Fauci Under Fire
The NP IS IN
Edged Weapons
Kimberly Blake's Kingdom Minute
Do people that punch into a podcast like this, do they know what happened in the congressional hearing? They know what Fauci.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you typically are gonna listen to people that you kind of have the same values with.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03And so I I would think that most people who listen to us know.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So we can so we can presume so no need to recap it. Maybe we will just play a short clip.
SPEAKER_03Well, there's not a whole lot to recap. All he did was plea the fifth.
SPEAKER_02Did you lie to the American people?
SPEAKER_04Um, no, but I can tell you that I plead the fifth.
SPEAKER_02Episode one hundred and forty now in progress. Did you see how how uh packed the schedule is for the show this week? We have a bunch of different topics. We're gonna talk about Dr. Fauci. We'll talk about there was recently a police intervention shooting. I don't remember where, but four officers. I believe there was a maybe stolen vehicle, certainly a pursuit.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02They get the guy out of the car. Uh four officers are attempting to take him into custody, and he produces a knife. And uh he is he is he cuts one of the officers and is shot and dispatched of. And the comments, I I think I picked it up on Facebook, maybe. No, uh, not Facebook, YouTube.
SPEAKER_03Well, you know what they should have done, given him a cupcake and a key and he would have put his sniper.
SPEAKER_02Unbelievable. The comments. And you know what? I don't blame I I don't necessarily blame the the person other than kind of articulating a uh opinion without having any facts or training, nothing, basing it on nothing other than feelings. That's that's what bugs me a little bit about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But folks don't understand uh the dangers of edged weapons, obviously, from the comments and and just generally as it relates to policing, people don't understand how dangerous knives are.
SPEAKER_03I think a lot of people think too that if you know, if you're a police officer, you getting cut is just that's your job, and that's just part of the job.
SPEAKER_02No, negative. Kimberly Blakes is here with her Kingdom Minute for us, and we'll recap chapter five of Revelation this week. So uh how's that going?
SPEAKER_03I love listening. I mean, um, you know, I listen and read all the time, but I just like that we're making a a part of our podcast.
SPEAKER_02It's amazing. Um yeah, John got this vision on on the island of Patmos. He was in he was exiled to the to the island of Patmos and got a vision and wrote it down about 1930 years ago, and he wrote wrote what God showed him down, and that is the book of Revelation in Scripture. And we've just been playing it. You know what? I I I think it's like this when um one of the things, if you go back and read about the execution of Jesus by crucifixion, um, right at the time he um made the ultimate sacrifice, he gave his spirit up. He didn't die in the sense that, okay, he's gone. He gave up his spirit as our sacrifice, and the and the veil that separated the temple, the part where folks can go from the holy of holies, there was a six-inch thick veil.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_02And there was an earthquake. So when Jesus gave his spirit up for us, um that six-inch thick veil ripped in two, and there was an earthquake. There's all kinds of uh archaeological evidence of what happened and and um meteorological uh evidence about what happened on that day. If you go back, you you can study back to that time and see what happened uh to the earth. Um at least scientists believe they know. But uh we have an act, we have access to God. We can walk right into the throne throne room.
SPEAKER_03No intermediary needed.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and but we also have to be reverent. Having access, see, people are treating God like a like some dude.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We just we're just cavalier and we and we you know, we have access. We can go into his presence. We can go into his presence, but we got we have to go with the right heart.
SPEAKER_03And and by the way, I hate seeing things like when people are wearing a t-shirt saying Jesus is my homie.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if that you know, yeah, uh it doesn't display any reverence. I get that. And and the and the honor that he deserves, but we we do have to understand how much he loves us. We can't we can't get to him on his level. We have to have a heart that's willing. We have to have a heart that seeks him and wants him and understands that we need him.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_02So, anyway, all of that to say that uh the book of Revelation, we are going to play it and just say, listen, have an op just have an open heart and open mind. I I figure you wouldn't be here if you didn't have some understanding of who God is because we belong to the Lord. We belong to Yeshua. We have given up our lives to glorify him. That's the only purpose, really, for this podcast and everything else we do. You know, we wake up in the day and say, How can we glorify God today? And everything else is gravy. Whatever else happens along the way, we'll do our work and we'll, you know, re-relate to our friends and family. But ultimately, how can we bring God glory? And that's not always easy. It doesn't always happen in a way that I observe.
