Terry Virts

Terry Virts is a retired NASA astronaut, International Space Station commander, U.S. Air Force colonel, test pilot, author, filmmaker and photographer. A veteran of two spaceflights, he piloted Space Shuttle Endeavour on STS-130, flew aboard Soyuz TMA-15M, completed three spacewalks and commanded the ISS during a seven-month mission in orbit. Before NASA, he flew F-16s and served as an experimental test pilot. Since returning to Earth, Terry has written books including View From Above and How to Astronaut, directed space and aviation films, and used photography, storytelling and leadership work to help people see Earth — and our responsibilities to it — from a wider perspective.
