00:05:01.160 intentionality and there is some
00:05:02.639 introspection that goes into even being
00:05:05.759 able to answer the question how did that
00:05:07.720 make me feel I mean this is on the other
00:05:09.440 side of like tens of thousands of
00:05:11.080 dollars of therapy and a lot of
00:05:13.600 development of relationship with self
00:05:15.520 and all of this goes back to
00:05:17.120 relationship with self I have the luxury
00:05:20.319 of having built my life and my business
00:05:24.720 and my world on my own not to say that
00:05:27.120 it doesn't take a village right but I am
00:05:29.639 you know the sole person around which my
00:05:34.520 world revolves in every facet so um and
00:05:38.199 it's curated as such right so I'm not I
00:05:41.440 don't have you know a significant other
00:05:43.440 currently or you know Offspring or cure
00:05:47.520 I curated my life to not have a pet or a
00:05:50.240 house plant because I know that I want
00:05:53.639 my focus while my life is the way that
00:05:56.160 it is right now to be on my craft and
00:05:59.039 because my brand is anonomous brand
00:06:01.759 because I'm the face of the brand
00:06:04.720 that doesn't happen without me taking
00:06:07.160 care of myself when I pour into myself
00:06:09.160 and when I take care of myself everybody
00:06:10.880 else around me flourishes and that also
00:06:13.759 is translated into the literal visuals
00:06:17.720 of the brand like the brand you can
00:06:19.599 physically like actually see with your
00:06:21.680 own eyes you can see the brand flourish
00:06:23.880 when I take care of myself MH so my
00:06:27.319 world is not the reality for a lot of
00:06:29.160 different people for a myriad of reasons
00:06:31.240 but what I will say is that taking care
00:06:33.840 of self and development of relationship
00:06:36.560 with self will allow you to be able to
00:06:38.840 answer those questions faster and faster
00:06:42.319 the deeper you understand yourself the
00:06:44.080 deeper you will you'll be able to align
00:06:46.240 or know that you're misaligned what are
00:06:49.000 some things that you do that maybe
00:06:51.360 aren't therapy you maybe got these tools
00:06:53.720 through therapy or you got these tools
00:06:55.360 through um realizing that you need to do
00:06:58.319 a facial or you I I saw you do some what
00:07:02.080 is the like sweat box thing I want to
00:07:03.599 hear about that but you know like all
00:07:05.000 these things but what are some what are
00:07:06.599 some little things maybe that you do
00:07:09.120 when you're sitting at a stoplight or
00:07:10.479 when you just have a moment to yourself
00:07:11.800 that don't require a bunch of money but
00:07:13.400 like anybody could do it and start to
00:07:15.199 get that incremental gain or Edge in
00:07:17.520 their life or like incrementally start
00:07:18.879 to understand their energy flow intake
00:07:21.360 and
00:07:22.199 output right I mean I think again it
00:07:24.680 goes back to relationship with self
00:07:26.080 because I could tell you the things that
00:07:27.560 I do but it won't necessarily I mean
00:07:29.479 this is like a 5 10 year journey of
00:07:32.240 being able to like when I look at a
00:07:34.160 stoplight when I sit sit at a stoplight
00:07:37.560 what am I looking at I mean I'm probably
00:07:39.560 looking at how amazing the clouds are
00:07:41.840 here I'm probably marveling in the
00:07:43.520 clouds I'm probably looking at the
00:07:46.800 different signs or like watching people
00:07:48.919 like walk across the street I'm
00:07:50.960 observing what's going on around me um
00:07:54.080 and as a former Los Angelino and a
00:07:57.080 former basket case that is something
00:07:59.520 that I never dreamt of doing because I
00:08:01.680 was constantly on the hamster wheel and
00:08:03.319 constantly go go go and it's one part
00:08:05.520 nature and nurture right because there's
00:08:08.159 no option but to hustle yeah when you're
00:08:11.479 in an environment like Los Angeles and
00:08:13.039 you're building a brand from scratch in
00:08:14.520 an environment like Los Angeles and it's
00:08:17.319 La so you always are on edge because you
00:08:20.120 don't really know yeah where you are
00:08:22.039 who's around you whereas now that I've
00:08:25.639 moved myself and the brand to Tampa I
00:08:27.560 mean people are like oh my God she go
00:08:29.599 across the causeway that's so far I'm
00:08:31.479 like are you crazy like I will pay you
00:08:34.599 money to go across the causeway I like

