Jonathan Kingston
Jonathan Kingston is an award-winning National Geographic contributing photographer, visual storyteller, and maritime archaeologist. His assignments have taken him to remote corners of the globe, photographing everything from vibrant tribal traditions on land to vulnerable marine ecosystems underwater. Kingston focuses on the raw physical reality of his subjects, famously capturing underwater images of swimming elephants and enduring harsh environments where his gear is subjected to saltwater, fine sand, and deep sub-surface pressures.
As a technical diver, Kingston has documented 17th-century pirate shipwrecks in Panama and Colombia. Beyond his fieldwork, he is a dedicated photography expert and teacher who helps others move past technical barriers to capture the emotional, authentic essence of a place.
