A quiet yes can change everything. On day fourteen of our Advent journey, we open Matthew 1:18–25 and step into Joseph’s world at the moment his plans fall apart. He faces shame, uncertainty, and a decision that will define not just his life, but the story of redemption. Then an angel speaks: the child is conceived by the Holy Spirit, his name will be Jesus, and he will save his people from their sins. The promise reaches back through prophecy and forward into our present: Emmanuel, God with us.

We read the passage slowly and sit with Joseph’s character—righteous, merciful, steady—and the courage it takes to obey when the path makes little sense to others. This isn’t theory. He wakes, takes Mary as his wife, guards her dignity, and names the child as commanded. Along the way, we talk about how ordinary faithfulness looks today: choosing trust over optics, quiet prayer over noise, and encouragement over cynicism. Advent isn’t passive waiting; it’s active attention. Breath by breath, we practice slowing down, listening for God’s voice, and keeping our hearts ready for the One who came and is coming again.

You’ll leave with a clearer picture of biblical hope, practical ways to watch and pray, and a nudge to share truth with someone who needs courage. If this short reflection stirred you, send it to a friend, subscribe for the daily Advent readings, and leave a review so others can find these moments of Scripture and stillness. Let’s stay watchful, stay holy, and stay renewed together.

Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets. I'm Rick, and I'm so glad you're here. Now, this is something special. For the next 25 days, we're going to slow down, we're going to quiet our hearts, and we're going to turn our eyes towards Jesus as we walk through Advent together. Now, every day we'll take a few minutes to breathe and reflect and remember the hope that came into the world and the hope that's coming again. Hey, welcome back to Renewed Mindsets. We're back for the Advent Bible reading, day 14. Day 14, we're in Matthew chapter 1, verses 18 through 25. This is Joseph's dream and obedience. This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from all our sins. All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord's message through his prophet. Look, the virgin will conceive a child. She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel, which means God with us. When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born, and Joseph named him Jesus. All right, thanks for joining me today on Renewed Mindsets. As we walk through Advent, let's stay expectant. Let's stay watching, praying, and keeping our hearts ready for the one who came and the one who's coming again soon. I love you. Let's keep our minds renewed and our eyes on Jesus. The executive producer of Renewed Mindsets is Christy McCurry. That's all for today, but I'll be back with more unfiltered biblical truth and undeniable prophecy. The time to wake up is now. If today's episode challenged you, don't keep it to yourself. Tell someone, please. Text them a link. Share the truth while there's still time. Until next week, I'm Rick.