SPEAKER_03No, no need to dig around to try to find something that we've done that doesn't, because you know, we fail all the time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. So, you know, I guess we're just saying just just understand we're just regular folks that know we need a savior, and we decided that Jesus is uh is the savior for us. He's uh he is Lord and God, and we're his disciples.
SPEAKER_05Doc and Carolyn Podcast!
SPEAKER_02Doc and Carolyn Podcast powered by powered by powered by Hammock Solutions, Lufkin, Texas, USA.
SPEAKER_07I started hammock solutions inside of a small incubator back in 2022. Somebody calls and has a virus or something like that, they can get it removed, or if they need data restoration or anything like that.
SPEAKER_02You went to our page. Did you start to weep, or what was your response?
SPEAKER_07Oh, I did notice a few issues that needed to be fixed. Your copyright on the bottom of the screen was kind of over some object, so I kind of fixed that. I added an archive page and kind of build it up a little bit. Most of my business if it has to do with software, anything that can be done remotely, I will typically do it remotely.
SPEAKER_02How can someone get a hold of you if they have an issue that you can fix with them?
SPEAKER_07They can find us on Facebook under Hammock Solutions. They can do a general search for Hammock Solutions 936-229-0269. We typically access through WhatsApp or directly to the lines.
SPEAKER_02Hammock Solutions, technical solution for the Doc and Carolyn Podcast. 96 degrees in beautiful Southeast Texas. We're uh Yeah, we're doing the podcast from Southeast Texas and you know, always related back to the home office in Lufkin, Texas. A lot of people don't know. They don't know what you went through as a you were a registered nurse when COVID hit. You were working in long-term care. And this is something you're I don't know that your parents know the story. They know bits of it. I'm sure you communicated, you know, five, six years ago about it. But, you know, you're not a hey, guess what happened to me today? You didn't call anybody that I know of. I never heard those conversations if they happened. But you um were in a unique position to watch COVID happen.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I was, with the most vulnerable vulnerable population.
SPEAKER_02And I was, at the time, I was a police officer, police sergeant, and I was assigned to the emergency communications section at that time, uh the regional operations center. So um, and I was a member of the union. I was an active member on two committees. I was uh on the wage team for the fraternal order of police uh union in Cincinnati, and uh also on the political endorsement committee, the 1900 club is what it's called. So I was immersed in policing and actually in the center of it all at the regional op center, and uh Carolyn was was nursing on the front lines.
SPEAKER_03I was that doing that and in my clinicals for my nurse practitioner.
SPEAKER_02So you okay, you're in school for nurse practitioner and doing the nursing work. Right. So can you and I think back on it, I don't remember how COVID first got on my radar uh d as um as a practitioner. I mean in in the healthcare business. How do you remember how it first kind of okay, there's something out there? I mean, seeing it on the news with everybody else, and then so there's no there's no CDC alert that that goes out by email or something to tell all providers, hey, there's something to be on the lookout for.
SPEAKER_03Well, not in the very beginning. I mean, because remember they were showing all of that stuff from China and all of that first.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then they started, we started having cases here, and then it grew, and then you know, that's when When you say here, you mean in the US.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And that's when the facilities start getting notifications from CDC and at some point, at some point I remember saying to you, Hey, this virus thing, what what should we be doing about it? What should we be thinking about it? And you were so you were just chill about you, you didn't you didn't flip out or anything. And that and that made me relax about it.
SPEAKER_03Well, because I I mean a it's a virus.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's what you said. And it's but but if you look at the YouTube videos and people are falling out in the like you said, it was propaganda, we know that now, right? But they were playing videos of people falling out at train stations and laying in the street and being hauled off on gurneys. It was Yeah, it was crazy. And and you just said it's a virus at your facility. You you were dealing with elderly people at a long-term care facility.
SPEAKER_03I was the elderly and people with multiple um comorbidities, those were the people that were having a hard time with it. So, you know, we had to be careful.
