00:03:27.599 decision to start a podcast cuz we
00:03:30.120 started the conversation with we want to
00:03:33.080 build a community of women that actually
00:03:35.640 support each other and don't gatekeep
00:03:37.640 information and feel like there's room
00:03:39.519 at the top for everybody and that didn't
00:03:42.640 organically I guess maybe during one of
00:03:45.239 our book club meetings like six months
00:03:48.560 ago I said something like I want to
00:03:50.439 start a podcast yeah it was definitely
00:03:52.120 the first thing you said but then we
00:03:54.319 talked and I so you had the idea for
00:03:56.959 gayl we met for coffee so that we could
00:03:58.879 talk about your idea for and or the
00:04:01.120 anti-gay Keepers Club yes and then I was
00:04:04.280 trying to figure out I wanted to do
00:04:06.319 something where I was teaching business
00:04:08.079 owners how to start and scale a business
00:04:10.840 or something to work from homies I
00:04:12.480 wanted to show people how they could
00:04:13.799 work from home and then we met for
00:04:15.640 coffee and I feel like we were both just
00:04:17.238 like we should just do this together and
00:04:20.040 I was like your idea is better and then
00:04:23.000 but at the time we were I was saying
00:04:24.759 like oh you could build a community and
00:04:27.120 then we so we started off like thinking
00:04:30.080 about building a community but then I
00:04:32.479 feel like we were just like the podcast
00:04:34.680 this just makes sense like it makes
00:04:36.479 sense because what we're trying to do is
00:04:39.919 provide access to conversations that not
00:04:43.360 everybody has the ability to like have
00:04:45.600 or set up for themselves like we're
00:04:47.280 going to continue to interview people
00:04:49.360 that we didn't even know we could have
00:04:51.520 access to some of the people that we're
00:04:53.000 recording with in December and January
00:04:55.440 are incredible incredibly successful
00:04:58.160 have built huge brands for them
00:04:59.680 themselves and are certainly not in our
00:05:01.600 personal networks but the point of the
00:05:05.000 community was connecting women and
00:05:08.160 access to information and conversations
00:05:10.440 in brains that you wouldn't otherwise
00:05:12.000 have access to same thing for the
00:05:13.520 podcast so I guess it was an like it was
00:05:15.360 an organic uh pivot to well we have to
00:05:19.000 document the conversations we're having
00:05:21.160 it's also an amazing way to network yeah
00:05:24.840 you want to talk about like the what's
00:05:27.600 like the best things that have come out
00:05:29.680 of the podcast for you so far yeah uh I
00:05:33.319 have been blown away with how generous
00:05:37.240 people in my network have been with
00:05:39.759 their own networks and offering to
00:05:42.080 introduce me to people that they know
00:05:44.919 that I'm like 6° separated from or more
00:05:48.440 and they're like oh yeah no problem let
00:05:49.759 me text them right now and introduce you
00:05:52.039 and that's been incredible especially
00:05:55.240 because I never really thought we'd be
00:05:57.360 able to talk to these people and it's
00:05:58.800 not about my gosh they're Untouchable
00:06:00.919 it's not that it's I'm so fascinated
00:06:03.319 with what they built I'm so fascinated
00:06:05.440 with were they intentional about how
00:06:06.919 they built their business and their
00:06:08.000 brand did they know that becoming an
00:06:10.440 influencer was step one to building a
00:06:13.680 life that they're looking for so I think
00:06:16.240 I've learned so much from the
00:06:17.599 conversations that we've had and that
00:06:19.080 it's been so validating that the the
00:06:22.039 angle we're taking to these
00:06:24.880 conversations is different than what
00:06:27.479 most people talk about when they go on a
00:06:31.240 personal growth or entrepreneurial
00:06:34.400 business podcast typically when you're
00:06:36.599 asked to be on a podcast that is in that
00:06:39.039 category you're asked to say okay tell
00:06:40.599 me how you started your business and
00:06:42.120 it's really it's really business focused
00:06:44.000 it's not as much about so how do you how
00:06:47.360 did you get to the place where you're
00:06:48.680 able to say no to things how do you feel
00:06:51.280 about yourself are do you have high
00:06:53.720 self- worth low self worth what is that
00:06:55.280 Journey been like and but that's the
00:06:57.120 that's really in my opinion the most
00:06:58.879 important part part of how anybody built
00:07:01.319 something successful is who are you as a
00:07:02.960 person and how have you felt along the
