Episode 102: Giving Bill Perkins and Jesse Itzler a Run for their Money on Intentional Living

Timea Parker Season 2 Episode 102

Welcome to season two of CEO Meets Homeschool. My name is Timea Parker, and I'm both a CEO and homeschool mom to my four boys. Welcome to episode 102. Today is gonna be fun. I hope I can share the message that I have in my mind, but I am calling it Giving Bill Perkins and Jesse Itzler. A run for their money on intentional living, and I'm basically gonna just spend the time today explaining what I mean by that. But both of those folks are pretty well known business folks. Bill Perkins, the reason I mention him is I really like his book that's called Die With Zero, and I've mentioned that book before, but really he gives a example of. When you have wealth, like the most meaningful part of the wealth is like sharing it with others. Being able to do things for the people you care about. And I'm assuming that's also applies to nonprofits you believe in and whatnot. But so great book. It's aimed for high net worth folks, but I really think it applies to everybody in their own way. And then Jesse Itzler, who I've talked about different times, he was part of his coaching program. He started doing these speaking engagements almost like TED Talks, and if I ever get a chance, I'm totally gonna try to go to one. But I know one of the main themes that he talks about, and he calls it a spiritual billionaire, and what that really just means is. Our life can be full of wealth and it has nothing to do with money. And so that's why I say I'm gonna give them all a run for their money.'cause I don't even hold a candle compared to where these guys are on the actual financial wealth side. But you start hearing what they're saying and it's not wealth that. Brings you joy, or as he likes to say, makes you a spiritual billionaire. It's intentional living. It's spending time with the people you care about, doing the things that are meaningful, using your unique ability to help others, and filling your life up with all of those good things, and then doubling down and doing more of those good things and more time with your family. And so it's just such a great concept that they're. They're teaching. And I think a lot of times we kind of see them because they're so high up on financial wealth that people are like, I could never do that. And I wanted to share. Let me jump to this question then I'll finish what I was gonna say. So I wrote this down. I said, if you had all the wealth you could imagine what would be different in your life. And so this is. The question. And those two folks, Jesse and Bill Perkins, they basically are trying to remind you it isn't about the money, it's about making wise decisions right where you're at. So what I was wanting to say is, right now, regardless of your financial situation, yes, like cash does help us make things easier, but it isn't what brings joy. What happens is when folks hit a certain financial level, they just realize, oh man, I wasn't spending time with my family. I wasn't helping others, and there's like these massive regrets. And so the concept of what I'm trying to share today is if you have a family, a spouse that cares about you, you're wealthy, you're you're rich in that area. If you have children, if you have people that you. Have around you. If you have like something that you enjoy that you're passionate about, that's like deep wealth. That's the definition of a spiritual billionaire. And, um, we have it right now. So those things, whether you were extremely financially wealthy or not, those are the things that run far deeper than what money brings. So yes, I know money makes things easier, but. It seems that that is just the constant issue. People will say, if I could just make this much money, I will be happy, and that tends to never be the case. I. I'm sure there's some examples, but it just, I just wanted to mention that, think of all of the beautiful things that, regardless of where your financial wealth is, that you're rich in, and usually it comes down to family, meaningful relationships, being able to spend time doing things you love. So, and as we head into summer, I just really wanted to, um, mention that as, that's a big focus for me right now. Have a great day. I am so glad that you joined me today. If you have found this helpful or just enjoyed following along, it would be a huge blessing to me if you like and subscribe to this podcast. Thanks so much.