SPEAKER_02You were there, and whatever Dr. Fauci was recommending was starting to get down to the level where you are, you know, where you're hands on with the patients. Right. Do you remember a time when you started to wonder what is going on here? Because as a practitioner, as a provider, uh health provider, it doesn't add up. Did you ever get to a do you remember when it got to that point?
SPEAKER_03When they stopped letting families visit their the people that were in the nursing home.
SPEAKER_02That's when I was like the So was that so did the nursing home did the nursing home or the convalescent home change the policy?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02From it with that federal direction, do you remember?
SPEAKER_03Or I believe so. I mean, I wasn't in management there. Um, but so what did they say to you?
SPEAKER_02Uh, do you remember was that a meeting? Was that an uh an email?
SPEAKER_03You know, families no longer to see these No, I mean, yeah, we did have meetings, but um they just stopped allowing the families in. They they notified all the families, and then the patient let the patients know or the residents know, and they just stopped letting them in. It was very harmful to the patients.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, I just remember you going through uh oh uh you were just sad, you were just well really sad and mad at the same time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because I mean when you work in a place like that and you work with residents every single day and you get to know them, and you you start to love them, you know. And when they're telling you, if I can't see my family and I just have to be stuck here in this room, what is the point in me even living? And they meant it. And multiple people who I took care of every day just went downhill so quickly, right in front of my eyes.
SPEAKER_02I remember you crying.
SPEAKER_03It was horrific for me to watch because I knew what the problem was, they just weren't thriving because they weren't seeing their family. I had 30 patients, I guess, at a time. So I would try to take time to sit with people just to give them some company, but you you don't have time to do that all the time. And it was just heartbreaking to me. And it yeah, it made me very angry.
SPEAKER_02So so it wasn't so we we know they lied. That was part of it, and and we'll talk about that in a bit. But as far as um isolating these patients, especially patients that were in convalescent care nursing home environments. I mean, you like well, you just said it all, you need family to to to thrive.
SPEAKER_03Yes, everyone needs people around them who know they know, care about them.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And you need socialization. It doesn't matter who you are. I always say I can't stand people, but the truth is we all need people. Yeah, we need we're social creatures, whether we want to be or not, we just are. And you get lonely and you get to a point that you start to think, what's the point?
SPEAKER_02Since you're in the trenches there, did it did you wrestle with the idea that maybe that's the right thing to do? That maybe whoever made the decision not to have family, hey, you know, we can't sacrifice an entire family for the well-being of one person. So did you ever say to yourself, well, maybe this is the right and no you it's it was just wrong, wrong decision, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03I never ever thought that because it was the same when I wanted to fly here to come see my parents.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And everybody's thing was, well, I'm not gonna go see my parents, it's too dangerous. Well, you know what? If I have ten days left to live, I uh want to see my parents.
SPEAKER_02In fact, when you when you graduated from MP school, if you recall, since your graduation was canceled because of COVID, so we flew here.
SPEAKER_03Which also made me angry.
SPEAKER_02Your your parents threw a party for you and we flew down and gave everybody COVID. Do you remember? I forgot about that. We gave and I was and we were flying down here and I was on the flight, and um my ears stopped up. You know, sometimes when you fly, when you when you're landing, your ears stop up. Yeah. So at the beginning of the flight, it did that. That rarely happens to me, but it happened at the beginning of the flight, and both ears clogged up. I could just barely hear. I'm like flying and I'm chewing gum and uh, you know, just trying to get my ears to pop, and they never did. And by the time I landed, where do we every time we land in Houston, Papacito? Every time we come into Bush Airport, there when the doors open. We we we book an early early flight. Papacitos opens at 11. 11. So we get our luggage, we book, we just plan everything where we can be in the parking lot. We were bad, man.
SPEAKER_03You talking about Well, if you've never eaten at Papacitos, you may not understand. But if you have, you do understand.
SPEAKER_02So so we get down here, we go to the party, and uh by the time oh, I'm sorry, by the time we got to Papacitos, I was sitting at the table and I couldn't taste anything.
SPEAKER_03Was that for my graduation?