00:07:04.440 way yeah and how have you evolved so I
00:07:07.160 think like the thing I've gotten the
00:07:09.120 most out of this journey is the
00:07:12.280 conversations themselves have been
00:07:14.759 amazing watching people resonate with
00:07:18.199 these conversations and offer to
00:07:19.919 introduce us to people yeah has been
00:07:22.039 really awesome and then it is it does
00:07:25.680 make me feel good that we're sharing
00:07:27.479 these conversations with people mhm yeah
00:07:30.120 I agree what about you a lot of the same
00:07:34.000 a lot of very validating and feeling wow
00:07:36.479 people are actually listening and having
00:07:39.199 way more than we thought yeah having
00:07:40.599 friends and stuff say oh I listen and
00:07:42.720 it's so good I love to listen to it that
00:07:45.479 for me it's been I never thought I would
00:07:47.560 do a podcast I've done podcast
00:07:50.240 interviews for Cofe contracts where I am
00:07:52.599 being interviewed and I've always
00:07:54.400 thought that I was not good at it at all
00:07:57.280 I feel like I've never left a podcast
00:07:59.479 that I did in bed that went well I
00:08:01.960 always thought them was like I wonder if
00:08:04.000 they'll post that I wonder if they're
00:08:05.879 just going to scrap that cuz I feel like
00:08:07.960 I have a really hard time sometimes
00:08:10.680 articulating my thoughts and I I always
00:08:13.199 look at people who are so articulate and
00:08:14.840 I'm like how are they doing that I my
00:08:18.199 mind like I can't get my thoughts into
00:08:21.240 words sometimes but I it's all about
00:08:24.400 practice so now I'm realizing that it's
00:08:26.440 getting easier and easier with every
00:08:28.000 episode we do I'm starting to figure out
00:08:31.360 how to articulate better and I'm not
00:08:34.120 panicking sometimes I get into when I'm
00:08:36.919 speaking in public or doing a podcast I
00:08:40.360 have this voice in my head that says oh
00:08:43.519 God you're not doing too well it
00:08:45.000 literally will start talking to me while
00:08:47.120 I'm speaking and it'll be like you
00:08:48.800 nobody nobody understands the word
00:08:50.959 you're saying right now and it starts
00:08:52.920 make me spiral and do bad but that's
00:08:56.120 getting a lot better all that to say
00:08:57.880 that I this podcast has has helped me in
00:08:59.760 a lot of selfish ways it's helped me to
00:09:02.920 practice that to strengthen that muscle
00:09:06.360 and I think another great thing like if
00:09:08.320 someone is listening to this that's
00:09:09.920 considering a podcast and you already
00:09:12.000 have a business where you're needing to
00:09:14.800 create content for it or you're building
00:09:16.519 a brand or something and you need
00:09:18.079 content it is such a great way to create
00:09:21.279 content and it holds you accountable and
00:09:24.320 it's just I don't know it's killing two
00:09:27.000 multiple birds with one stone you're
00:09:28.320 networking you're Crea content you're on
00:09:31.279 podcast so now you're on another SEO
00:09:33.279 platform where people search for certain
00:09:35.560 terms and they find you so there's a ton
00:09:37.560 of benefits of it and yeah I think it's
00:09:40.680 definitely it's a really good tool for
00:09:42.399 that I one last thing in reflection on
00:09:46.200 what this has how this has impacted us
00:09:48.640 so far I didn't in hindsight it makes
00:09:51.399 total sense but I didn't realize it when
00:09:53.640 we decided to do this the most natural
00:09:56.519 way the thing I'm most curious in and
00:09:58.560 the thing that I feel like I am best at
00:10:00.560 is conversation and getting inside of
00:10:02.959 someone's head and just taking the
00:10:05.200 Curiosity that I have and tinkering
00:10:07.120 around in somebody else's brain and
00:10:08.640 getting them to share and feel
00:10:10.000 comfortable and be open and I didn't
00:10:12.760 realize that the podcast is a way for
00:10:16.839 people to get to know us yeah and get to
00:10:19.160 know the way we think and the change
00:10:21.640 that we're trying to make or the people
00:10:24.320 were trying to relate to um in like this
00:10:26.959 abundance mindset versus scarcity like
00:10:29.279 there is room for all of us at the top
00:10:31.720 and actually in fact in a room where all
00:10:34.720 your friends are there for you to be
00:10:36.720 sitting there looking at how impressed
00:10:38.720 you are with all your friends and how
00:10:40.360 successful they've been and how much
00:10:41.959 they've accomplished is like a way
00:10:43.360 better feeling than sitting in a room
00:10:45.079 and thinking I have done so much more
