Cathy O'Dowd
Cathy O’Dowd is an internationally acclaimed mountaineer, author, and team dynamics expert who became the first woman in the world to summit Mount Everest from both its North and South faces. Her high-altitude career is defined by operating in some of the most unforgiving, high-stress environments on Earth. She has stood on Everest four times, navigating the treacherous Khumbu Icefall, surviving the worst storm in the mountain’s history, and experiencing both the profound triumph of the summit and the stark reality of losing teammates to the altitude. Beyond Everest, Cathy took part in a historic, alpine-style expedition attempting a new route on the Mazeno Ridge of Nanga Parbat—one of the longest, unclimbed ridges in the Himalayas. Today, she translates extreme physical experiences into case studies on human behavior, exploring why plans fail, how egos fracture teams under pressure, and the tools required to maintain collaboration when high-stakes execution matters.
