Chris McCaffrey, known online as @chrisinthecold, is an adventurer driven by bold ideas and human-powered exploration. From an audacious attempt to row the North Atlantic without prior rowing experience — surviving hurricanes, capsizes, and even a rescue by an oil tanker — to completing a 16-month global cycle across 21 countries, Chris has made a habit of testing his limits against the elements. His global ride took him along the Silk Road, into the vast Pamirs, and across Southeast Asia, where he faced extreme heat, illness, collisions, and moments of collapse, but also experienced the kindness of strangers and the awe of wild landscapes. Chris’s storytelling brings to life both the chaos of survival and the quiet connections found on the road, making his adventures as much about human resilience as they are about endurance.