SPEAKER_02I think it was. I'm pretty sure. But whatever event it was, I sat at the table and I could not taste. And and you know, we live in Cincinnati, we have no access to this Tex-Mex, what we think is the premier Tex-Mex restaurant in this area. And I'm sitting there and I'm and I'm just mad because I can't taste the food.
SPEAKER_03I do remember though, you felt I mean you were regardless of the fact that I couldn't taste it.
SPEAKER_02I ate a bunch.
SPEAKER_03But you were fine after a day or so.
SPEAKER_02No, I never got sick.
SPEAKER_03No, you just like didn't I couldn't taste, and you know, because I don't know if the sinus thing, maybe the not being able to hear, was part of it. You can't taste when you have a cold. Yeah, so you know right.
SPEAKER_02But but nobody got but but when we left, your dad got sick. I think your mom got sick and and all of that.
SPEAKER_03So I w And we're all still here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, everybody's still here, right?
SPEAKER_03We all got a bad cold and we're all still here.
SPEAKER_02So as so with the issue of lying, check this out.
SPEAKER_08So for you, Joe Rogan, yes, I would say you've had it. Yes. So now get one shot of the vaccine. No, why not?
SPEAKER_09Because I have better immunity than I would if I was vaccinated. We so don't I? I think your immunity is really good. So why if I've already gotten through COVID and I was really only sick for a day, and then five days later I was negative? And I do have the natural antibodies now. Why would I take a chance and getting vaccinated on top of that?
SPEAKER_02To me, that's an odd thing for Dr. Gupta. Well, why is he trying to talk Joe Rogan there after having had COVID into getting the vaccine? Tell him explain that to me.
SPEAKER_03Because that's his job. And and it's his job to make everyone want it.
SPEAKER_02And Carolyn, my co-host, is uh nurse practitioner. You've been an RN uh nurse practitioner now, uh working at the urgent care um level, and you're the provider at your private practice, truehealinghealthcare.net. So explain again why why does Gupta say that? What what's his incentive?
SPEAKER_03You're saying that's his job, meaning Because there were so many questions and so many people didn't want to get it, you can't go in public and say, well, well, maybe you sh maybe you don't need it, or maybe you can't.
SPEAKER_02So he are you saying he b because of the maybe the MM uh the AMA, the American Medical Association, right?
SPEAKER_03Because people were losing their license for things like that.
SPEAKER_02So even though you if you knew that the efficacy of the of the vaccine was not what it should be, then you cannot go out publicly and say that.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02No free speech when it comes to that.
SPEAKER_03No. No. You you saw what happened to all those doctors.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You saw who who did have the spine to stand up and say things weren't as they were being told.
SPEAKER_02That explains that. Perfect, perfect uh explanation for that. Dr. Gupta is saying go ahead and get the vaccine anyway, because that's what the medical uh wisdom at the time said should happen. So, how do you explain this?
SPEAKER_09They're lying at your network about people taking human drugs versus drugs from veterinary medicines. Calling it a horse dewormer's not a flattering thing, I guess. It's a lie. It's a lie on a news network. And it's a lie that it's a willing that's that's a lie that they're conscious of. It's not a mistake. Yeah. They're unfavorably framing it as veterinary medicine. Well, the FDA put this thing out. You saw that.
SPEAKER_08Did you see the thing that the FDA put out? What did the FDA put out? It was a tweet and it was snorky. I admit it. They said, You are not a horse, you are not a cow, stop taking this stuff or something like that.
SPEAKER_09Why would you say that when you're talking about a drug that's been given out to billions and billions of people? A drug that was responsible for one of the inventors of it making the Nobel Prize? A drug that has been shown to stop viral replication in vitro. You know that, right? Why would they lie and say that's horse D Wimmer? This is ridiculous. It's just a lie. But don't you think that a lie like that is dangerous on a news network when you know that they know they're lying?
SPEAKER_02How do you justify his his behavior, his response there? He's not even, he's not even appalled that his network is lying. I mean, I I get it. It's the it's his check.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_02But don't where's his integrity as a as a physician?