00:08:42.599 picturesque and I just find the
00:08:44.880 environment here to just be so
00:08:46.760 lifegiving and truly I'm trying to think
00:08:49.880 of like when I'm stopped at a stoplight

00:08:57.279 I was at a stoplight it triggered this
00:08:59.480 like anxiety and anger in me because it
00:09:01.399 was slowing me down and instead of that
00:09:04.519 I was able to shift the mindset to I
00:09:07.279 have a moment to pause and like you've
00:09:09.880 you've done that subconsciously or
00:09:11.560 consciously to just be grateful about
00:09:12.760 what you're looking at around you but
00:09:14.040 like that that in itself is you're like
00:09:17.680 you're practicing gratitude at a spot at
00:09:19.160 a stoplight right in a journey yeah yeah
00:09:22.560 that's I mean okay so this energy energy
00:09:25.160 conversation I'm sure your wheels are

00:10:24.000 my sweet onchan for Christmas so I guess
00:10:25.839 we're coming up on if I'm going to do my
00:10:28.399 math correctly 28 years
00:10:31.440 anniversary of receiving my first bead
00:10:34.000 kit so I think we should do something
00:10:35.160 spectacular for 30 years um so I'll let

00:11:20.040 garage sales and I would get stuff and

00:11:23.760 then rework it and so I did that and I
00:11:26.519 amassed such an ungodly amount of
00:11:28.200 jewelry that my parents who by the way
00:11:30.720 are both entrepreneurs that come from a
00:11:32.079 long line of entrepreneurs on both sides
00:11:34.079 they said you have so much jewelry why
00:11:35.480 don't you sell it and so I would sell it
00:11:37.760 for a quarter or 50 cents or like less
00:11:39.880 than what the actual product was actual
00:11:42.279 cost of the product and so I would sell
00:11:44.360 it to my girlfriends at dance class you
00:11:46.959 know I bring in plastic bags I would
00:11:48.920 bring stuff around to stores and sell it
00:11:51.480 to them on consignment for less than
00:11:53.200 what the cost of the product even was
00:11:55.839 and then I started selling my stuff at a
00:11:57.680 fair a craft fair in Northern California
00:11:59.880 called the Alam art and wine fair and I
00:12:02.360 did that for 20 years and even when I
00:12:04.480 lived in Los Angeles I flew back every
00:12:07.200 summer and did a full buildout and sold
00:12:09.800 my stuff and that was kind of how the
00:12:13.120 brand started and then it was just a
00:12:16.279 hobby and then a glorified Hobby and
00:12:18.279 when I was in college and I still had
00:12:19.720 Bead kits under my bed my twin bed and
00:12:22.480 my cigarette you know box of a dorm room
00:12:25.800 I would still you know pull things out
00:12:27.279 and make it you know occasionally or um
00:12:29.760 you know I was in a sorority so when we
00:12:31.000 had parties I would make a little piece
00:12:32.760 for whatever outfit I was wearing and

00:12:39.199 dance teacher from back home also moved
00:12:42.279 to Los Angeles became a wardrobe stylist

00:12:51.720 and I was like what does that mean I
00:12:53.120 don't know what that means so when as a
00:12:56.399 wardrobe stylist she will do a quote
00:12:58.560 unquote pull p and borrow products from
00:13:01.959 brands or showrooms or department stores
00:13:04.720 and then put them on her clients and
00:13:06.519 then return them so that was my first
00:13:09.519 exposure to so your jewelry was on the
00:13:12.399 contestants of American Idol yes wow so

00:14:08.160 getting calls and contacted by big
00:14:10.720 entertainment agencies and marketing
00:14:13.440 firms and all the stuff and I was like

00:14:19.079 was I was like I'm just trying to like
00:14:20.759 pass my art history exams like what are
00:14:22.639 you I don't get what's happening and so
00:14:25.440 then after college I had a full career
00:14:27.240 in event production um and was kind of
00:14:30.959 running my business simultaneously but
00:14:32.880 still at that point for me it was a
00:14:34.440 glorified hobby I wasn't inputting
00:14:36.720 spreadsheets I wasn't crunching numbers
00:14:38.880 it was profitable by a long shot but I
00:14:42.639 wasn't I didn't put the attention into
00:14:45.600 it the way that the attention is put
00:14:47.120 into it now because I wanted it to just
00:14:49.279 be something that brought me joy and
00:14:51.399 then as the business grew to be even
00:14:54.320 more of a time commitment than my
00:14:55.560 full-time job then I ended up leaning
00:14:57.560 into this full-time I went in I um I

