Episode 133: The Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A

Today’s Gospel gives us one of the most tender and consoling invitations Jesus ever speaks: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” It is a promise that reaches into the deepest places of human exhaustion, physical, emotional, and spiritual, and offers not escape but communion; not avoidance but healing. But before Jesus gives this invitation, He reveals something essential about the heart of God. He says, “I thank you, Father… for you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned and revealed them to little ones.” In other words, God’s truth is not grasped by power, status, or intellect. It is received through humility, openness, and trust.
