A quiet room, a fragile voice, and a story that still shakes the hills: we read Luke 1:57–66 and trace how the birth of John the Baptist turns private promise into public awe. Elizabeth’s courage to say no to tradition and yes to a new name meets Zechariah’s written agreement, and at that moment his voice returns. What unfolds is a living portrait of Advent—waiting that leads to obedience, obedience that unlocks praise, and praise that ignites a community to wonder, “What will this child become?”

We walk through the text slowly, noticing how identity is named before destiny is revealed. The neighborhood hears of God’s mercy and gathers around the family; the simple act of naming becomes a doorway to calling. Along the way, we explore how expectancy shapes our days: staying watchful, praying with focus, and keeping our hearts ready for the One who came and is coming again. This isn’t a performance of faith but a posture—showing up even when the voice is weak, trusting that God works through ordinary moments and imperfect days.

You’ll hear a call to align your words with what God has spoken, to resist the pull of tired patterns, and to let hope move from your heart into your home and neighborhood. If you’ve felt muted by doubt or routine, Zechariah’s restored voice offers a gentle push toward praise. If you’ve questioned whether your small acts matter, watch how the Judean hills light up with awe from one family’s obedience. Listen, reflect, and carry the question into your week: who are you becoming as you wait?

If this encouraged you, tap follow, share it with a friend who needs hope today, and leave a quick review so others can find the message. Subscribe for daily Advent readings and join us in spreading simple acts of courage and wonder.

Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets. I'm Rick, and I'm so glad you're here. Now, this is something special. For the next 25 days, we're gonna slow down, we're gonna quiet our hearts, and we're gonna turn our eyes towards Jesus as we walk through Advent together. Now every day we'll take a few minutes to breathe and reflect and remember the hope that came into the world and the hope that's coming again. Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets. We're gonna continue on with our Advent Bible reading. This is day twelve. We're gonna be in Luke again today, um, chapter one, verses fifty-seven through sixty-six, and it's the birth of John the Baptist. When it was time for Elizabeth's baby to be born, she gave birth to a son. And when her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had been very merciful to her, everyone rejoiced with her. When the baby was eight days old, they all came for the circumcision ceremony. They wanted to name him Zechariah after his father, but Elizabeth said, No, his name is John. What? they exclaimed. There is no one in all your family by that name. So they used gestures to ask the baby's father what he wanted to name him. He motioned for a writing tablet, and to everyone's surprise he wrote, His name is John. Instantly, Zechariah could speak again, and he began praising God. Awe fell upon the whole neighborhood, and the news of what had happened spread throughout the Judean hills. Everyone who heard about it reflected on these events and asked, What will this child turn out to be? For the hand of the Lord was surely upon him in a special way. Amen and amen. Tomorrow I'll have somebody with a better voice back. We've got a little sickness around here. I apologize, but we love you and we appreciate you listening. See ya. All right, thanks for joining me today on Renewed Mindsets. As we walk through Advent, let's stay expectant. Let's stay watching, praying, and keeping our hearts ready for the one who came and the one who's coming again soon. I love you. Let's keep our minds renewed and our eyes on Jesus. The executive producer of Renewed Mindsets is Christy McCurry. That's all for today, but I'll be back with more unfiltered biblical truth and undeniable prophecy. The time to wake up is now. If today's episode challenged you, don't keep it to yourself. Tell someone, please. Text them a link. Share the truth while there's still time.