00:15:06.519 proprietorship 2018 is when I went all
00:15:09.040 in and then what was your full-time job

00:15:17.920 stores so I got to understand styling
00:15:20.360 and fashion shows and a lot of like the

00:15:26.399 worked in the uh PR department with NE
00:15:28.680 Marcus for quite a bit and so I learned
00:15:31.880 a lot about the Beast the proverbial
00:15:34.560 Beast that exists behind Brands yeah in
00:15:37.519 that job as well as the interactive
00:15:39.800 nature that retail has become you know
00:15:42.399 now in 2023 so it was a really
00:15:45.399 incredible learning experience for me
00:15:47.600 and it's also one of those stories where
00:15:49.800 you know when you're young and you're in
00:15:50.839 your career and you're like what am I
00:15:52.319 doing like everything that you're doing
00:15:54.040 is leading you to where you need to go
00:15:56.000 and where you're supposed to go like God
00:15:57.720 is so good and he is pushing you and
00:16:01.639 placing you in places that will make
00:16:04.000 sense eventually even if it's not on
00:16:05.720 your timeline like it all makes so much

00:16:11.880 closed and when I was grinding you know
00:16:15.040 so overwhelming at as a young as a young
00:16:16.880 buck in Los Angeles you know I was like
00:16:19.120 I don't know what I'm doing but I'm
00:16:20.240 doing it so somewhere somewhere in
00:16:22.560 between the impostor syndrome you felt
00:16:25.079 by seeing your name in the credits of
00:16:28.279 the way of American Idol to taking this
00:16:32.680 on as a full-time business this like you
00:16:35.880 are the brand you went all in somewhere
00:16:37.880 between those two things like there must
00:16:39.440 have been a moment where you were like
00:16:42.920 get over it Marin get over this imposter
00:16:44.839 syndrome like do it take the leap of
00:16:46.680 faith do it was there a conscious moment
00:16:49.720 or was it a slow build was it purely
00:16:51.759 Financial the way you were looking at it
00:16:53.360 like I'm so curious to hear about the
00:16:54.720 moment you said I'm going to bet on
00:16:56.079 myself and I'm going to do this it was
00:16:58.120 burn out it was I can't do both at the
00:17:01.839 same time physically I I mean I'm very
00:17:05.160 in tune with my body my body talks to me
00:17:07.240 like when I'm stressed out my body talks
00:17:09.319 to me because I have a very high stress
00:17:11.199 threshold so my body will you know talk
00:17:14.039 to me in whatever way or you know when
00:17:16.199 I'm reaching burnout like I I understand
00:17:20.199 again relationship with self I
00:17:22.199 understand what that looks like for me
00:17:24.319 and so I mean it was not sustainable I
00:17:26.679 was running two full-time jobs jobs at
00:17:28.960 the same
00:17:30.200 time in kind of like a pre
00:17:34.360 digital world right because my worlds
00:17:37.600 were very tactile events and fashion are
00:17:41.320 tactile physical products so there
00:17:44.160 weren't a lot of loopholes whereas and I
00:17:46.640 know that now there's like a ton of apps
00:17:48.080 and like different things you know not
00:17:49.440 to age myself but I I had to physically
00:17:52.600 choose and I think that for me there
00:17:55.520 wasn't it wasn't necessarily impostor
00:17:57.559 syndrome as much as I'm a fraud like I
00:18:02.039 there wasn't an a moment where I was
00:18:03.640 like I'm not worthy of this it was more
00:18:05.640 so they're going to find out find I'm
00:18:08.480 not like them well I didn't know what I
00:18:11.200 didn't know so I was like oh I'm on TV
00:18:13.679 like am I supposed to have done
00:18:15.400 something I mean I was like former
00:18:16.640 straight A student like valedictorian
00:18:19.000 like I was like I followed the rules and
00:18:21.840 now I hate rules but I don't break them
00:18:23.720 but I hate them so I just wanted to make

00:24:56.000 jewelry and it it started from a really
00:24:57.840 young age and you just like had the
00:24:59.039 motivation to keep going and keep trying
00:25:01.799 and keep seeing what what worked and
00:25:03.720 aligned and like eventually it did it
00:25:05.919 did come out on the other end as a way
00:25:07.520 to build a business and monetize and and
00:25:09.880 have a brand but like did you maybe the
00:25:12.440 question is what money Milestones did
00:25:15.600 you have for yourself to hit and what
00:25:18.000 money Milestones do you think are
00:25:19.919 appropriate for young entrepreneurs or
00:25:22.600 like people building a brand to have for
00:25:25.720 themselves so that it's realistic but
00:25:27.520 it's like no you can you can hit this
00:25:29.559 you can achieve this and like how do you
00:25:31.159 continue to think about money milestones