00:10:46.959 than everybody around me like who wants
00:10:48.959 that you want to be you want to see all
00:10:51.320 the people you love successful so it's
00:10:54.440 been a natural way for people to get to
00:10:57.160 know us the way that we think for us to
00:10:59.040 to build our brand and for us to really
00:11:01.040 actually identify like what gatess even
00:11:02.680 is through these conversations as
00:11:04.920 opposed to us being like okay I'm going
00:11:06.639 to record a bunch of reals and put them
00:11:08.560 on Instagram like that is not natural
00:11:10.839 for me I'm trying to do it I am paying
00:11:13.440 the suck tax big time in that Arena but
00:11:16.399 and I know it's important but it's like
00:11:19.160 yeah but what better way for somebody to
00:11:20.480 get to know us and our brand and what
00:11:21.560 we're trying to do than just listening
00:11:22.720 to us have a conversation yeah in terms
00:11:24.639 of the marketing World everybody's
00:11:26.000 talking about how long form content is
00:11:28.279 trending short term really short form
00:11:30.639 content is like on the right now long
00:11:33.240 form content is like doing really well

00:11:37.200 little bit so interesting I wonder why
00:11:39.200 do people are tired of it I think people
00:11:41.160 are tired of the fast inundated with
00:11:43.480 tiny Snippets of what even just watch
00:11:45.680 that made me feel weird yeah when you
00:11:46.920 watch a long form piece of content you
00:11:48.680 really get to know the Creator a lot
00:11:50.240 better and um yeah and listen take it in
00:11:53.680 slowly listen while you're doing the
00:11:55.120 dishes while you're doing your laundry
00:11:57.440 yeah okay so in terms of how we got
00:12:00.320 started from a setup starting a podcast
00:12:03.880 is one of I think there's a lower
00:12:06.680 barrier to entry than a lot of people
00:12:08.720 think yeah you don't have to be a huge
00:12:12.000 business to start a podcast you don't
00:12:13.399 have to have a huge brand to start a
00:12:14.639 podcast talk about the cost and like the
00:12:16.279 exact step by step what did we buy we
00:12:18.839 didn't really buy anything right away
00:12:20.760 but we may be pivoting to buying our own
00:12:24.040 equipment set up but we found a podcast
00:12:27.000 studio in Tampa and there's like a in
00:12:29.120 the area where you pay we're paying like
00:12:31.279 a monthly $950 a month we get two
00:12:34.600 episodes two long form episodes and two
00:12:38.519 social Snippets from those episodes
00:12:40.880 right and yeah that was just something
00:12:43.600 that we decided to invest our own money
00:12:46.920 in a little bit of our own money to take
00:12:50.800 our preserve our time like we both are
00:12:52.880 busy and have a lot of responsibility so
00:12:55.360 it was worth it to us to use some of our
00:12:56.959 own money that maybe would we would use
00:12:58.519 for like like fund money or something
00:13:00.000 like that to invest in the business so
00:13:01.480 that we could have more of our time back
00:13:03.199 and we weren't sitting here figuring out
00:13:04.600 how to produce and I think people can
00:13:06.240 totally you can still start a podcast on
00:13:08.399 your laptop with the plugged in Apple
00:13:11.120 headphones absolutely but the reason we
00:13:13.360 chose thatout route is because I think
00:13:15.560 it also held us accountable to have a
00:13:18.320 time slot it did scheduled with a
00:13:20.560 company and you have to show up and it's
00:13:22.519 really cool because I've recorded a ton
00:13:23.959 of videos for coffee and contracts that
00:13:25.800 had never hit the light of day because I
00:13:28.320 recorded and I was like H once I'm done
00:13:30.399 recording I'm like I do not want to edit
00:13:32.079 this so it just and I'm like it probably
00:13:33.800 wasn't even good anyway so it and then
00:13:35.560 they just edit it for you so I would
00:13:37.480 recommend that starting off but you
00:13:39.600 learn a lot too about the I guess you
00:13:43.560 learn about the way that you should be
00:13:46.639 preparing for the episodes you I I think
00:13:49.360 to your point I guess it's to the same
00:13:50.959 point of accountability it felt more
00:13:52.880 like something that we had to date for
00:13:54.399 we had to prep for as opposed to us
00:13:57.000 pivoting and picking up really quickly
00:13:58.800 and doing it on our laptops we could
00:14:00.560 been scrappier but we could have been
00:14:02.120 scrappier but that's a choice we we
00:14:04.399 specifically made the choice to not be
00:14:05.519 scrappier from the beginning because we
00:14:06.720 wanted it to be very high quality from
