Feeling wrung out by headlines, hot takes, and the pressure to react to everything? We’re taking a brave step in the opposite direction—away from performative outrage and toward clear, quiet, rooted faith. Rather than letting the world set our pace, we slow down enough for God to renew our minds and steady our hearts.

We start by naming a cultural lie: if you don’t react, you’re not faithful. Then we hold it up to Scripture. Romans 12:2 calls us to stop copying the world, which includes the cadence of constant reactions and the addiction to visibility. We talk about the difference between reactive faith and rooted faith, and why clarity always beats noise. From there, we explore what it actually means to stand—calmly, consistently, and with authority under control. Jesus modeled strength in quiet, choosing when to speak and when to stay silent, anchored in the Father’s will rather than public pressure.

Abiding becomes the practical center of the conversation. John 15 invites us to remain in Christ, not remain informed or outraged. We share simple rhythms to recover attention and peace: sit with God without an agenda, pause before posting, and let prayer set your tone for the day. You’ll hear a guided moment to breathe, release the weight you were never asked to carry, and receive a clear, simple assignment: walk humbly, think clearly, obey fully, and stand calmly. Let God handle the shaking; you focus on staying rooted.

If you’re ready to trade confusion for clarity and anxiety for steady obedience, this is your reset. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs quiet strength today, and leave a review to help others find this space of peace and purpose.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to Renewed Mindsets. In a loud and confusing world, this podcast exists to help you think clearly, live faithfully, and stay anchored in truth. We're not chasing fear or headlines, we're choosing obedience, clarity, and steady faith. Take a breath and let's renew our minds together. Let's go, boys. Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets. I'm Rick and I'm so glad you're here. Now let me start by saying this plainly. A lot of you are tired. Not tired in your body, but tired in your spirit. You wake up and before your feet hit the floor, the noise starts. News alerts, opinions, outrage, division, pressure to take a side, to speak up, to react. Even inside the church, the noise hasn't stopped. What's truth? What matters? What do we stand on anymore? Some of you love God deeply, but you're worn down trying to stay faithful in a world that won't slow down. If that's you, you're not weak. You're paying attention. So here's the lie we're going to confront today. If I don't react, I'm not faithful. Now, somewhere along the way, we started believing that loud faith equals strong faith. That if we're not constantly responding or posting or arguing or sounding the alarm, then we must be compromised. But scripture never teaches reactive faith, it teaches rooted faith. The enemy loves noise because noise creates confusion. And confusion creates fear, and fear creates bad decisions. God, on the other hand, speaks in clarity. So I thought I'd start the new year of renewed mindsets with the anchor scripture that we always use. Romans 12 2. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Now notice what Paul doesn't say. He doesn't say fight the world, fix the world, outshout the world. He says don't copy it. That means we don't let the world set the pace of our thoughts, our emotions, or our reactions. Renewal happens when we slow down enough to let God reshape us. As you continue to listen each week, you're going to hear me talking a lot about standing. It's just kind of what's in my head for the year. It started last year with the books that I wrote, and Wisdom for the Day podcast is all about standing, and it's moved over into renewed mindsets now. So standing must be my word of the year. Standing doesn't mean bracing for impact every day, though. But what it does mean is you don't move when others panic. You don't bend when pressure rises. You don't speak just to be heard. Jesus stood silent more than he spoke. When he accused, he didn't defend himself. When he mocked, or not when he mocked, but when mocked, when he was mocked, he didn't react. And when he was surrounded by noise, he stayed anchored in the Father's will. Now that wasn't weakness. That was authority under control. Some of you feel guilty for stepping back from the noise, but that might be obedience, not apathy. All right, we gotta be honest here. I need to ask you something honestly. When was the last time you sat with God without an agenda? No news in the background, no scrolling, no preparing your next opinion, your next sermon, your next Facebook text. Just you and him. Clarity doesn't come from consuming more information, it comes from abiding. John 15 tells us to remain in him, not remain informed, not remain outraged, not remain reactive, just remain. So here's your call today. It's simple. You don't have to keep up with everything to stay faithful. You don't have to speak on everything to stand for truth. You don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. That was never your assignment. Your assignment is to walk humbly, think clearly, obey fully, and stand calmly. Let God handle the shaking. You focus on staying rooted. Alright, just slow down. If you can, just pause for a moment. I need you to breathe and let the noise settle. And let's pray. Father God, we confess that the noise has worn us down. We've listened to too many voices, and sometimes we confused volume with truth. Quiet our hearts, renew our minds, teach us how to stand without fear, how to obey without panic, and how to trust you even when everything feels uncertain. We choose clarity over chaos, faith over fear, obedience over reaction. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen. If this episode helped you slow down and breathe again, that's what renewed mindsets is here for. That's what I'm going to be doing for you this year. We've got some major stuff coming up. End times events. We talked about it for the last 12 months. Now we need to breathe. Until next time, stand firm, stay anchored, and keep renewing your mind. Renewed Mindsets is produced by Christy McCurry. Special music by Weston McCurry. Thank you for spending this time with me on Renewed Mindsets. If today's episode brought clarity, don't rush past it.
