Episode 89: Misogi Pivot

Timea Parker Season 2 Episode 89
Timea:

Welcome to Season 2 of CEO Meets Homeschool. My name is Timea Parker and I am both a CEO and homeschool mom to my four boys. Welcome to Episode 89. In prior episodes, I have mentioned, Misogi based on Jesse Itzler's, definition of Misogi and it really is just doing something scary that challenges you that you've always wanted to do and you're supposed to do this every year and I was thinking the other day, I was like, wow, I've got like this year's Misogi planned, I've got a backup Misogi and I even have probably the next one or two years kind of like Penciled in, I've got ideas for it. And I was like, it's funny how, when you start doing things that inspire you, there's like a compound effect. You get better at doing more things that inspire you. But what happened for this year's Misogi, I'm going to have to pivot because it was connected to another individual, not in my household, that I knew was something that they were dreaming of doing. And I was like, this is going to be awesome. I'm going to do this. I'm going to help them do this. And so what ended up happening is. They were like, I'm not doing this. And I was like, well, I, this is based on like, the only way I can complete this particular Misogi is that this other person actually participates because it's their kind of idea. And so when I found that I was like, you know, things change, things are out of your control and I, I thought about it, I was a little discouraged because I think I talked, okay, now I'm going to talk about unique ability. Just like I said in the prior podcast, I'll probably start rambling about it. I love seeing potential in others. Like it, it brings me so much joy to see other people chasing their dreams. However, maybe a downside of this is I get very frustrated. When I see the potential or I see a dream and then there's no action to chase after it, even if they fail and tried. That's so much better than fear or our ego, whatever it is stopping us from going forward. So in my 2025 Misogi goal. It's not happening, the original idea. So, I was a bit frustrated and discouraged because I knew this would be really special. And so, I remember thinking about that and I was like, You have to pivot, Timea. Don't get stuck on this. And so that's what I did. I pivoted and the funny, ironic thing is, I have a backup Misogi and it's full swing, full speed ahead. And what made me really happy is this one will be tied to my kiddos. And just today, one of my kiddos that is not as adventurous as maybe others, he said the name of it, and he's like, let's, let's make this happen, and I, it did my heart good. And so, I just wanted, I, I was thinking of like, Misogi pivot, where things don't work out the way you might want them to, you know, you can grieve it, take five minutes. Be discouraged and then just move on. And especially when it's out of your control. In this case, it had to do with other folks and I have no control and I definitely, you know, you have to let it go. So I just thought I would share that and I'm excited to keep chasing Misogi. So it's, it's in the works. Have a great day, everybody. If you have enjoyed today's episode, please consider liking and subscribing. This will help me reach more CEOs and homeschoolers.