00:14:08.880 the beginning we wanted to have we also
00:14:10.880 made the decision that most of our
00:14:12.639 guests were going to be in person and so
00:14:15.079 we wanted to invite them to like a
00:14:17.120 professional place to record as opposed
00:14:19.440 to our house which we could do for sure
00:14:22.519 and I actually really love the idea that
00:14:24.440 we got from one of our guests Marin
00:14:26.279 gatess on the go yeah and recording
00:14:29.519 as we're on thead and traveling for work
00:14:32.320 or personal as things come up and topics
00:14:34.680 come up or we meet somebody that we want
00:14:36.120 to interview so we're going to start to

00:16:04.079 publisher part yeah so they publish it
00:16:05.880 for you so you just make an account on
00:16:07.360 Buzz Sprout and you how you're you
00:16:10.000 actually upload your episodes to you're
00:16:11.800 not uploading directly to Spotify or
00:16:13.880 directly to Apple podcast you're
00:16:16.160 uploading to buzz Sprout they verify
00:16:18.959 that you're not a robot yeah and then
00:16:21.000 they publish you on you select which
00:16:23.519 Outlets you want to publish on we're
00:16:24.880 doing Spotify and apple podcast um and
00:16:28.160 then they also track all your stats for
00:16:30.120 you your downloads your listens trending
00:16:32.560 over time not a lot though the not a lot
00:16:34.920 that's true reic is the one oh with the
00:16:37.440 all the all the stats ronic okay yeah
00:16:40.079 that ronic you can search for anyone's
00:16:42.120 podcast and see how many listen
00:16:43.759 listeners they have per month what
00:16:45.160 charts they're on and then if it's like
00:16:47.240 a they have a lot of episodes or it's a
00:16:48.880 bigger podcast it'll show is it skewing
00:16:51.680 female or male what's their engagement
00:16:53.560 score we don't have those yet I think
00:16:56.160 it's once you have like enough data that
00:16:57.839 they can look through for that and like
00:17:00.079 how many episodes they have which we'll
00:17:01.839 read those to you shortly here yes and
00:17:04.439 then the way you could edit there's
00:17:07.079 there's several sites that have ai
00:17:09.959 driven editing so it's super super quick
00:17:12.959 we've been using dript to get our own
00:17:16.319 social Snippets from episodes so you
00:17:18.679 upload your episode and it pretty much
00:17:20.160 looks like a a Google doc of the whole
00:17:22.319 transcription and to get a little
00:17:24.520 snippet all you do is delete the rest of
00:17:26.319 the text and it leaves only the words in
00:17:28.679 the video associated with what you want
00:17:30.160 to leave which is super cool and easy
00:17:32.840 and then that's pretty much all you have
00:17:34.960 to do you record either yourself or in a
00:17:38.200 Production Studio yeah you could totally
00:17:39.679 do it on your computer you could do it
00:17:41.039 with a tool like Riverside or you could
00:17:43.360 use zoom and then we used canva to
00:17:46.520 create the cover photo or we had we did
00:17:49.760 have a brand shoe with we I had a brand
00:17:52.200 Sho scheduled for coffee and contracts
00:17:54.080 and we lumped in quick little gate list
00:17:56.679 session shout out Lucy Solan Photography
00:17:59.480 in St Pete and we Ed those photos which
00:18:03.200 I think having high quality photos is
00:18:04.880 great um and then we used Cana to just
00:18:08.280 create a simple little cover photo yep
00:18:11.000 so yeah it's pretty easy to get started
00:18:13.320 it is easy to get started and then the
00:18:15.159 way in which we've been getting
00:18:17.679 inspiration and ideas on how to promote
00:18:20.919 or Market the episodes is honestly we've
00:18:24.039 been like we've been watching podcasts
00:18:27.679 that we really listen to and seeing how
00:18:30.240 they do it we were big podcast consumers
00:18:32.520 huge podcast still I I at least listen
00:18:34.880 one a day not more so there's a few that
00:18:37.120 we really skinny confidential and arm
00:18:38.840 expert and we just see how they promote
00:18:40.559 on Instagram we see we learn from
00:18:42.720 watching them we learn from watching how
00:18:44.159 they title their episodes how they
00:18:46.960 pull words that someone would actually
00:18:49.360 search for what platforms are they using
00:18:51.240 what platforms how frequently they're
00:18:52.799 posting how many days in advance and how
00:18:54.520 many days after yeah we've learned a ton
00:18:56.919 just from watching others do who came
00:18:58.919 before us do it really well yeah that's
00:19:00.480 like Gary ve says don't do what I say do
00:19:02.679 what I'm doing do what I do yeah watch
