
