Recovery is selfish

Recovery requires a selfish mandate to treat the disease of addiction before anyone or anything. This selfish desire protects one's self-esteem, self-control, self-hood, and self-worth. All because one decides to selfishly treat the disease of addiction first and foremost. Self-love dictates a selfish decision to place recovery above everything. Even before your loved ones. Without placing the disease of addiction in remission every day, one risks succumbing to the ravages of the addictive lifestyle. Many have relapsed due to the placing of loved ones, work, money, hanging with friends , and complacency all before their recovery. A relapse may or may not result in a return to sobriety. Many times the decision to use could very well be the last decision one makes. Recovery is selfish. Most often we must save ourselves from ourselves. Recovery is a decision to live and not die. Recovery is a selfish desire to live by putting our recovery first Listen as Trent relates his selfish recovery keeps him alive.