SPEAKER_03He has none. I'm sorry, but he doesn't. I mean, not if he's okay with just lying.
SPEAKER_02To to to what end? Why did they lie, Carolyn? Why do you why do you think CNN, well, we know CNN. I don't want to presume that everybody knows that CNN and MSNBC and some of the MS Now, whatever, that that these networks, that these people that you watch on television are not paid anchors. They are paid actors. They follow a script. They are pushing a narrative and an agenda to change the narrative, to benefit someone. I'm not that's not what this show is for to get into the someone today. But why but but you should know that they were lying. They absolutely changed the the narrative and and put out false information.
SPEAKER_03They did. I think a big reason that they didn't want to use the ivermectin is because if you already have a treatment for it, you can't get the emergency authorization for the for the vaccine. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So see, this is this is the thing.
SPEAKER_03I think that would have been tons of money that pharmaceutical companies would have lost.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay. So so greed is your is is your excuse. Greed is Dr. Fauci and CNN, that's your excuse, greed. Always greed. Well, cool. Okay, now uh while you're being greedy, let me tell you what I personally. Observed. My first cousins, his um, this friend of my cousin got um got his wife got the shot, and within two days, got up two o'clock, three o'clock in the morning to go use the bathroom, turned the light on, went in the bathroom, shut the door, dropped dead. Everybody remembers remembers the Bengal player. Now, this is a young, healthy 20-something professional athlete who fell dropped dead. He was resuscitated in Bengal Stadium. Everybody watched it, and nobody sits back and says, Well, geez, that vaccine, that's you know, nobody okay, you didn't connect the dots, no problem. So all the vaccine injury, and there were there was another famous case. People were, well, really, people were falling out, comedians on stage, people during press conferences.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was I mean And that was from the vaccine, not COVID. It was happening way too often for it to be a coincidence.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but you know, but no, the other the the other thing I was gonna bring up, the other thing I was gonna bring up, yeah, uh these things happened that I observed with my two eyes, my cousin's friend, what happened on the football field. But you made a personal decision to take the vaccine. You took it.
SPEAKER_03I did.
SPEAKER_02There was a lot of pressure on me in the police department because the union was fighting, because of course, uh liberal city like Cincinnati, they wanted to, you know, vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate.
SPEAKER_03Bow down, bow down, bow down.
SPEAKER_02And you went ahead and took it. Um, and you were you had some patients that you absolutely adored. And the conversation you had with me was I cannot live with myself.
SPEAKER_03I was at the beginning. Yeah. And it was before I understood how corrupt our medical system is. And so when they said we have the vaccine and it will stop transmission, that's what I believed. However, I did pray a lot before I took it. And this is one thing that I do know. I've said this to you if I can trust God to protect me from COVID, I can trust Him to protect me from the vaccine if there's something going on with it that I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he did.
SPEAKER_02I was stuck with in the dilemma. They were pressuring everybody to get the vaccine. They really encourage, really, really encourage everybody to get it. Uh, I did not, and so I had to subject to testing. I had to get weekly testing. And I said, Okay, can I, does it matter whether it's no, as long as it's a an actual uh physician or healthcare place or whatever, yes, as long as you can prove that you've been tested. So I said, okay. So I went to my favorite, my favorite nurse, my favorite nurse practitioner, and uh and we tested you. And we tested. So what I do is is when it got close to work, I think at that time I was going in at 1100. And uh, so I'd get up, get dressed for work, and I drive straight to your office. You did my test every week.
SPEAKER_03Yep, we did. And you were negative every week. But I do want to say, after I got the vaccine, I still got COVID.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So yeah, I got it. I got a couple times pretty bad, you know. Well, the one time was pretty bad.
SPEAKER_03All right. So, you know, and after that, I thought, well, I'm gonna get it. So yeah, I'm not gonna, I I chose not to do the boosters. And I let let me say this as a disclaimer. I never tell, and this is the truth. I never ever tell anyone, do not get a vaccine. I just I don't. But what I do say is you need to understand what you're getting. You need informed consent. You need to understand. And if you choose to get it, great. I support you a hundred percent. And if you choose not to, great. I support you a hundred percent. It is your decision, no one else's. I'm Carolyn Kilgore, founder and provider at TrueHealing Healthcare.net.