00:25:33.600 yourself well I think that in general
00:25:35.720 abundance mindset is key especially if
00:25:38.159 you're going to go the entrepreneurial

00:25:43.960 I need a notepad but one thing that I
00:25:46.159 want to say is that I don't necessarily
00:25:48.440 recommend turning a passion into a
00:25:50.080 profession it rips a lot of joy out of
00:25:53.320 it because there's responsibility that
00:25:55.559 comes with turning a passion into an
00:25:58.159 occupation I also think that turning a
00:26:00.399 passion into a job implies that we are
00:26:03.240 not multi-dimensional multifaceted
00:26:05.480 beings like you can have multi- passions
00:26:07.960 you can be involved and you can love a
00:26:10.039 myriad of different things like we're
00:26:11.480 all so unique and we have so many
00:26:15.440 different talents and interests like you
00:26:17.039 don't need to make all of them monetary
00:26:20.360 um so that's one thought bubble another
00:26:23.760 thought bubble is again abundance
00:26:26.159 mindset and I feel that time is of such
00:26:31.760 value
00:26:33.320 that the sooner that you start anything

00:27:14.720 precedence for creating a community and
00:27:16.919 then leveraging that Community to sell
00:27:19.440 something there's precedence for a lot
00:27:21.080 of this so it's not I guess what you're
00:27:22.480 saying is like it's not as though you're
00:27:23.679 Reinventing the wheel necessarily there
00:27:26.279 is you just have to go do it and so as
00:27:28.520 soon as you're in it you're like oh my
00:27:29.600 God the anticipation or the expectation
00:27:31.640 of how difficult it is to build a brand
00:27:34.919 or hit a money Milestone was so much
00:27:36.760 greater than it actually is because
00:27:38.440 especially if it's the right alignment

