We all live under a universal mandate instituted by God, this mandate is choices decisions consequences and rewards. This mandate implements accountability in to our life path. We cannot keep making the same bad mistakes. Each bad decision is presented with a more severe consequence concluding with death. The ultimate consequence for wrong decisions is death, the converse is for right decisions the ultimate reward is life or that we get to make more decisions. God sustains man thru the creation of systems and laws that manage and enable life. From the meterological system to the reproductive system and the choices decision consequences and rewards mandate all sustain man on our path we call life.