SPEAKER_02Why functional medicine?
SPEAKER_03Because you're more than just a list of symptoms. Traditional care often masks the problem, but functional medicine digs deeper to find the root cause.
SPEAKER_02What makes true healing healthcare different?
SPEAKER_03We move away from the one size fits all approach. We look at your environment and your lifestyle to create a roadmap tailored specifically for you.
SPEAKER_02What if someone really wants to make a change?
SPEAKER_03If you're tired of feeling fine and want to start feeling great, it's about proactive wellness, not just reactive treatment.
SPEAKER_02What's the deal with telemedicine?
SPEAKER_03As long as you're 18 and have an internet connection, you can have a visit in the privacy of your own home or anywhere else in Texas. We're able to order labs or prescribe or whatever else you need.
SPEAKER_02Truehealinghealthcare.net for the great state of Texas.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to this Kingdom Minute with your host, Kimberly Blakes on the Doc and Carolyn Podcast. When you get born again, you are adopted to the family of Christ. That is amazing. You are seated with him in heavenly places, and you have a certain level of discernment, and all of us have it. All of us have it. Whether you pay attention to it is another thing. So back in 2020, when all of this came on the scene and I only had a few hundred friends on my Facebook page, I said, I made a post. I said, I'm gonna go on record now that they're gonna come out with something and you should not take it because it's not gonna benefit you. You know, this is to um decrease the population. People called me crazy, they blocked me, I was treated like I was mentally ill. People told me that I was not exercising wisdom. They said that Jesus would go out and take it if it came out, if the government said, you know, to take it, even though Jesus is a healer and that just absolutely is crazy. People went into this whole thing and I felt I was shunned completely. This was before they had enough masks. This was when people were walking around with per plastic jugs in their heads. I was walking into stores and I refused to go down a certain way. I refused to put a mask on because at some point you have to see what's going on, and somebody has to stand up. When you stand up, you give other people courage to do the same thing when they see that you are standing for righteousness. Thank you for tuning in to this Kingdom Minute with your host, Kimberly Blakes on the Doc and Carolyn podcast. You can find me on Facebook at Kimberly Blakes, and I also have a podcast called The Faith Frame Perspective. I'll see you guys there.
SPEAKER_02So there was a story in policing uh that happened this week. I don't remember the jurisdiction, but uh there was a vehicle pursuit, and the driver uh crashes, maybe pitted, and um at some point comes in uh contact with four police officers, and the video is there, there's a decent video of it. These four officers go to bring the guy in custody after, and again, this is after a long pursuit, and I believe a carjacking suspect, maybe. But the four officers are in a group uh trying to get him in custody, and the man brings a knife out. He takes uh uh an edged weapon out and cuts one of the officers. And the officer disengages, and they they all disengage to some extent, and uh guns are used, pistols are used, and the threat is stopped, the threat is eliminated. So uh the comments on the on the video that I saw were why on earth, with four police officers over this guy, would you need to use your gun to get hit to take him into custody? That is raw cops, excessive force, everything else.
SPEAKER_03You know, here's people who have never tried to take someone out who has a knife.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, exactly. And Carolyn has uh all the background in medicine. She's um family nurse practitioner with all the letters and credentials. I'm you know, I'm just a low-leak police officer retired. Oh, whatever. But um, yeah, I did 25 years uh as a police officer and got got to do some some fantastic uh things, things that I never dreamed, uh, quite honestly. I got a chance to, uh, after, you know, two or three years of well, more than three years of patrol, I was invited to join what was called a mini tactical unit. And that was about six, seven guys, six, seven officers. We all worked in plain clothes, and we go out and do district, you know, a district is just an area of operation, like a collection of neighborhoods kind of that we that we were responsible for. And we go out and we buy drugs and we do on duty, you know, to do drug investigations and uh just do vice work and uh violent any kind of violent crime uh work. At the time we were called uh a many tactical unit. It later involved into the violent crime squad. But when I was on same duty, um we uh just worked vice and violent crimes, uh drugs all the time. So um I went on to Sounds fun. Yeah, so I went on to go into a citywide unit, the street corner unit was is what it was called. And uh that was uh larger areas of operation. We were citywide, and then we would work with the county um um with the suburbs and their police agencies to do larger investigations, and I got to work with some fantastic police officers. I got to learn so much and and make some great arrests and learn how to how to be a cop. It was really, really uh great work.
