Show Notes

We're back with a look at the Ellen Page-produced adaptation of Ingrid Waldron's book There's Something in the Water: Environmental Racism in Indigenous and Black Communities.

This film chronicles three struggles for justice in Black and Indigenous communities in Nova Scotia against industry and the state in Shelburne, Pictou Landing First Nation, and Sipekne’katik First Nation. We discuss the long history of racism in Canada, regulatory capture, resistance and COVID-19, and of course Tyler Shandro's passionate defense of his wife.
