Self love is respect for ones self. An appreciation of self worth. A recognization of the love from God in our creation and sustaining our very existence. Self love means we are not suicidal or depressed or self loathing. But rather are appreciative to the God of our understanding for our very lives. The life we enjoy daily is to be cherished and viewed as a sincere blessing. A true gift of love, of mercy, of extreme significance. The gift of life is a endowment of extreme thought and care. Our very lives are the product of the imagination of a superior being. A awe inspiring blessing from an unseen, all-powerful entity, I call God. The blessing we call life should be met with the gratitude of caring for the very body that God sustains with the breath and energy of life. Without God's magnificence of measured power we would cease to exist, cease to breathe, cease to see, hear, think, yes cease to live. With God is the greatness of an all-powerful being who exist in the super natural. A God who does not need anything from the natural world to make his will come to be. He wills it and it is. For God nothing is impossible and everything is achievable. My love for me is my gratitude to the God of my understanding for giving me life. Listen as Trent explains why for him recovery means he must possess self love.

Recovery is a process of decisions.
Welcome to the Recovery is a Process of Decisions podcast. This is Trent Thomas, your peer support recovery specialist. This week's episode is entitled Recovery Means Today I Love Me. Recovery requires a love of self. How can I love anybody or anything else if I don't first love me? Self-respect, self-concern rewards itself through self-love. Today I love me. I'm not depressed, regressed, or suicidal. I'm a positive force moving forward. All in God's plan. Because today my love for me means I can have love for something other than me. This means I have love for the God of my understanding. This love supersedes my own ego, my own ambition. This love is reciprocal. The God I love loves me. God's love for man is beyond measure. We are his highlight creation. At man's beginning, God declared to the entire known universe, look at what I have made and see that it is good. Greatness is to be observed and applauded. Man was the greatest creation in the entire universe. God's proclamation was a show of pride. God was and is extremely proud of his creation we call man and woman. Man and woman are a soul creation, for together they are one, one unique and complete entity, born of the same stock, bones, blood, brain, and heart. Totally universe shattering and awesome in its conception. The creation of man and woman is a expression of God's love. His love for man and woman is expressed in the home he created for his prized creation. A home we call earth, totally self-containing and self-serving. A home that reconstitutes all the elements for life repeatedly over and over again. Rain, water, soil, sun, moon, stars, trees, vegetation, animals. Earth maintains a life cycle built and created to sustain itself for century after century. God created everything using cells and molecules and energy supplied by his awesome power, a power that is strong enough to sustain every living creature and entity in the entire universe. God not only created man and woman, but sustains us each day. All our cells have an energy that scientists to this day cannot explain. No one knows where the life force comes from or why each cell keeps working. Heart cells are heart cells for their life existence. This is not understood because cells have no brain. How do they know how to be a heart cell or a bone cell or a brain cell? Yet they do. We have no understanding. We must give it up to the God of our understanding who knows what we know not. With God is the secrets of the entire universe. I am often asked, How do you know there is a God? How you can you believe in God? My response to those questions is with a question of my own. With all the unexplained facts of existence, how can you not believe in God? The more I learn, the more I research, the more I conclude that there is a God, a God that cares about and for man and woman, a God who finds delight in his creation of man and woman. A God who has created man to recover, to get better, achieve more by making better decisions. Man is a creation that improves, that learns lessons, a creation that falls down and then gets back up. A creation who is only limited by his imagination. Man imagine he could fly and build airplanes. Imagine he could swim the ocean floor and build submarines. Man is godlike in his ability to envision what does not yet exist and bring it into reality. This is the greatness of God and the vision of God measured in his creations. Man was constructed with the hands of God. With God's mercy and superior intelligence, most often we must get out of God's way and let God do what God does. God truly knows what we know not. We exist on his merit, his power, his will. My love for self is my gratitude for the creation by God called me. My love for God is expressed by me loving and respecting myself. Self-respect, self-love is a determination of gratitude for the creation by God of who we are. My respect for myself means I take care of the body He created for me. I am mindful of what I feed it. I do not put poisonous drugs or deadly alcohol into it. I strive to exercise daily and live in harmony with my environment. I strive for peace and stress-free living. I choose to live a life of truth. I abstain from lying and purposely distributing lies. I remain a truth seeker. I search for and explore truth. I seek out the truth in all my affairs. I work for the community. I seek out helping others with my work, projects, and financial resources. The more God gives me, the more I can give to others besides me. Love for me means I can love someone other than me. My recovery today enjoins me to the God of my understanding. And his love for me is reflected in the love I show for myself. Today, I love me.