SPEAKER_03So you know a thing or two about getting people in cuffs.
SPEAKER_02I've I've done a whole bunch of arrests, yeah. So um I also uh promoted a sergeant later and uh became a supervisor in the um gang enforcement unit. So being a gang sergeant was uh boy, incredibly uh fulfilling work. It was it was uh something I never dreamed I'd get to do. And uh I'll tell some separate stories about that another time. But as it relates to edged weapons, people underestimate how dangerous knives are. And in fact, some if you think of yourself, and you as you know, and let me put the four officers aside for a second. Let's say we're in a public place, a movie theater, and um, the danger of a knife, if you're in a crowd like that, is what do you miss when there is an assault on people in a crowded environment like that and they're using an edged weapon instead of a rifle or a pistol or something else?
SPEAKER_03What do you mean, what do you miss?
SPEAKER_02What do you what you miss is the is the noise that would cause you to move. Somebody could the somebody with uh a skilled knife guy could get a knife out and begin to slice people, begin to cut people, begin to hurt people, stab people. And because unless you hear the reaction of the crowd and you won't know what you're what you're hearing and how the why are they responding the way they're responding, a lot of damage can be done before anybody realizes it.
SPEAKER_03Right. And when something happens like that, it takes your mind a minute to even understand what's happening.
SPEAKER_02We're kind of preconditioned for gunfire. Yeah, we're kind of preconditioned for gunfire.
SPEAKER_03And I think there's been so many active shooters and some people, but you've seen videos of um active shooters and people are just standing and looking around, like what's even happening?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's a lag. You know, action is always faster than reaction. So when you hear it, takes a minute for you to understand what you're what you're seeing and hearing and how to respond to it. We're a little bit quicker because of active shooters with gunfire, but with a knife? No. Uh so the the guy, the suspect pulls this knife out, he cuts the first officer. You don't understand, if you've never tried to put somebody in handcuffs, how dangerous that is. In fact, I would suggest to you that that person with that uh uh a skilled knife guy, a skilled-edged weapon person, could have taken all four of those cops out and they couldn't shoot because you can't shoot each other. There's a crossfire. If you got four officers there attempting to get this guy in custody, you can't just pull your pistol out and start emptying your magazine into this group of people. You have to disengage and you have to then confront the person with the knife. Yeah, you can't, you know, all that Bruce Lee, what you saw on TV, no. That you know, I'm not saying the knife out of his hand. Yeah, I'm I'm not saying, yeah, shoot it out of his hand. Why not? Um, I'm not saying that that isn't possible, but that isn't the way business is done.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's not how you're trained.
SPEAKER_02Not at all. And um, I've seen, I mean, I've just seen been on scenes of so many machete attacks. Um, and um, you know, you Nick and you know from the medical, you geez, you worked the emergency room. You've seen the other end of this stuff. So you know how dangerous that really is.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh for folks that and you know what, if you just want to talk fantasy, you know, well, why didn't they just turn into transformers and get good? You know, I guess you could do that. Yeah, you can think like that if you want to, and that's fine. But it's not but it's not reality. I hope you understand that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and it it really when you were working, especially, it really upset me when people acted like they they knew or understood. Right, acted like y'all acted like you were supposed to or able to do things that just isn't reality.
SPEAKER_02And I've I think I've said this before. I think what that is, is we're so familiar with the police officer in this in in this country because we see because every television show, there have been so many depictions of police officers and media over all these years, we think we know. And now the Doc and Carolyn podcast presents Revelation to John Chapter five.
SPEAKER_00Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals, and I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals? And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. And I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, Weep no more. Behold, the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals. And between the throne and the four living creatures, and among the elders, I saw a lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints, and they sang a new song, saying, Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth. Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing. And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them saying to him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever. And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped.