00:27:41.760 like then as soon as you're in it you're

00:29:39.039 logistical questions I'm thinking about
00:29:42.000 how you started and you're creating the
00:29:44.559 jewelry like as a passion with your
00:29:46.559 hands and at some point I'm guessing it
00:29:49.320 probably changed like you're probably
00:29:51.200 not sitting at your house making all the
00:29:53.080 jewelry on your bed like yeah maybe are
00:29:55.559 so I'm I'm a little curious like when
00:29:57.399 did that switch was that when you
00:29:59.279 finally decided to do it full-time or
00:30:01.559 like how did that process look like no I
00:30:03.960 was pretty much still making everything
00:30:05.200 full time still filling wholesale
00:30:07.159 accounts and making everything doing it
00:30:09.360 you know myself like you know every
00:30:11.120 facet of the business at that point so
00:30:13.240 I'd say like
00:30:16.440 2019 um I made friends with a wonderful
00:30:21.000 gentleman who I met in the jewelry
00:30:23.760 district in Downtown LA and he ended up
00:30:25.760 being my like Soul contractor and he
00:30:28.799 would make all the product and so at
00:30:31.919 that point I was working in raw
00:30:33.480 materials meaning chain from one place a
00:30:35.640 charm from another place a class from
00:30:37.240 another place I would get the materials
00:30:39.640 bring them in aggregate them separate
00:30:41.840 them ration them out and then give them
00:30:43.840 to him and then he would make
00:30:45.760 everything I was working in a myriad of
00:30:47.840 different materials and um that worked
00:30:51.440 for a very long time it's very laborious
00:30:54.000 it's a lot it's very detail oriented
00:30:56.000 there's a lot of moving parts
00:30:57.840 and so when I I started to work with
00:31:00.159 factories and manufacturers a little bit
00:31:01.880 when I was in LA um but I already had
00:31:04.360 the systems it's like it's harder but I
00:31:06.360 already had my systems so I'm just going
00:31:07.840 to continue on this journey right while
00:31:09.639 I was there and then cut to me moving
00:31:11.960 across the country it really pushed me
00:31:13.960 to work with factories so now we work
00:31:17.360 with upward of 20 factories I don't
00:31:19.679 personally believe putting all of your
00:31:21.440 eggs in one basket because of as we
00:31:23.240 learned in Co if your factory goes under
00:31:25.679 so does your business yeah so it is more
00:31:27.919 work for me to manage all the different
00:31:29.840 and I still am the one who does that um
00:31:32.760 I manage all of the 20ish um factories
00:31:36.240 that we work with um when you say manage
00:31:39.240 what does that entail that means so I
00:31:42.559 feel like we should go into the
00:31:43.440 structure of the business I think so too
00:31:45.720 quite a bit yeah um but that is a
00:31:47.720 project that I still am the like I hold
00:31:51.279 the keys to those relationships to my
00:31:53.480 factories so when I did move across the
00:31:56.159 country one I had to right I I didn't
00:32:00.159 really want to interview people to be
00:32:01.600 contractors here and also the volume we
00:32:03.960 were doing was was so big that I mean
00:32:06.399 George my my old contractor is a beast
00:32:08.760 so I was like I know I could give him
00:32:10.120 hundreds and he could you know bang it
00:32:11.720 out in a day in a weekend um but we had
00:32:14.480 our flow and so I knew that I needed to
00:32:16.440 move to larger factories when I moved
00:32:19.360 here so that's how it works now but then
00:32:23.679 because I moved the fact moved to the
00:32:25.000 factory route then I Diversified and and
00:32:27.440 work with you know 20ish factories
00:32:30.120 depending upon the project so I
00:32:32.440 currently have a team of 14 so in year
00:32:34.519 one when I first moved here it was party
00:32:36.200 of one um I had one woman who worked
00:32:38.840 remote for me she has since um moved on
00:32:41.840 but she's still a dear friend um she was
00:32:44.039 my very very very first hire in Los
00:32:45.960 Angeles she moved to Philly to be with
00:32:47.480 her family during the pandemic and you
00:32:50.399 know
00:32:51.240 her um position went from assistant to
00:32:54.960 social to then eventually creative
00:32:57.039 director and she did a ton of digital
00:32:58.399 stuff for us in design so in year one
00:33:01.600 when I moved across the country after
00:33:03.200 letting my staff go in La I went from
00:33:07.440 one employee which was myself to four um
00:33:12.039 so it was me and then it was two it was
00:33:16.039 you know party one and then two and then
00:33:18.440 it was 3 four by the end of the year and
00:33:20.600 then in the last year we've now grown to
00:33:22.519 a team of 14 so there's been a lot of
00:33:25.279 growth in the last year um but the
00:33:28.240 things that I do not relinquish

00:34:04.240 space that came with five Kick-Ass sales

00:34:10.960 store that was there before had carried
00:34:12.560 our pieces for two years we were the
00:34:14.040 number one brand and then they went um
00:34:15.560 full e-commerce and so we were given the
00:34:19.040 opportunity to take over the space which
00:34:21.040 has been a huge win and such an exciting
00:34:23.560 project and um my passion is not in
00:34:26.320 brick and mortar but it's been a fun
00:34:27.800 little like passion project you know
00:34:29.480 it's been a really great learning
00:34:30.639 experience and I love those women so
00:34:32.159 much um and then there's five of us at
00:34:34.879 headquarters so there's Community

00:35:34.280 women their jobs can exist anywhere we
00:35:37.040 do um host them quite a bit um locally
00:35:40.320 but that's the team of 14 so I'm really

00:35:47.680 team implicitly they're incredibly
00:35:49.720 talented um there's a lot of jargon
00:35:52.839 about younger Generations either not
00:35:55.200 wanting to work or it's being so
00:35:57.040 difficult to hire and I that's not my
00:35:59.440 experience and I think that your belief

00:36:03.720 just don't subscribe to those belief

00:42:54.760 that up to a gut feeling as opposed to
00:42:56.880 the fact that you were a very
00:42:57.920 intelligent person with great critical
00:42:59.520 thinking skills and you assessed an
00:43:00.920 entire situation and you knew exactly

00:43:04.920 was probably I probably didn't use gut
00:43:06.800 feeling the right way in that scenario
00:43:09.000 but I the point I'm making is that I
00:43:11.280 think we uh default to being like Oh I

00:44:02.440 there's making decisions from hard space
00:44:04.200 and then there's head and heart
00:44:05.079 communicating with each other so I would
00:44:08.079 argue that your dad was speaking from a
00:44:10.839 place of head space y of these are the
00:44:13.800 this is you know the data and these are
00:44:16.040 the the analytics and these are the
00:44:17.400 details and therefore if a equals b and
00:44:20.440 b equals c you will arrive at this

00:44:26.240 thinks analytically that makes a ton of
